  1. Funny how your memory plays tricks. Thought it was more Purple in colour. Thanks chaps.
  2. Just thinking about this the other day. Not seen one for yonks. Just wonder if anyone knows the story behind this boot. Seems to be scarce nowadays. Anyone know anything about it? Please?
  3. Agree totally Pete. Just a mystery that he can post it up in the manner he has. Surely he has more knowledge than that?
  4. Should someone TELL the dealer?
  5. So what do we say to the one for sale at £425? THAT is Green with Silver lettering which I always believed to be a second/re-issue/boot?? Interesting at the very least.
  6. There is a 70,s release on Green PIR the Philly label. Think it mentions about 6/8 artists on said label. Cant for the life of me remember what it is called think Lou Rawls is on there for 1. Sort of Feed the world type thing.
  7. Anyone got a Mowest 3002 copy of The Night for sale please?
  8. Talking sense Dave Thorley. Yes always liked RS C/Us. Great trying to get the real name THEN trying to obtain a copy. Even today I refer to Vicky Baines as Christine Cooper. I think I have introduced as such as well. My all time fave has to be The Group I dont like to lose. C/U Joe Matthews and the Inserts in terms of intrigue and as a powerhouse tune at WC.
  9. Anyone able to name the 3 girls backing Aretha. Great watch!
  10. Hi Julian Around £250/£300 I guess. You ok? Steve
  11. Did Andy use to have long hair and wear very baggy patchwork denim jeans? I think I knew him. I knew Danny via Peterborough and St Ives then he went to WC. I made the semis of the dance comp the year he won it. Went EVERY weekend to WC from Easter to the annivesary. Christ to be young again. Danny, Jethro and Pete from Hemel were probably the best dancers I saw. RIP Danny.
  12. Yes I have said that for years. True proven rarities and quality as well.
  13. The Jean Carter c/u thread reminded me. Did he also play a Diane Lewis tune. Not sure of title , label or even format. Think he played at our do about 12years ago along with JC. Good tune. Any help appreciated. Thanks Chaps. Steve
  14. Not my cuppa tea. Cant sing a note. DIRGE. BUT love Frankie Crockers description above.
  15. Never ceases to amaze me how our scene sprung up in pockets around the UK. Reading the piece about Richard Selwood from Gloucester it reminded me of the Bedford scene back in the 70,s. The older guys Stick, Dave Smith, Jim Thomas etc had a reputation and I always believed that they had more than a shout in the closing of VaVas. Then us Bedford lot Paul Shirley,Tony Hirst, Andy Felts, Hammy, Steve Cooper, Lloyd Walk, Tony Warot etc all kind of emerged at the same time. Decent collections, record hunters and good dancers. We organised regular soul nights at Kempston Rovers, Addison Centre and others I cant recall. Travelled around the country organised buses to WC,Yate etc. Good times. Just weird how one area can have this where as another town within striking distance did not have the same desire. Say Luton in Bedfords case. Not forgetting the stalwarts from St Neots like Barry ( De-To), Dave Fleming, Tiny, Kev Sandiford. Plus Mick Smith and the Hitchen/Letchworth lot. Anyone from Bedford recall Thursday evening in The Pilgrims before the weekend? One night I remember was with Winnie and trying to do a runner from an Indian. Winnie got out but threw chairs over blocking the others behind him. Naughty naughty!! Just wondered what other areas had a scene but up the road did,nt?
  16. I noticed the Johhny Hendley went for over £700. Looked very similar.
  17. Just had a look at popsike as well. Bloody WDJ like london cabs! Oh well. Still think I have seen far more issues over time. Up till today that is!! Lol!
  18. I think the demo is rarer. Seem loads of issues but only my demo and Hammies back in the 70,s. Just my view. Comparable costings as far as I recall.
  19. Yes released on both. Had issue upgraded to a demo. BUT an 8 track wow!
  20. Please pass on my sincere thoughts. Did,nt know him but felt I did.
  21. No sadly forced to miss. Mate Ged was sulking after going to watch Stockport County get relegated and Julian B was away. So Billy no mates and cos of my operation last Aug not yet fully mobile and driving is an arse. Good set sad I missed it. My sort of stuff.
  22. Really peed off I could not make it. Ged was sulking after County got relegated, Julian B was away and I am not yet fit enough to drive that far. Top stuff apart from G Lemons which is dreadful IMO.
