  1. further to my earlier post use Simons link to the "Soul map" then cmpare to Political map here Red for labour
  2. simon put the map up with where members / events are with the "Pins" in-- Then compare it with a map of the election results from 8 weeks back. I'm crap with stuff like that as regards posting into threads etc--but you will find that Northern Soul territory almost exactly mirrors Labour party territory with one exception --Liverpool-- your good with the PC have a go.... Rob
  3. Features on Album only tracks by Jonathan Gill Cleethorpes Pier by Rob Wicks The Early Leeds scene by Malc Burton Soul People -by Rob wigley 34 pages tons of pictures/ memorabilia/ ads etc great read for a good cause ! Rob
  4. Bridlington weekender Magazine #4 We have about 90 copies left of the official magazine. 32 pages, full glossy colour, loads of interesting articles and photos about the scene past and present. Anyone who wants one please send a cheque for £3 inc P&P to 23 Harley Close, WORKSOP, Notts S80 3BF made payable to Bluebell Wood Children's Hospice--all the money goes to charity. We shall be announcing the total raised during the weekender very soon, however we had to cancel the planned Auction due to the England game taking place, but if we can raise a bit more money with the programme sales that will all go on to the total We also have mirror key rings and pin badge sets @ £2 each or 3 for £5 again order as above with cheques to Bluebell wood please thanks ECSCSC
  5. I've been asked to get proof from someone VERY high up in the tourist industry in Bridlington, I already have 2 bills (thanks) , but this needs nipping in the bud. As many have said it hardly seems worth bothering about-however as we only charge £20 a ticket for the event (we have again absorbed the price rise for 2011)-we need the town to support us (and YOU) by playing fair and NOT TRYING TO CASH IN--if we ever move the event-then there will be plenty of empty beds at bargain prices Rob
  6. [ But, if it was added on top of the agreed price with no prior notification that's a very different matter and very probably illegal. If that is the case you're right it needs nipping in the bud, if only as a matter of principle. A call to Trading Standards might well be in order . Kev
  7. 6,300 beds in Brid ! I'm waiting for a £10 a night charge as the weekender sells out quicker- £60 a couple extra ? it needs nipping in the bud Rob
  8. Yes 100 % true ! and just trying to find out any more that did it ! Its taking the piss, put the room up and add £10 and no one would notice multiply this (1.75p) by 2,500 and then by 3 and youre talking £12, 750 that quite a few pints Rob
  9. Thanks Nev I'm looking for anyone who had a £1.75p per person per night "Northern Soul Charge" added to their bill or similar was told twice during the weekender and it needs stopping ! Rob

  12. Saw glen at Cleethorpes 2 weeks ago (which is where I was first introduced to him many moons ago) but just shook his hand in passing and said hello..... I think he was the first one of the macclesfield/ cheshire lot i knew before getting to know them better during our time at Prestatyn. very sad news indeed a wonderful friendly guy with a true passion for our music A gem of a man who along with his two recently departed friends will leave a huge "void" in the North West / scene our condolences got out to all his family and friends over there in Cheshire so very sorry to hear this news RIP Rob & Karen
  13. And who wouldn't listen to ME when I found the TIN !!! the bloody pair of you (tats and Gilly) As it said on the tape tin --Diana Ross-there are two Vocal versions and an (unfinished?) Instrumental that we transferred on to DAT TAPE- the Acetates were cut from that to play out! The engineer also told us he "Double tracked" Diana's voice to make it sound stronger playing the 2nd track a fraction of a second behind the other. As this was an engineers file/ control / reference copy I doubt if the recording even exists in the Motown Vaults Rob
  14. just bringing this up again to remind every one about the Swap meet saturday afternoon £5 in the bucket for Bluebell wood ! ECSCSC ps you MUST have a weekender ticket to attend
  15. Never noticed Paul Things have changed a) if you left the floor at the Casino when it was rammed you'd never get your spot back b) take enough speed and you'll dance to owt c) If you are talking or socialising you may break for the odd dance-to me generally its to records I dont hear out that often d) re above-my knees are f**king shot these days i can barely walk-never mind dance! e) "un knowns" re-activated oldies always take time to break on a dance floor Rob
  16. Just to clarify YOU HAVE A WEEKENDER TICKET or WRISTBAND and PAY £5 to Bluebell wood on Saturday afternoon into the bucket ! then we tag your box handle !!! Rob
  17. Had a couple of enquiries at Cleethorpes on Saturday as to how this works During the Bridlington Weekender on the Saturday afternoon we are holding a "swap Meet /Record fair" in aid of Bluebell Wood Childrens Hospice TO ATTEND THE RECORD FAIR YOU MUST HAVE A TICKET OR WRISTBAND FOR THE WEEKENDER -THIS IS PART OF THE WEEKENDER Aimed at people wanting to shift a few spare copies - or trade stuff up etc. Each Box will cost £5 to bring in-money straight into the Bluebell Wood collecting bucket. Boxes are then "Tagged" to show you've paid ! Great social event noon till 5pm. Record dealers at the weekender--all stall are now taken I believe - to sell quantities of records/ mechanise you must have a stall booked. we have no problem with a small 50 / 100 box that you can carry around, however with numbers attending this time there are no "spare" tables to use as make shift stalls SORRY. Hope that lot helps ! ECSCSC
