  1. Think this predates Stafford....Ian Dewhirst remembers seeing it in Jumbo records in Leeds.Noted jazzer Ahmad Jamals own label. Not bad for 30 quid...but its all swings and roundabouts.Keep buying the popcorn, reggae and xover folks.Kevin Johansen.
  2. Ive just paid £130 for it A quality sixties northern track i heard out at Va Va Voom.Seen it listed at £170 after my want ad.
  3. Sorted for 175 Euros....
  4. After a copy of this on AJP...vg upwards please.PM me.
  5. People are questioning Watermans relevance...well he was busy deejaying in July 73 at Mr Georges.Whilst he was there he created acid house and the smiley symbol...isn't this common knowledge?
  6. I think Gregory Porter would have been more representative...Pharrells Happy is divvy pop music...
  7. Would have been nice to see a juxposition of old deejays talking about discovering sounds and the young deejays today that are discovering their own records. It seems that only the young souls ever get mentioned and they are not the ones taking it forward. The BBC will be on to the seventies northern scooter scene next...now that would knock a few southern mod talking heads.
  8. Ian i thought it was you that gave Marc Almond a tape with Tainted Love on it when he was working the cloakroom at The Warehouse.Wasn't David Ball the soul fan?Ernie Andrews is correct about the European scene....the BBC cant squeeze any more out of the northern scene now.
  9. I thought it wasn't bad but...why is it the same Talking Heads...could have done without Stringfellow,Norman Jay and Marc Almond. The prog totally ignored the prolific bootlegging and rapid turnover of music. What happened between 81 and the returnees?
  10. I have another US version somewhere...is it Triangle?.A white label from memory.
  11. I saw one on a sales list for £150 quid!!! Its a very poor cover. The Uk Beat scene is littered with cover versions of US Soul songs when the transition was from rand b to soul. Some odd suprises as well. Most soon moved on to pop psych or blues unless you were a good live band with a solid following..Jimmy James,Geno Washington etc. These bands were big in the suburbs and the north.
  12. The Darrell Banks London issue would be the rarest if found and verified. That C Jam Blues 45 pops up.I have one on a demo and is in a few beat collections. Its not a very good cover either.
  13. I do not see my post as lazy.He is a member. The search engine would have given him the answer in seconds.A google search would have given the answer in seconds. If this was to remain private then why the post?? This would have been a major scoop for the Guardian.I have sent a pm asking him when this find is going to he verified by an expert.I hope the holy grail has been found but until it has been verified it still remains a myth.
  14. Why would you need to come on here to ask about a question on a Darrell Banks issue. The man knows about pressing plants...he knows about freakbeat. He has the connections to be buying ex employees of pressing plants collections. It was widely reported prior to this that the UK issue was rumoured not to exist.Im sure he is in the right circles to find about this record. The record is even on 45 Cat now with no mention that nobody has corroborated its existance.Has anyone seen it?? It seems like the myth and enthusiasm is overtaking solid fact.I want to be proven wrong and I want to see the 5 page Mojo piece and the record being corroborated with John Manship and the owner (whoever that is now).
  15. Pete Im really not sure.A copy turns up out of the blue and its first reported on here.We get some amazing scans....but there is still yet no corroboration from anyone else seeing it in the flesh.Record collecting still does throw up some amazing rarities but the stories are usually accompanied by photos of the record etc.Maybe he us looking for an agent for the record scoop of the post millenium story or he may be worried about ownership.
  16. I am really suprised at The Guardian running an article on a record that nobody apart from the owner has seen.
  17. Troy Keys If I Had My Way...start sounds liket the b side to Colouredman.
  18. Ive got one.Paid 15 quid for it on a demo ...it's in my uk pop section.
  19. From that scan it looks as though it has got some damage to the left hand side...where the prongs meet. Its a shame the photo wasnt on a white background
  20. Will take cavaliers and Eddie bishop Mr blue...
  21. I don't bother with buying from.e bay but I do a lot of selling. It's a trickle though.I buy most of my soul stuff from here. You can trust most of the seller's and you don't have to wade through tons of rubbish.I'm now finding a few new record shops opening which is surprising and I'm.getting back into fairs for the Psych and beat stuff.I think the shine has rubbed off e bay for sellers...returned items, disputes, fees etc etc.
  22. Sold him a vg plus demo copy For£70
  23. I've already sold him it.Try Warren Wint.He was after one and had a good trades list as well.
