I saw the rolls Royce of record boxes,at Va Va voom.on sat being sold by Nick Brown...Hand made in highly polished walnut..200 quid a box.

Never seen any UK demos either...funnily enough I picked up a Steve Francis Watch Your Step the other week.Yep records for small scenes... Loads of irish showband music,ballads,reggae and Pop and soul.About 20 years ago a box of the Rumblers was found...you had to force the records out of the sleeves.

I bought this year's ago amongst a pile of UK acetates...it's a one sided styrene 45 with no stampers....it's a typical late sixties style soul 45... Lyrics are..come together all the people.Any clues anyone??

If RCA were involved why wouldnt they have stuck it out on Grapevine or the UK Orange RCA? Have RCA been.involved in any other label owners private pressings? All the pressings were either done by label owners or criminals to exploit the northern soul scenes demand.Why when they had legitimate labels and distribution for northern soul would they repress this??

So let's get this right.There is a high demand in England on the northern soul scene....so what we will do is press it on a facsimile Us label.....errr but boss we already have a UK outlet for the northern releases with our UK RCA Direction label aimed specifically at the northern scene...darn it press it anyway Simon Saucepan will get the blame.

I like them both...Timi probably did come out in the UK first as it was arranged by my south London neighbour Ian Green who is married to a member of The Orlons.

I've a UK Shapiro Bernstein acetate of Ben E King... Was picked up by a UK Band The Dakotas who covered it badly..the b of the Acetate is an unknown female group.I'll stick with the Timi Yuro on the UK Lp.

I used to get soul packs.Can anyone recognise this one...loads of brand new Mpac stuff Inc multiple copies of New Girl in the Neighbourhood.Ernie Marbrays Ain't Nobody's Business,Some UK Destiny stuff,Copies of That's Not Half Bad,loads of Ric Tic stuff,Wear Your Natural Baby on Blue Romark,Sugar Billy Sugar Pie,Andre Maurice Cream Of The Crop,....some dealer must have opened up the Mpac warehouse.

I've an Epitome of Sound red and flesh colourwith no braille.Bought way before the early 90s.

Before the guides I had a lovely white ric tic demo of Al Kent..Acting lately then got an issue in a soul pack which I swiftly got rid of.I've also got a flesh coloured Epitome as well.I had the green boot but got rid as it wasn't as pleasing on the eye.I still can't find that raised number on the Epitome.

What is happening now is what happened to the rockabilly scene in the seventies.Exaggerated seventies clothing can compare with the exaggerated teddy boy suits.Tv companies filming teds at run down holiday resorts.Teddy boy dad's dressing up their kids.I remember seeing teddy boy families and now we have northern soul families.And then there was the Edwardian who would have nothing to do the commercial tat.Bit like the people on here.Funny thing is the divs are calling people into new music,no fancy dress and into original records soul snobs!!It's like they are rewriting the rule book.Mr Ritson,Tim Brown,Godin,Frank Elson you were all wrong!

If you don't like this you are a "soul snob".It's what's in the grooves that counts...look I just want a full dancefloor...Koko...Owls talc..bags..etc etc.

Can we have the northern soul emblem and owls photoshopped into surreal settings like deserts,night skies,over tacky lambrettas with more union jacks on them than a jubilee day.Ktf Koko It'll Never...etc.
