It's awful isn't it Rach, I have had much trouble going anywhere near the news over the last few days as a mother of small children. It really is as bad as it gets! Maybe a few nights will have a whipround on the night this weekend and we will all maybe dig a a little and send a bit of what we can afford. Virtually, I've had access to the internet almost since it started so i've been lurking about Soul forums for a good few years now. Actually, I've been attending soul dos on and off since I was old enough to get past the door staff. And yes I do think that the internet has influenced how the "actual" soul scene has developed -in many ways. For years and year I went to places and just knew a few folk here and there and that was fine. Since KTF, NiteOWL (what was the other one called that Martin did?) I've probably met about 100 more people who I probably never would have talked to otherwise as I am a little bit shy in real life. Also "virtually" there are people on here who I chat to like one of the family and I've never met em! It has to be a good thing, the fibbing is a problem but that has always gone on. I can remember lads in the 80s bragging about their record collection when we knew all they had at home was a couple of SOS labels and the Big Wheels of Motown LP. It's just easier now with the availibilty of information out there. But real life is the same-everybody is an expert on everything these days!

I think the amount that they would certainly ask questions is 10K. They may ask for lower amounts depending on the bank. So long as you have an explantion though there shouldn't be a problem.

If you do that check with them that there won't be any significant delay. Sometimes if the branch is busy they don't key the paying in slips in until after the busy period so it may not show on Johnny's account for an hour or two, I can't see that there should be a problem with the amount -it may be different if it was £10K! But check nevertheless just in case before you pay it in! The other alternative is a bankers draft?

After counting on one hand how many times I've attended a soul type event in 2009 I have decided to try and make an effort to get out more in the New Year! But I am very set in my ways and apart from the obvious events that I always attend I haven't been anywhere "new" for as long as I can remember! Therefore, I am calling out to all you Soul Source dirty stop outs for recommendations for 2010!! I am going to be open minded on this and not specify any particular music style or type of event (ie niter,weekender, soul night). I'm not even going to insist that it is easy to get to from Manchester - if it's good enough I can book a room or suffer the train. So please help if you can contribute to my official coming out of hibernation year

Rachel and I used to get mistaken for each other a lot - obviously in the dark as the girl is nearly 10 years younger than me!! I also used to get mistaken for my friend Julie who didn't have glasses and actually looked "totally different to me" except the fact we were both blonde and around the same age. I put that down to being hammered, there's no other explanation
