  1. This is the great sounding stereo mix that beats the s**t outta the 80's "SOS" bootleg. DAve
  2. Originally given away as a 100 anniversary single but since released years back on the kent "Do the crossover" cd. Great track but surely only one for 100 club anniversary completists as you can pick up the 7" Kent re-issue for less than a tenner? Dave
  3. Great Tune. Had the record for years and only played the flip recently. It's my preferred side now. Dave
  4. In my earlier years I often lent records out to mates with dodgy record players only to have them come back knackered. It was a part of growing up I suppose. I once bought a used copy of a soul compilation lp featuring Wilson Pickett's version of "land of a thousand dances" and the first 20 seconds wouldn't play as the previous owner played the intro too many times. The rest of the track played fine. I often find a similar problem with my old collection of Kent compilations. The tracks that I really liked at the time play & sound pretty rough now through overplaying. Dave
  5. Don't forget to flip it over, great track as well. Dave
  6. Caught him last night on "later with Jools Holland" and he was incredible. Dave https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=ByQiNG82LTo
  7. Hi Liam. Love both the Majestics and Bobby Kline. I really think it's a case of time and place and your state of mind when hearing them. Dave
  8. Anyone know which one was the first label release? Dave
  9. 'Sly girl' is great as well Dave
  10. They are probably pricing them going by popsike prices, which are rubbish anyway. You'll get a copy for a realistic price but you have to be patient. https://www.ebay.co.uk/sch/i.html?_nkw=mckinley+travis&_in_kw=1&_ex_kw=&_sacat=0&_okw=&_oexkw=&_adv=1&LH_Complete=1&_udlo=&_udhi=&_samilow=&_samihi=&_sadis=200&_fpos=&LH_SALE_CURRENCY=0&_sop=12&_dmd=1&_ipg=50 BTW. My £5 copy was in ex condition but plays great. Happy hunting Dave.
  11. Not been booted to the best of my knowledge. Also came out on the :marina' label. I got my soul town copy for £5, last year but £10 is a more realistic price . Dave
  12. Cheers Barry. I've already got that one. Best of luck with your sales. Dave
  13. What version of Leon Collins is it, Elf 800 or 8001? Cheers, Dave
  14. I didn't know we were only talking about the title John. Both tracks have different lyrics and the same backing track. Dave
  15. Two of my favourites: Bob Relf - Girl, You're My Kind Of Wonderful The Olympics - Girl You're My Kind Of People Best, Dave
  16. You're welcome Christian...yep, an incredible tune that make me feel good to be alive. Dave
  17. Cheers Phil but I missed that one, been a bit slow with Mother's day and all that. Dave
  18. "That lonely night" is one of my all time favourite tracks and (luckily) pretty easy to locate as it was a big seller back in the day. Here's his other big one , which is a bit harder to track down... Best, Dave
  19. Cheers Jim. Now to get a copy. Dave
  20. Does anyone know if its the same mix on both the Sagport and ABC releases? Thanks in advance Dave
  21. I've got the cd and had a carver done which I would play out, not that I would ever dj again ;-)
  22. Hi malc. I'll take the roscoe Robinson, chuck jackson & Charles perry 45's if you still have em ' Dave
  23. My Dad had a complete Akai system which he bought in the early 80's. I remember the 'Mono' switch on his amp and how effective it was at removing the distortion on my mono 45's back then. Even to this day I play my 60's records in mono. Dave
  24. Gotta agree, "it's bad" is one hell of a track. Dave
  25. I've got these three 45's as well and rate them very highly. Does anyone know if he has any other releases worth checking out? Dave
