  1. Wheres the club? When is the next night, are they ovo? Nice to see young blood and makes "the broadminded" European scene seem tame.
  2. Mines styrene........D-MDS-1 in first run at 7 o'clock on girl side LW at 4 o'clock, BF at 3 o'clock A at 1 oclock ...........other side LW one o'clock, D-M- 05-2 in first run at just past 3'o clock.....is it a boot, if so can the soul Police be easy on me as I have played it out?
  3. uptempo motown derivative late sixties soul popularised in northern england ten words
  4. On a beermat theme.....it's not enough to stick them on your parka, not enough to use them as sweat wipers......yes let's make some trousers and wear them at Backpool Mecca'
  5. Heres an original...
  6. Released on a Uk Destiny 45 as well but I'm sure it is a re recording.....maybe The Golden 101 can shed some light.
  7. Just bought a Crosley CR6002A cheap for £100 but it had no stylus.Bit of tracking down and found this https://cgi.ebay.com/ws/eBayISAPI.dll?ViewItem&item=200459809927&ssPageName=STRK:MEWNX:IT I suppose it depends on what machine you have.
  8. The healthiest scooter scene was in the mid seventies and a lot got out in 79 when the mod revival appeared....it had been an ongoing movement since the sixties and people didn't like a load of plastics in parkas appearing.I still ride all over the country .........we are all a tame species now.Imagine organising a raid on the Casino with over a thousand kids..think they were too busy with local football matches and bootboys to spend time on looking at a load of kids .The local plod can't have had massive manpower.
  9. Want a copy of this VG Condition acceptable Corlettes/Carlettes....... I Don't Mind Im Getting Tired/Lost Without Your Love. PM Me A.T.B
  10. I think there's an Imber Soul Club reunion going to happen. If he wants a snapshot of the real scene then he maybe should visit https://www.tafsc.com/Imbersoul5.htm .And he better get some northern soul beer towels to wipe off the sweat.
  11. Don't think they know he does Kung Foo..........I thought he was a Teddy boy along with his brother Trixter
  12. A Carl and Maria Willingham spin...........come on we need to embrace pop reggae on the northern scene. There was another £10 pink Island spin as well that suddenly shot up to £150 and i have heard of a few Joyce Bond tracks being spun. Why doesn't someone book Wrighty for these deep funk northern gigs.........he's been collecting and deejaying this stuff for years as was Trouble and Jap Jimmy.
  13. This is the Modern equivalent of ..............................
  14. They must have seen soulies walking around with beer towels or wearing beer towels and thought..........there's some money to be made here.I wonder if there is a beer towel range..
  15. I drink ale, Bishops Finger, London Pride and Timothy Taylor.......never tried northern soul beer......has it got added zing....seen the baby diapers, table cloths etc...has anybody tried these? https://www.northernbrewing.co.uk/70002/info.php?p=2&pno=0
  16. There are loads of these funky reggae soul records Jackie Edwards-I Must Go Back is one of them.......who originally played Wally Coco on the funk scene and when?.It sounds like one of the records Trouble/Wrighty/Keb/Snowboy would have played for a brief period.
  17. The Shout 45 is great but the Tuska 45 is just run of the mill boring boogaloo.....is this being touted as northern souls future??. I think I will stick to Brief Encounter.....great northern styled funk and fast enough for the dancers.
  18. Or we can listen to new and undiscovered sixties northern soul sounds alongside the underplayed instead of sounds from the funk scene/latin jazz scene/doo wop scenes/rockn roll/reggae scenes.I wouldnt go to a jazz/latin night and expect to hear Eddie Parker although i wouldn't be suprised to hear Charlie Parker
  19. I think it's a great record but there's hundreds out there with the similar sort of riffs......oh yes it's called Deep Funk.It seems northern deejays are getting on the deep funk bandwagon ten years too late and force feeding it on the northern soul scene.A few of these type of records aren't bad but there's deejays who play whole sets of it.I'ts an Emperors new clothes scenario. It was/is still being tried with latino lowrider/doo wop sounds and the latin soul thing. It seems people will play anything to avoid the traditional sounding northern records.I'm waiting for The Damned/Pistols etc to be touted as the new thing then I'm selling it as northern punk. Think I might start spinning this........he's a proper northern soul
  20. Don't know whether this little documentary has been flagged up before but it's very interesting.....DJ Derek the oldest white reggae deejay.Makes some northern deejays seem young... the man is still young in his head which is all that matters https://vimeo.com/1758371
  21. Always fancied a wooden box .........all the northern deejays used to have them, a 150 count box. This is the nearest I could find on the net...........don't like all the catches etc on it.Might get my chippie mate to knock one up https://www.reggaerecord.com/en/catalog/description.php?code=200180 .Im sure old Singer sewing machine boxes used to get used.
  22. Four Tempos-Got To Have You................amazing tune...they outdo the Four Tops on this. This Is The Way I feel aint bad either and both cheap as chips Was it ever spun anywhere as a newie?
  23. I thought it was a Canadian group and Kev Roberts imported them in bulk.Great record though.Did they do anything else decent?
  24. Got Moving On by Kenoly.........is this just as good?.Movin on has a late sixties funky feel but not uuuuughhhh ugggh more Baby Boy.
  25. Detest Just Say Goodbye.....maudlin rubbish. I even dislike the Dave Pike instrumental................but love Catch Me I'm Falling.
