Fair enough, there is a "NEW " government body called FLAG, which is supposed to be a one stop shop for people in difficulties who require help or advice. It is for help with mortgage payments, benefits claims, incapacity claims, citizens advice, in fact all things under the sun. Try looking on Google they may be able to help here. Citizens Advice CAN put you in touch with solicitors and MAY be able to point you in the direction on a cheaper basis. Hope that helps. Steve.

In my profesional life I invest money for people etc and you ALL should consider writing a will. DO NOT bother with online or do it yourself wills because IF a dispute occurs a lawyer will drive a coach and horses through any errors. If you live in or around Manchester,S Yorks,Cheshire or even Staffs and Derbyshire I can recommend a super solicitor who can assist with a will. She only deals with estates, Inheritance tax problems and probate issues. Costs will be around £400 - £600 depending on what is required. The price of a reasonable rare record really. Next if you are seeking Enduring Power of Attorney then this can be obtained through the Court of Protection in London. Not sure of the exact cost but I think it is about £400, but it is a mighty piece of paper believe me. I arranged one for the daughter of a client who has since developed dementia, invaluable. I guess the main thing to remember is that we could say suffer a stroke or maybe have a severe accident which could require years of care. I remember Jim and there have been a number of questions about Paul Shirley. Paul was one of my best mates, he got back in touch right out of the blue about 4/5 years ago. I know he made contact with Tony Warot and Andy Felts. Sadly Paul took his own life in 2007. Tony, Andy, Tony Hirst and myself went to the funeral in Gt Yarmouth. Very sad. As for the Wigan coaches the driver was called Brian and he used to look after our gear just in case. Are any of you posters from Bedford Paul Aisbit, I think thats the spelling. I'll get the hang of this thing soon. A friend of mine sat up most of the night waiting for a film called Paris Blues to start. Seems it does'nt feature Tony Middleton and has nothing to do with us at all.

Melvin Britt was credited on an early 80's/late 70's Kids LP from ( maybe ) Disney. Then about 7/8 years ago another recording artist appeared called Melvin C Britt. He was youngish, could be his son?? Back to the thread Tenafly and the main character was James McKeachin or something similar. WAS THAT OUR JIMMY MACK on Palmer. I was told this was the case back in the day by I think Rod Shard or maybe Dave Withers?? Anyone.

Just like to add I saw Teddy at the Manchester Apollo in the late 70,s or very early 80s. He was suberb. Always liked him as lead with Harold Melvin, in particular The Love I Lost. For me his individual best song was Be Sure. Actually found the programme from the show the other day. At least he can share his love for the music with Alan Pollard now. RIP. So sad.

Just like to add that the above is not correct. There is an original Jobete ( I think ) acetate with 2/3 alternate takes including 1/2/3 intro, extra instrumentation, extra verses and an instrumental. Not actually seen it for a couple of years, but it does exist. It has got the handwritten notes on the quality control remarks. I think they include words from Berry Gordy as well. Nice item.

As some will know Alan was my best mate. I have known him and Judy for about 30 years I guess. It is fantastic to see so many tributes from so many people. Glad that Mark Hopes saw it as I have been trying to let everyone know, but had no contact details. Alan was the best mate a man could have. I cannot remember EVER having a fall out. Alan ran soul nights in and around Stockport from the 70,s. The big pub on Commercial Road. Heaton Moor Rugby Club and Southlands. We used to work together and went to the 81 Cup final replay ( me Spurs him City ) we also went to various other games incliding the 87 final. Alan and Judy are my eldest son's, Tom, Godparents. After a break I started going to Soul clubs again and we started a few more ventures in Stockport. We had a one off at Stockport Cricket Club, then a few nights at a club in Cheadle Hulme then we started Gt Moor Con Club. At first we ran it every other month, but it got very popular and the club asked us to run it monthly. We had a huge number of top DJs guest for us Ginger,Hammy,Butch,Carl Willingham, Mark Bicknell, Mark Hopes and many others. My favourite memories are silly really, but whenever someone took a photo we nearly always had on the same clothes as one another. Alans face when we managed to get Butch there. Things like that. When we were younger we used to make home brew, the wine never made it from the demijohn, just a tube and a glass. Going away to the caravan in Anglesey when Danny was a baby, Mark asking questions all the time and me and Danny the only ones to sleep through the thunderstorm in the caravan. Latterley after Alan and Judy moved to Wales I did,nt see so much of him. And I bitterley regret not making a call or popping in when I am over in North Wales because I cant do it now. This post is really just a way to say goodbye and to say how much I will miss Alan. As many have said. A true gent. Lots of love Steve Foran, Lesley,Tom and Liam.
