  1. One of my favourites from the label. Is that 12" the same mix? Does it sound better on 12"? Best, David
  2. Have to agree with Mal and say I prefer "I wish I knew". Butterfli doesn't sound right to my ears, I got the Balja release it's a bit all over the place to be honest. I always thought "I wish I knew" worked better as a slow take. Each to their own :-) Dave
  3. Reads fine on my Android phone. Dave
  4. Really enjoyed it as well and quite a refreshing approach to the cd vinyl debate. Thanks for sharing Mike. Dave
  5. I'm very dubious of using youtube as a reference for music as you can't tell what is what and the images often don't relate to the sound file in question. Dave
  6. I had a few dodgy Atlantic (US) styrene issues, Barbara Lewis "fool, fool, fool" which had distortion (cue burn) for the first 10 seconds and "still remember the feeling" which played with distortion all the way through. I replaced both with vinyl copies but SRTF doesn't play great, maybe a general pressing, mastering fault? Have to say that most of my Atlantic 45's are vinyl. I've also got a mint condition vinyl Tyrone Davis "please consider me" that plays with distortion throughout. Dave
  7. What a wonderful track. Dave
  8. Thanks Godz, another one for the wants list. Dave
  9. That's a nice track . Is it on one of his albums? Dave
  10. That’s an Interesting point. Can you post a sound-clip of "Why girl" recorded from your TT? I’ll do the same tomorrow using my Stanton AL500 for comparasion. If enough people did the same, maybe we could arrive at some definitive conclusions in this thread? Any thoughts appreciated. Dave
  11. Thanks for that Andy, really enjoyed reading your recollections of the man himself. I never met him but will never forget first hearing the Small Faces Decca singles and greatest hits (immediate) lp's back in the mid 80's and everything falling into place. Thanks for the book recommendation, I've just purchased a copy. Dave
  12. What I think Quinvy is saying is that mono soul 45's have a limited resolution. For example, if you play a copy of "if this is love" by the Precisions the detail simply Isin't there to hear, no matter how good your set up. I have to agree with an earlier post that the single most important thing you can do to improve sound quality is to play your mono records with a mono stylus. Love and peace, Dave
  13. Steve Marriott - still #1 in my heart - thanks for sharing. Dave
  14. Save your money and buy something decent, as with the majority of cheap tech they aren't worth the hassle. Dave
  15. This one regularly pops up for between £10-20. https://www.ebay.co.uk/itm/Shirley-Caesar-Stand-the-storm-I-Belive-Hob-Is-Gospel-VG-1975-Black-Gospel-/141495636589?pt=Music_on_Vinyl&hash=item20f1cc126d Dave
  16. Great tune alright, nice flip side too
  17. And I thought I'd done well selling my copy for £120 a few months ago. Dave
  18. Have you played that sound file? Sounds wrong. Dave
  19. That's a great choice, love the piano break. Dave
  20. My one is the flip of Duke and the Blazers "runaway people" which is a wonderful slowie called "I'm so all alone". The flip to "suffering wrath" is superb as well. Dave
  21. Cheers for the info Andy. I never knew there were so many big names involved in the record. Dave
  22. Don't Wheelsville releases have "Sheldon" stamped in the dead wax? Dave
  23. The Kent re-issue blows all the other versions out of the water, even the original. The destiny release from the 80's always sounded awful, no fidelity whatsoever. Dave
  24. Absolutely brilliant! Thanks Dave
