Cooperettes/ Big Joe Turner £8 Others Reduced Plus New Additions
Steve Foran replied to a topic in Record Sales
Love the Aretha tune.Been playing it myself. -
Frankie Karl was also in either Hair or Jesus Christ Superstar. Think the Red Philtown is the rarer format. Actually got a signed copy. Richard played it on a White Philtown copy at WC.
-
Try the Exec 4 Good thing going. The backing gets faster through the whole tune.

Any Info Or Photos Of These Groups Or Artists
Steve Foran replied to Tfk's topic in All About the SOUL
There was a promo picture of the Twans in a previous posting , maybe earlier this year. On You tube a relative of one the Salvadors mentions a promo piccie. Delites sure I have seen one as they were on Bill Haleys label. Wally Cox was an actor I think. Professionals and Tamala Lewis fairly well documented. Good call though. -
Those were the days eh?
-
Very rarely turns up now Roburt. Maybe not as scarce as I thought.

Very good post Harry. As I had posted earlier today the same question pleased it wasvery informative. Funny as I posted on this original back in Jan. Good stuff. Like to add Tobi Legend on Mala Issue Eddie Regan on ABC Issue I still wonder about (say) Okeh,Decca,MGM etc.
-
Dave thanks on both counts.
-
Checked and can only see this one. ANY kind soul help please? Many thanks. Steve
-
Oh well. The Mirwood record was Bobby Lee Timberlake. Twas on the same list with AB on Phil la Soul. The blurb on the list described it as the hardest on the label. Sorry! Now to find the previous thread. Bee in bonnet time.

Will check.

Some of you will know that I have been recovering from a cancer op in Aug. Everything ok cancer gone and thanks for the messages and cards. Anyhow whilst lying here been thinking about the major label rare stuff. Just wondered what are the actual rarest per label. Atlantic, ABC, Decca, MGM etc . I am sure you get my drift. Only genuine releases if you can like either a stock or DJ copy. No one off acetates. IF its been done sorry. Just for fun. No idea about Atlantic, but I guess Yum Yums issue on ABC must rank up there. On Mirwood would it be Alfreda Brockington? ( is that major enough?). Anyhow there you go. Hope it gets the brain cells going? All the best Steve Foran.

Where Do We Stand On Northern Soul Pop?
Steve Foran replied to luxury soul's topic in All About the SOUL
I guess if they had sold well then they would all be pop records. Back in the day at WC or Yate or St Ives etc certain tunes at the time were part of the fabiric and made the scene what it was/is. However over time as a collector I find I have deleted certain tunes in my mind, would not play them BUT others which I may not have appreciated at the time have risen in stock to me. Cant really say I ever liked Tim Tam,Joe 90 et al but back then I did like and buy Bobby Goldsboro.Such is life and possibly why the scene is so rich. Funny end bit. Was d-jaying and played Billy Woods on Sussex, the next DJ played a boot of the Belmonts. Each to their own I guess. -
Hi Pete was thinking that AFTER I posted. Hope you are ok?
-
Danny Woods later went on to join Chairman of the Board. Underated singer in my view. You had me fooled TOP CLASS.
-
Dont forget the mistitled one on Stateside Open the door OF your heart as well. Guess that is fairly scarce as it was withdrawn and replaced with the correct title.
-
The start of Sandpipers Lonely too long. Bloody thing.
-
And on it goes. Anyone able to help please? Come on you Oz lads. Thanks.Steve

After a bit of research the Al Wilson Count the Days Acetate I played was an RCA recording. My copy is a 10 " two sided thing made at Sterling Studios NY. It has the release sheet with it. Good 70,s dancer. Released on an RCA subsidary by all accounts. There is one on You Tube. The release label is shown on YT. Will just have another look forgot what it was. Just really for your info. -
Yep I remember Tommy Ducks. The knickers were the thing I remember. Vagually remember the coffin. Crazy place. Think it got knocked down a few years ago!! I seem to recall there being some kind of protest. Funnily enough we were in China Town last night in Manchester, T Ducks was around there somewhere I think.
