  1. Ted Cassidy The Lurch......Yate!
  2. I go to Europe quite a lot and meet the open minded youngsters there. They seem a lot sharper in regards to clothes and music.A lot of it is not my cup of tea as they are influenced by crossover, mid tempo and r n b but they are into original records and new sounds In a big way.The UK kids in the limelight are those involved in the film who are into oldies and the seventies clobber. Are they going to drop this when the film is out and interest subsided. The former youngsters I'm.more interested in as they have forged their own scene with international links while the UK is focused on the Pharrell Williams baggy trousered film kids. They seem like chalk and cheese.
  3. Right some think think this Northern soul film is a new thing. Here's Frank Gallaghers mrs before she moved .Gail Tilsleys plumber ex got on the pills here before moving to Weatherfield .It's crap really but a great soundtrack.
  4. Are they taking the p**s?? these are professional dancers aren't they who have been dressed up in seventies costumes.I don't think real soul people would do this.I will not be suprised to see a northern segment on Come Dancing....And now The Come Dancing FFFFF FFfootsee Dancers..
  5. I'm into that stuff as well...KPM,Boosey and Hawkes,De Wolfe ,Regency...Afro Rock by John Cameron is a big fave as are the Hawkshaw LP's.I've a soft spot for The Hanged Man soundtrack....Charley Farley two Ronnies sketch music to older readers!.Million miles away from soul though.
  6. Was speaking to an extra from Zulu who said exactly the same thing.I wonder if there's going to be a Floyd Another Brick video scenario.
  7. Thorstens shop is great...pulled a a Lou Roberts You Fooled Me,Hb Barnum Heartbreaker and a copy of Will You Wait out there.Reasonable prices as well oh and The Hamburg weekender is also worth visiting.
  8. Graham Bond what an artist but even he wanted a hit.Listen to Tammy. Most of the great music is when the managers left the studio with their cigars and the bands were left to be themselves on the b side.
  9. I thought there were two different archer stamps that differentiate first and second pressings.Different sized stamps.I've heard of records being too slow for the northern scene... Now too fast!!I was dancing to stuff in the same tempo last Sunday at a venue.Where is this "today's scene".?
  10. Story of the 4 Vandals on here https://www.mixcloud.com/ianlevine35/ian-levine-on-the-flip-pearce-blues-soul-official-radio-show/
  11. Not sure if Bernard is in space but the backing singers have the space effect!!$$**

  14. Does Ian Levine still have a column?...lol...... Is there any northern soul content?.I used to buy it for 2 pages in the eighties and nineties.
  15. Lorraine and The Delights..baby I need you...Four tempos...Got to have you.
  16. Sharon Scott Could It Be You.The other side Is Id like to know...proper dbl sider.
  17. Think the world has gone mad if people think the B side of Dr Love is better than the A side.
  18. I contacted the seller about the Jesse Davis. He said his brother had a big boxfull. It's a waiting game.I've seen people still trying to sell it at 800...Betty Lloyds are regularly at around 350.How many of the diff mix came out?
  19. I've just rescued a record out of the crap box......Bobby Eaton Fever, Fever,Fever on Galaxy just because someone posted the other side in sales.People have been raving over the b side of John Bowie and Dr Love....they are poor compared to the other sides. One i have turned over because someone said i should was The Embers-Watch Out Girl...that isn't bad.Ive had large cod and chips with curry tonight.
  20. They were going as low as £70 last year...I got one..
  21. The upshot though is that there is a lot more information about now.I used to buy blind after looking at a record and try and offload the turkeys. At least now you can youtube it and get the info from this very site on boots pressings etc.If you have taste and are willing to put the hours in then you should be able to build up a reasonable collection on a limited budget as the sheer volume on e bay etc is immense.Use the sniping tool to full effect. No use in chasing the current biggies if you have limited funds. And it depends on what you plan to do with the records.Collecting for yourself or deejaying.Buying the future biggies you will get no bookings or have empty dancefloors.Gone are the days when people will dance to unknown after unknown. Here in the uk anyway.A quality record is a quality record.I recently got The Remarkables Is The Feeling Still There and Fred Hughes Dont Let Me Down from this site. Both for under 50 quid. Both i think are good solid northern records and will weather the fads of the northern scene.
  22. Prefer S.O.L's Sliced Tomatoes for playing out myself segued into the rare Biddu B side Northern Dancer.
  23. Yep ..i have colour copies of some of these and its like chalk and cheese.I've another privately published book and the photos are slightly better.
