  1. That's what is so good about the Northern scene - It's constantly evolving and renewing itself. We'll all be doing this in the old folks homes in twenty years time (assuming we're still alive)
  2. Barbara McNair - You're gonna love my baby. This record has always been a great one to clap with, it gives the low-level beat a bit more 'bite'. I think hand-clapping is great, it really adds to the atmosphere. It doesn't seem to be quite as prevalent these days though, maybe because it hurts more after a while as you get older.
  3. Pete, I've just played my copy, I stand corrected and humbly apologise for the misleading information I posted earlier.
  4. In my opinion, it was such a short and fast edited item, that anyone who saw that film who didn't know what Northern Soul is/was, still wouldn't be any the wiser. Oh yes, I still meet fully grown adults that have never heard of Northern Soul.
  5. The sound quality on the boots was quite poor and if I remember correctly, they were all pressed slightly 'off-centre' too. The seller must have known that it was a boot.
  6. Don't worry - I'm well into the 100's on the CDs!
  7. The sound quality was always top notch and the sleeve notes were insightful and witty - the same is true today via their CDs. In fact I buy most of those too, old habits die hard.
  8. That's interesting, I assumed that the poster would have been with all the purple copies. I agree, Kent tracks often were the place I first heard some great records.
  9. Thanks Ady, I had no idea that Kent 002 came out on yellow vinyl, I obviously didn't get out and buy it quick enough. They were great LPs, by the time they reached Kent 006, I placed a 'Standing Order' at my local record shop - 'Sounds Around' in Kidderminster.
  10. Hi all, I was an avid buyer of Kent LPs in the 1980s and have about 80 of them. I was playing through some them over the weekend and wondered if anyone could answer the following questions? How many of the first LP 'For Dancers Only' were pressed on red vinyl? How many of 'KENT 50' were pressed on purple vinyl and came with the poster? I won't ask which ones are considered to be the best, because that's probably been asked a hundred times before. Thanks in advance, Andy
  11. Stylus included, they are belt driven, but that is to be expected I suppose. I think I'm correct in saying that Technics Direct Drive SL 1210 turntables go from Zero to 45rpm in half a revolution, as do most other DD turntables I guess. When it comes to belt driven turntables, I assume that it takes a little longer. Of course, the Technics, being in a different league in build quality, will also sound far superior - but for £65, I'm happy to let my kids play around with them, though not in conjunction with my Northern Soul records...
  12. Thanks for the link, I've just bought one. Not bad for £65
  13. I'm beginning to wish I hadn't started this, I never imagined for one moment that it would turn into an opportunity for people to have a go at Russ Winstanley.
  14. Blimey, he sold one! Come on guys - Which one of you was it?
  15. Wear it with pride, knowing that you were there.... to the bitter end. https://cgi.ebay.co.uk/Casino-Gaming-Patch-Wigan-Casino-13-Soulful-Years-/270645778990?pt=UK_Collectables_Badges_Patches_MJ&hash=item3f03beda2e The last four years were a total blur to me though........

  18. "If you're clearly drunk and have a request, come behind the decks with your foaming pint and stand over my record box while I dig it out for you" I guess most DJs have experienced this scenario
  19. Clearly someone agrees with you - it's now sold.
  20. Donny Gerrard - He's always somewhere around Greedy Records - Issued in 1976 Condition: Mint £10 + £1 postage in the UK PayPal as a gift accepted Please PM me if interested
  21. I buy far more records than I ever sell, I don't expect sellers to clean records before they sell them - A dusty/dirty record can still be considered mint, only permanent marks or damage affects the condition of a record. All my records get cleaned (carefully) as soon as I get them - It's part of the experience, I enjoy it!
  22. Linda Jones - Just can't live my life The Chandlers - Your love makes me lonely - That long break in the middle always leaves me wondering what to do
  23. Please PM me if interested. Gene Stridel - Let Her Go/One more fool and one more broken heart on Yellow Verve DJ copy Condition EX (Honestly Graded) Clean labels - No X's or writing Has a warp but it plays perfectly Only £24 Including Recorded Delivery in the UK (PayPal accepted as a gift) Overseas shipping is £3 extra Thanks for looking
