  3. Youre Too Much A Part Of Me-Patti Austin Got To Have You-4 Tempos (amazing record) Dont It Make You Feel Funky-Joe Hicks Trick Me, Treat Me-Cobblestone Time Wont Let Me- (memory loss Tom King label) Dance A La Music-French Fries Theres loads and most dont get played.....but Kurt Harris does!!!!
  4. You should advertise them as rare boots and stick them in an old plastic record box..................unopened since Wigan closed and watch the bids fly in.
  5. I have one.....the Action version is better. This is more baroque pop with cellos and an instrumental version on the flip...........think the Left Banke.A.I like it a pop record but not as a northern record
  6. It was the Marvin Holmes -You Better Keep Her 45
  7. Just dug the Soul Of Change Out.......UK Windmill WMD121.......without Mrs Soul on it.Its Got To Be You,Take Care Of Homework,First In Line,Heart On A String,Wind Of Change,Fredom Train,People Got To Be Free,Make Me Yours,Keep On Trying,Peace (sic) Of My Heart,Oh!Darling, You Dont Stand A Chance. So original issue Up Front Wind Of Change....second pressing on Windmill and Soul Of Change.Windmill was a definate budget reissue label from the late sixties/early seventies as I have seen loads of stuff at car boots on Windmill.A favourite of mine is a Chico Lopez Lp.....the track trouble spot.So which is the £200 record the Windmill second pressing or the Upfront original.....Im sure from memory there is a slightly different track listing.I must dig my Joe E Young and The Tonics LP on Toast out along with the Herbie And The Royalists LP.I must be listening to stuff with different ears!!
  8. Ive got both Upfront and Windmill Lp's. The Windmill is quite common at UK record fairs and was a Woolworths type LP.Fair play to anyone that can get £200 for it. it.Looks like the Uk ska/reggae labels with soulish tracks are becoming in vogue.Probably because most were UK only.I have a few Upfront 45's on the black label as well.Is there a particular track on the LP people are after and can we havea collectable UK Soul on reggae labels thread....
  9. They managed to get one and a half of the original Wigan deejays....
  10. The Motown bar is still in Catford..........looks a bit worn at the moment but is still open. Its only 15 mins away....might pluck up courage to pop in.
  11. Were you there at this night???? https://www.punk77.co.uk/groups/demolitionwigancasino.htm
  12. Ive got one Pete but i dont want to sell it ........Carl and Maria Willingham started playing it and it went up to £150....get to one of the big uk record fairs and you will find them at a tenner along with This Train and Robin Hood Rides Again.
  13. I always thought there were always babies at allnighters.......i keep seeing parents wide eyed walking around carrying Johnson baby powder
  14. I thought it was the dancers at the Twisted Wheel copying the American soul artists that visited.Keb Darge reckons that karate moves influenced the dancing in the mid seventies. What was the dancing like at the Torch and when did swallow dives into splits etc arrive.Ive also heard that the dancing at the mecca was a lot different...probably due to the funkier sounds.Whatever happened to the mecca shuffle........usually done to Time by Edwin Starr.I know a couple of kids that are being taught by Mr Sadot on here for the other (credible?) northern soul film.
  15. Just had an alternative cut of In Love (with horns ) e mailed to me from the man himself......Tony Galla.Might play it on Saturday. Got a styrene and paper label of the Perigents....always thought it was a boot.
  16. Ian Dewhirst Ian Levine Richard Searling
  17. And the video features Sandy Sarjeant who did Cant Stop The Want on Polydor ...........she married Ian Mcglagan from The Faces
  18. Reminds me of a Viz character Norbert Colon......do you sell records ie small plastic/vinyl objects that are placed on machines what are commonly known as record decks and do you have any particular items that were popular in the northern regions of seventies working class Britain? .....yes,what do you want?......I do not want to purchase any of the said items...i was merely enquiring whether these were the wares you were offering..........
  19. makes you blind by the glitter band was played back to back with purple haze johnny jones
  20. If you havent got the money dont buy it or offer to buy it......it's not rocket science.Id like to own some rare pieces of art...I wouldnt go to Sothebys, spend all day looking at the catalogues and start bidding on the Monet and then run out the door when it came to paying up...........this is the cyber equivalent (without the bidding).By the way e bay sellers beware of fake you have been paid paypal e mails....I got stung for £40 recently on a reggae lp and the buyer being in London I went to visit him with a few friends. It was a Polish squat in Shoreditch. Check his feedback https://myworld.ebay.co.uk/alhidek/
  21. White plains-My Baby Loves Lovin deram .....mono version Jigsaw-Sky High
  22. Didn't Neil Rushton do this in the seventies in a way at the Ritz..........Blackpool Mecca versus Wigan. The Ritz must have been neutral territory.Wasnt it Sam playing stompers and Levine come on with Jaws and the same dancers stayed on the floor!!..Maybe Jaws should be played again as theres plenty sharks out there.I had all this rubbish with the Rocket but that was more to do with a battle of music styles and the supposed London scene not wanting oldies and to keep it on a more r&b mod tip.As Jerry Butler said Only The Strong Survive. If you want to do battle and meet people head on then you can't expect Queensberry Rules.....38 years in the promoting game..mmmm
  23. Ive got the blue US Hi EP....Did it come with a picture cover?
  24. Thought it would be a good idea .....then the thought of someone playing The Magnetics or George Lemons all the way up would raise the risk asst level to high/danger .Did a few coaches to the Ritz bank holiday niters from London which were a laugh and the Pompey boys always did a coach to the Rocket. So legend has it there used to be a coach to Wigan from Stockton on Teees that went through Middlesbrough....Jack Wardle????. I suppose most towns in the seventies had coaches to Wigan as BR was so unreliable then.
  25. I got a Mr Dynamite in the eighties for £8 thank god. I remember deejays playing the A and having another copy ready on the other deck for the instrumental....so thats £1,066.00 or £16
