Right thats the gauntlet thrown down.....will dig deeper and less of the outright Mod stuff.Ken has included ska in his list and northern novelty.I would be here forever if we could include ska although I have a few soul/ska tunes ie smooths and sorts. Just thought of where my Sue box is.............

Did it empty straight away?...which Ellie Greenwich one was it and was there a drastic change in tempowhich is why people left the floor?I hate dancefloors where they have the lights on...you feel as though you're on a football pitch.

Tony Wilson-What Did I Do Jimmy Thomas-Springtime Notations-Need Your Love (Great track on Chapter One Records) Mixtures-Monkey Jazz (this sounds like moondance....ten years before Moondance) The James Galt Tracks In My Own Way and a Most Unusual Feeling (got a spare US copy on Arora although Im sure he is British)

£25,492.00 ...........So the producer got that.I wonder how much dribbles down to the artists and then the musicians. They were probably paid a flat fee like library musicians.Bump shop copies will probably rise in value now.Keeping my copy though...Dennis Coffey on guitar I think.
-
Great record. Gilles Peterson stuck it on a comp which is how Adidas probably picked up on it.Im sure it was played in a record shop in the Martin Freeman documentary on Detroit in front of the producer of it.Hopefully he will get a few dollars out of it.

Any chance of a list of Big Cleethorpes sounds and records that were pioneered there and then went big elsewhere.

I'm confused. I bought Grease Wheels 45 by the Smokin Shades Of Black at Dingwalls from a dealer called Alan in 88. I bought it as a funk instrumental (a break from buying Candido and Jack Costanzo LP's). Just dug it out and I now think of it as a great northern soul instrumental...does this mean it has crossed over as it's gone from the funk box to the northern box?? .

Most Expensive British Demo And Issue And Usa Demo And Issue
Wiggyflat replied to Staceys Dad's topic in All About the SOUL
So someone got in touch with Kama Sutra in the US and arranged with them to have a few thousand pressed for the UK northern soul market??. I thought Ember had the rights to that label in the UK.? They pressed it with English labels (Im assuming its the 71 no centre issue as Ive never seen a US 45 with the typical English 3 prong which is on one of my copies)...so that makes the 71 3 prong the original and the no centre the US pressed custom pressed legitimate second UK issue....and wait for it the mispressed no centre custom UK pressing econd issue pressed in the US with the wrong track is the rarity....Who had it pressed then.It mut have been before the soul fox was around.
