From my experience of crate digging and the ones I mostly see. Studio one.............Puppet On A String must have been popular or overpressed,Bamboo keep coming across Rainy Night In Georgia.Big Shot is Judge Dread.Blue Beat is Al Capone in a myriad of colours nearly as many as The Showstoppers on Beacon!!.Ive got about 150 Blue Beats but Ive stopped buying them because I dont know what ive got.The Coxone popular one seems to be Ram Jam (cant remember the other side). The Pama popular one is Pat Kelly How Long Does It Take. Doctor Bird..Lady With The Red Dress On.The Carnival one is Sugar n Dandy What A Life. The Island one is The Vikings Hallelujiah and The Tennors Ride Your Donkey.....Im not going to go into Trojan although the early full orange label are harder ones...Never see Ska Beats or Grape that much and the Dice one I usually see is Little Schoolgirl (or is that Starlite?).on an unrelated note a good hit was in a shop with mint copies of Rumblers-Soulful Jerk on UK King. They were that mint that the flimsy paper sleeve was hard to take off.Went in week after week and paid a tenner each.Must have bought 5 copies. This place had the mint Guns Of Navarones as well.Is there anything else decent on UK King apart from River Keep Movin/Bitter into Sweet and Jackie Opal? (keep buying blind recent duffers are The Rocomars and some Irish showband although I have a Sam And Dave LP minus the cover)..

Is this the same R&B Label who released Georgie Fames first 2 discs, Orange Street being one of them. Think that label was white with blue writing. Will have to dig my copies out.Think it stands for Rita and Benny the labels owners.I think most ska and reggae can be found cheaply with some notable exceptions. All the records seem to be knackered although there are copies of mint Guns Of Navarone circulating and some mint stuff on UK Bread.LP's are more expensive (forgetting the Tighten Ups etc which must have sold by the bucketload) I seem to find uk Island ska stuff all at reasonable prices and I see Carnival stuff all the time...Sugar n Dandy.I find it's the 69/70 stuff thats more expensive and harder to get.

UK artist who recorded a few records in the sixties....a track called Feeling is his best one and is better than There Isnt Anything .See If She Cares is a bit ropey...so avoid.Usually backed by Chris Lamb and the Universals.

Sorry agent Choc Soup were good but couldnt get to grips with Nuggets....really bad productions.Prefer the UK stuff like Wimple Winch,Caleb,Tomorrow etc.We are Soul Hippies -
Bland record....used to do the jazz rooms in Southport and wander into the soul room where this stuff was being played by the bucketload by Richard S, Curtis,Yogi Haughton, Woodcliffe etc.Used to leave after 20 mins.Think they called it 2 step but it made me want to goose step.....out the door.Nearest I get to liking this sort of stuff is Rena Scott-We Can Make It Better

This okay to my ears.......not amazing but okay.Probably an ender (bit expensive for an ender although I class Pyramid as an ender and thats a few quid). Now Boz Scaggs You Make It So Hard is in another class. https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=p7PM84eCiMI -
Attention to detail....I'm assuming this night in the video isn't based on Wigan Casino.Hair too short and the black feller is dressed like someone out the eighties/nineties.It must based on a night in London as theres a London Road sign near to the window..Theres a feller with a modern Tamla Motown T shirt on......at least theres no dodgy holdalls

Just picked them up over the years.Love Graham Bond one of the greats who came through the modern jazz scene through Don Rendell. He appears on a Winston G 45 Please Dont Say...I even like his Magik period where he went all pagan.A lot of those modern jazzers Phil Seaman and Bondy come to mind took hard drugs (heroin) and had their lives cut short.I have a short clip of Bond in a film called the Breaking of Bumbo (Joanna Lumley) and theres some skinheads in it who bottle Dim from A Clockwork Orange (its a 69/70 flick) I rate The Open Mind LP as great UK rock with Cream influences.Dave did you ever hear of a group called The Next Collection who had a regular gig at Streatham Ice Rink from 69/70.They eventually got signed and released an LP on Uk Polydor as Secondhand called Reality (LP has a cover of a x ray piccie of a hand). Its a downer LP and it ecapsulates to me the shift from lysergics to darker drugs. It has a semi concept about a south London Clown called Dennis James who drowns in his bath in the Elephant and Castle. You can almost smell the greatcoats and patchouli oil.Their other LP is Death May Be Your Santa Claus (posted pic earlier) and the bass player was ??? who released a Mod/ska revival 45 and ended up in an oi group!!....Bootboys.I remember living on a rough estate in Pallister Park in Middlesbrough and there being gangs of kids in crombies, purple beagle collar shirts, feather hair with a cross earing and parallels with turn ups and DM's.As a kid in 77 I went through a dealer boot phase.Had the lot..lace ups, brogues, DM dealers, full of blakeys.Used to have to get them from a shop called Darkie Tans who mainly sold to gypsys. All the boro boot boys ruled the Holgate end at Ayresome.....Teeside aggro Hello hello (Gary Glitter).Youre Going Home In A North Tees Ambulance........He shot he missed he must be fucking pissed David Mills David Mills....he shot...he scored and all the Holgate roared David Mills. The Saint Man tattoos/tank tops and borstal spots. BTW Tony check out The Dog Presides by Paul Jones which has Jeff Beck on guitar and Come Inside My Music Box from his solo LP. -

Have you heard their LP Soul Of Mann.....i'ts the red one with a picture of a voodoo shrunken head on it or something like that. Its a cover version LP but the covers are all instrumentals and very jazzy.Theres a mental version of My Generation on it which has more in common with Cal Tjader than Pete Townshend.Just finished watching Paul Jones in a film called The Commitee which is bizarre and pre his Privelage days.Arthur Brown appears in some living room and does Nightmare.Beats Peter Sherster gluing chairs to the ceiling at the UFO Club -
Dont think so.Its more in the british r&b/mod style.Reminds me of the Yardbirds.....in fact he did "aint done me wrong" on his LP.Got his LP which is great.I'm sure he ended up in Blood Sweat and Tears or some other big band.Maybe ....its the new northern soul

Great LP.Been digging trying to find it.............Country Roads take me home, to the place I belong West Virginia.Remember the cover has the band on it in early seventies mode ie Sly Stone etc.Did find Tommy Hunt live at Wigan in 76 on LP though UK Spark and Major Lance Torch LP promo along with the Hinckley Lp....

Ever Had Someone Refuse To Sell You 45's?

Remember buying records off a dealer in Morden.......big backroom. Spent a few hours there and found some nice bits.A little pile of about ten. All unpriced. What do you want for these then? Well let me check the book..... that f***n book.Came to a deal and left. Went back a few weeks later and found a bigger pile...this would take him hour to check that f***n book.I ensured a price of a quick £2 each by sticking in Wombles and Cliff records and a quick exit and no f****n book. -
Whats the Beacon record?. Is it just another different Houseparty variation.
