  1. I remember seeing a doc on a racist skinhead in the late 80s early 90s and he said he used to be into northern soul. There's also a lad with a blood and honour t shirt on one of those RSG videos i posted up...he's on there coming through the doors.Bizarre.
  2. Vg and above original copy please.Pm me
  3. Okeh original issue or demo wanted to buy vg and above condition.Immediate paypal.PM Me
  4. The top teapot dancer was Johnny Timlin...this is from the eighties/nineties though although I wouldn't be suprised if that was the inspiration as the other character who dies in the car crash was a a complete rip off of Sean Adams...complete with van.
  5. Yep a ballpark year would be good....I do remember when I got this tape these were current records...some good oldies mixed in as well. The Lewis sisters always cracked me up.
  6. Another old tape upload of 90's biggies. Can anyone narrow this down to a year. https://www.mixcloud.com/kevin-johansen/northern-soul-90s-biggie-name-that-tune-3/
  7. Here's the second tape. This has got an inlay card with prices next to it........but it's virtually unreadable. Would love to know who did this one.I'm sure it's very early 90s https://www.mixcloud.com/kevin-johansen/northern-soul-name-that-tune-2-compilation/
  8. Out and about at the moment.I will collate the tracklisting.I have found the priced sales tape.It will be harder than this one I think.
  9. That's the one doing my head in and I wouldn't mind a copy.
  10. Thanks everyone.I have a few more of these I'm going to transfer.I do miss people doing tapes.I have a few priced sales tapes somewhere with ficticious titles so you couldn't hunt the records down cheaper.Proper skullduggery.
  11. Just transferred this from an old tape.....there is no tracklist though. Can anyone name the tunes.I can't even remember who I got it frrom.
  12. Look through the back page of Echoes....yes one or 2 pages and that was what was on in the Uk.
  13. The only things that i can remember in the eighties and nineties were the thing on Morecambe with John Vincent,Whistle Test Blackburn,Keb Darge dancing to Sweet Darling advertising clothing,Chasing Rainbows Phil Dick and the Danny Behr piece about a butchers son liking his dads music. Not much for 20 years. All were great apart from Dani Behr's and were reflective of the scene then as it was. Oh and the piece on Stafford.
  14. I always thought the good stuff was mid tempo northern.
  15. VG Plus and above original copy wanted.PM me
  16. Just uploaded this old tape to youtube
  17. VG or above copy wanted.PM Me
  18. A lot of the instrumentals were lifted from.easy listening lp's which were made for the American ma and pa to try and get down with the kids.Lord Sitar Black is Black and Paint It Black were from The Folkswingers lp.The Camel's Strings It's Too Late was another. Can't remember the lp and The Total Eclipse lp brought us 6 o'clock or Supertime.
  19. I think it was a great idea.Gave you a flavour of what was being played.I revived it for one of my flyers about 4 years ago and Dave Evison said he had not seen it since the early eighties. The standard of flyers today is shocking,Scooters and targets with owls.Photoshop has a lot to answer for.I even saw an advert for a £30 soul weekender at Scarborough with no deejays advertised. What is that about?.
  20. Has he still got his synthesiser and did he play it on the Sandy Golden 45?
  21. All of my UK is filed by label order in company sleeves with plastic cover. To find something it's the Record Collector book and then serial number.Reggae is the same as most is British.Albums in genre order but in a mess at the moment.Us Soul is all over the place!
  22. Great list of titles but I'm only really interested in anything with unreleased stuff. Will be buying the Georgie Fame ep for Hot Shot.Is the Small Faces concept lp just a straight reissue of Ogdens?
  23. With a thread on The Contemplations and the excellent Alone With No Love got me thinking that the record has some jazz flute element to it.Off the top of my head there are the obvious tracks with Jazzy elements Philly Dog by Herbie Mann,The Bottle,Karmello Brooks, Sonny Cravers I'm No Fool.I can always remember Gilles Peterson playing Elsie Mae and thinking this is mid tempo northern. Can anyone recommend any more.
  24. Sorry I must be getting confused with Andy Dyson.Hamburg is a great weekend but it is not a northern soul weekend. There seems to be a big divide with that scene on one side and the northern soul oldies scene which gives no time for the hundreds of old style underplayed oldies. What sort of stuff gets played at Longton?
  25. Apologies.I think the thread went back to 2010 or 2011.There were a lot of podcasts and I'm guessing it was Karl Heards.
