  1. I agree with yourself and Dave Jock but one point about the extras....I know they aren't paying them but for my niece who is doing a performing arts course it is valuable experience for her. Especially if it does well and she gets picked for some of the dancing scenes-she can put it on her cv! She isn't bothered about the fee, she's happy to give it go for the experience Maybe people who are in key dancing scenes will get paid in the end?
  2. Drink red wine, no need for chilling.....and that way I won't be the only one sporting a vimtoesque tach Sounds great to me compared to the prices in some venues...although the places I generally tend to be on the cheaper sider...like Broughton where they almost pay you for a pint
  3. A few from me: Maze featuring Frankie Beverley - The Look in your eyes Johnny Bristol - Love takes tears Isaac Hayes - Rolling down a mountainside Thelma Jones - How Long Sharon Ridley - Changin Jean Carn - Was that all it was Swiss Movement - Wish our love would last forever Jackie Moore - This Time Baby Marva Hicks -Looking over my shoulder
  4. I thought that Joan...what a strange post!!
  5. Isn't it just a youngsters/oldies are rubbish hybrid thread?
  6. I may be joining you on the injury list as on Bank Holiday Saturday my Joe my son is 3 and we have got a Pirates bouncy castle ...who wants to come eh? Steve Cato I haven't booked a clown yet.....are you available
  7. My husband's cousin is a young(17) trained dancer who specialises in street dance and gymnastics. If she applies to be an extra is there anything she needs to tell you on the form to let you know this?
  8. Ah well if you're going to use that criteria not to like a record then there would be a few on the list!! Unless they're long dead of course or female Let's just say Mr Mitchell isn't a one off
  9. He's in a few things now-that new family comedy with Nick Lyndhurst, used to be in Two Pints of Lager. Not seen him in yonks cos I don't go to allniters that much-he's a nice lad
  10. So they've not asked you to help then Paul? I remember Lee who was in your play went out to venues for months on end and I suppose that must have helped him get a bit of a feel of it If they are advertising for extras for filming now for August, how much time must that give them?
  11. That would probably work ...would have to be very dark and airbrushed for a lot of us though
  12. I dont get this? Surely people on here are the WRONG AGE to dance in this film? Is it going to be an historically accurate portrayal or not? You seem to contradict yourselves by saying it is and then asking a bunch of 30 /40/50 year old to dance in it? On the day , if people are new to the style do you give them a group class for 10 minutes? Whats the approach to this, im confused?
  13. I'll pm ya the venue
  14. I knew that...honest
  15. That's the one...the memory's not what it used to be My husband goes mad when I forget stuff but I think my brain has a one in one out policy re records these days
  16. I went to a night a few years ago (sorry I'm too shy to mention which one.. ) and a lot of the records mentioned on this thread were played including the Man about the House theme (condition red... ). For a one off it was a bit of fun but I got the impression that it wasn't a one off for that venue. I've been to a few oldies nights but this was something else. Also on the list played that night were: Boogie Man Orchestra -Lady lady lady (instrumental) Gentleman and their lady - Like her Apples peaches pumpkin pie - Jay and the Techniques and what's that one called that goes "standing at the station, waiting for the number 8 train.."..is it Beverly Ann? Anyway....it seems that one person's "never again" is anothers "yes please" as the place was packed!
  17. What a fantastic thread, I just love old stories like this especially when so eloquently told..I am a fan of the track too (ordered one the other day)... so makes it even more interesting to read!! I sincerely hope there's more where that came from
  18. From that description I'm guessing you lived in Aspull? I used to work in a pub in Whelley and get the last train to Warrington Parr Hall after my shift....too young for Wigan went to Maximes a few times in the 80s when (I think) RS had nights there
  19. Sounds better loud..doesn't hit the spot quite so much when played at home or at a small venue but it's perfect for a packer. Starts off slowly and builds up to the chorus...I can still hear the clapping. It's one of those "happy days" tunes...bit like Ruby Andrews and Jackie Wilson-Because of You. Maybe the reason that all three of these are so overplayed is because they are all excellent soul records
  20. Oh lord yes....was he trying to be Elvis or what?
  21. I love it when folk talk about sweet memories of WC rather than being dead precious about it. I have similar memories about walking into Warrington Parr hall..the smell of talc, orange ice lollies, the first bar of The Pyramid....it can never be as good as when you're young..I can remember nights in the Hacienda and on Mod rallies that invoke similar memories..let's face it it's never going to be as good as when we were younger is it...but there's nothing wrong with trying is there you're a long time dead!!!
  22. I have to agree with Pete. Its the sort of bad pop record that stopped me going out on the Mod scene-sounds too much like something my dad would listen too along with his Jim Reeves and Everly Brothers lps
  23. I started to fill the form in and got put off my the weight questions I thought about knocking a size off but then i got the image of me trying to squeeze my fat ass in a size 6 circle skirt (okay more than one size.... ).
  24. He he....and the dodgy vespas Lets face it some of you are loving it picking this film to pieces before its even been released... i can anticipate the debate when it's come out...sort of along these lines.... "That record was never played by anyone wearing glasses".. "Russ Winstanley's moustache ws definitely longer on the left side" Star jumpers at the casino?...they were so 1977"
