can anyone point me in the direction of anywhere that lists Northern 45s by label I've been on Dave Rimmer's site but looking to see larger labels such as Capitol, MGM, Columbia, ABC, which list the Northern "Classics" and not all the other POP stuff as well All help appreciated Rob

We have left it open a tad longer as we whave a couple of "promised" donation yet still to arrive I can announce that the total raised so far is just over £1,300.00 We are pricing a marble flat marker (not a concrete or stone one ) as it appears the place where Steve was laid to rest won't allow a traditional stand up headstone. We obviously want to get this right so it is worth the slight wait, in the meantime any surplus will be passed on to Steve's aged mother. I shall be purchasing a memorial book for comments from all those who have donated to the fund. There is still time to donate before we close the account BUT VERY VERY WELL DONE AND MUCH THANKS FROM Rob, Ady and Melvin

There's still time to donate, Steve's family will get any surplus remaining Its been fantastic thank you all so much Rob Ady Melvin

We will be closing the fund at Midnight tomorrow-Sunday-its looking excellent -but we need enough to cover the" add on s" sales taxes fees etc. Melvin is making sure we have covered all bases with this one before closing the fund. If there is a surplus after everything is paid, Melvin has suggested it goes to Steve's 92 year old mother, which we shall be looking at. Anyone wishing to add to fund please do so your name will be in the memorial book. i'm actually overwhelmed by the generosity of everyone thank you very much Rob, Ady Melvin

Steve Mancha Memorial Marker/ Headstone Fund
Rob Wigley replied to Rob Wigley's topic in All About the SOUL
Right a quick update on the situation-many many thanks to all those of you who have contributed so far. we now have donations in from nearly every continent on the planet !! such is the wide spread respect for one of our un-sung soul hero's. I've moved this topic on to all about the soul in case anyone has missed the appeal in Soul news. We would like some help getting the message out via FaceBook and other sites --if everyone could mention this on their FaceBook profiles with a link and a link to the fund Paypal address i think we may be able to raise enough funds for a "headstone" sooner than the "Flat" marker--not everyone comes on Soul Source--also if you are on other soul related sites it may help. EVERYONE who send s a donation -no matter how large or small-( all donation amounts are anonymous by the way ) will be mentioned and have the opportunity to leave a few lines about Steve or what his music means to them-these will be copied into a book and presented to Steve's family by Melvin Davis--hopefully at the Markers dedication ceremony. Despite his bad luck and poor health in the later years of his life, this is an opportunity to show his family and indeed the people of the Soul music community in Detroit just how much we care about the music. Please send donations by PayPal ONLY to stevemancha@gmx.com if you can mark as "A gift" this will help on the charges involved so the money goes where it is supposed to. Copy and paste into you facebook profile to get this really moving Realistically we expect this appeal only to be open for another two weeks. EVERYONE who donates will be contacted by myself via their paypal e-mail with details of the book one the fund has closed. Many many thanks for all the donations currently received but lets just give this one that little extra push, you never know this time next year you may be in Detroit looking at the very marker you helped create and paying you respects to Steve Mancha Thank you once again Rob, Ady & Melvin -
Just coping in from across from "Soul News " where Ady originally posted this for those who have missed it Steve Mancha Memorial Fund by ady croasdell on 19 Jan 2011 623 reads 25 comment(s) Soul Articles Index - Soul News /uploads/868c547fca9ba95d72b945352cd6114c.gifWhile talking to Melvin Davis, it became apparent that Steve passed away in poor circumstances and his surviving mother and brother are not in great financial shape. As Steve and the music of black Detroit mean so much to us, myself and Rob Wigley, who has worked closely with Melvin in recent years, thought it would be good to give a little back and show our appreciation of Steve and that body of artists who have given us such memorable music. We have therefore set up a PayPal account for a fund to provide a marker or possibly even a headstone to commemorate Steve's life and what it has meant to us. If anybody would like to contribute the PayPal account is understevemancha@gmx.com and will just be open for a couple of weeks as we want to get the money to Detroit reasonably quickly. If anybody has problems with PayPal please PM me or Rob (ideally him as he'll be administering it) and I'm sure we can sort out a way for anybody to contribute. I'll be contacting all UK record labels who have been involved with Steve's recordings and I'm sure Ace Records will be contributing this week. The gifts will be anonymous unless asked otherwise and if there are any messages for the family and soul people of Detroit I'm sure Rob can pass them on via Melvin. There is no minimum donation, I believe calling it a gift, which it will be, may mean we save on PayPal charges. Perhaps somebody could enlighten us on that? Thanks Ady

Right a quick shout up about the marker fund, I will be contacting Melvin Davis tomorrow after the funeral and party / wake which is a celebration of Steve's life and work. When we have enough to commission the marker we shall close the fund-we are well on target with 37 donations from all around the world being added. I shall contact everyone who has contributed so far and ask for a message to be included in a memorial book for Steve's Mother and family. We have had a great response and we'd like to thank everyone who has contributed so far. However if you've thought about adding something and haven't got around to it yet-just follow thelink and make your donation via PayPal "as a gift" evey penny or cent will go towards the memorial. stevemancha@gmx.com Thanks once again Rob , Ady & Melvin .`

Soul Junction - New 45 - New Website - Invitations out Monday
Rob Wigley commented on Mike's article in News Archives
Great to see the Invitations back on "New Release" Vinyl 45 at long last. Been playing both sides since I got my 45 and i think that the vocal to "Heavenly love " just edges it for me-but I can change my mind like the weather The Invitations have been consistant throughout the decades and this double sider may just be the tip of the iceberg for things to come. A sold 45 for this superb label Keep 'em coming Rob Wigley -
Had a night to think about this I paid about £80 to see Oasis last year with Laddo he's just done the V festival saturday pass £80 and Muse at Old trafford cost £75 off ebay I'd like to go £100 is a snip if you got a good view-but there are tickets at £300 each for front row tables now £600 for a pair is stretching it a bit £1,000 for a night out. its a charity do, they expect you to chuck another grand in the pot £2,000 for a night out ? its footballer stuff to most of us but I bet there's a couple on here that already have their front row seats booked lucky buggers Rob
