  7. got the "right sound", just like "age of the wolf" by susan coleman, and yes, from that period when the scene developed blueeyedsoulitis which of course, is sneered at by elitists then as it still is now....but everyone danced to it and if it got spun now the same would happen again....i have even been considering getting myself a copy just recently....got to keep your finger on the pulse, yes?...always liked the label as well...oh, by the way...CHECK OUT "TICK-TOCK" BY CONNIE STEVENS bell 1971 thom bell production blue eyed philadelphia soul...WHAT A CORKER!! ROB.H
  8. marc, always knew deep down there had to be another cut of this track, now youve shown the way. remember john vincent playing this at wigan but at the time i thought the batteries in my cassette were shot as it sounded speeded up when i played it at home!. just to add irony, i bought a copy of the "slower" version off kieth williams about 9 years ago thinking it was the real deal. it was released on deluxe i think but i have seen other gaines releases on hbr and he was quite prolific on other labels....SO NOW I WILL BE LOOKING FOE EITHER 7" OR LP.....ANYONE SELLING?...on hbr (of course!) rob.h
  9. anyone willing to part with a copy of "hey girl"? rob.h
  10. hi john, ditto comments to kieth, last time i actually heard it played was 2 or 3 years ago by rob smith but it is a great tune, almost psychedelic but there were some wierd and wonderful tunes played at the casino in the first 3 years, some you wouldnt get away with now but some are ripe for long deserved spin. rob.h
  11. hi kieth, dunno...not seen it in a long time....HAD a copy of lp in 70's....and your'e not gonna believe this but it was last track on side 1 so....got a sharp knife and cut it out to make a perfect 7"....HOW CRIMINAL WAS THAT?!....young and foolish in them days but this was massive at wigan and to be honest the cardboard(standard issue)sleeve does look tremendous an the title fits perfectly as it is on jubilee records however....value? you're the dealer so i guess id rely on your best guess....how does that sound? rob.h

  14. how about eloise laws - "if i dont watch out" - liberty 1980 gloria lynne - "ive got to tell somebody" - uk djm/us canyon tina mason - "what"(version) - capitol 5th dimension - "what does it take" - bell hearts of stone - "what does it take" - vip magnificent men - "keep on climbin" - capitol lori burton - "gotta make you love me" - mercury
  15. hi mick, has anyone ever conducted research on how the sleeve notes marry up to the pic yet this confusion persists, even after the same pic was printed in kev roberts 500 book.personally im convinced it is tina mason as the 2008 cd compilation released through cherry red has a concise booklet displaying various photos of ms.mason and consideration has to be given to the fact that this album was supervised by david axelrod plus the various tv appearances. it would be a bit foolhardy of anyone to try and pull the wool over the eyes of capitol records by having someone else pose as their latest protege, even in 1966....still as you and i know, this is fascinating piece of history, that only the northern soul scene can throw up!....and THIS VERSION is far superior to judy streets despite what happened to that at wigan. mick, if you have a sound clip, put it up on soul source and let people judge which version they prefer.
  16. how about "highwaymans"....dick turpin? rob.h
  17. voice judy street yes?....picture...DEFINITELY NO....this is tina mason, who also recorded "what" on the "something wonderful" lp u.s. only. check out photo on raresoulman - rarest of rare page. rob.h
