  1. Last ones from me this year, so I'll wish you all a happy and Soulful 2025 and look forward to some more great photos From my post Christmas mountain walk on Saturday where we were hoping for some good inversions but got a bit atmospheric instead View coming off Mynydd Mawr A feint path we were following by the waterfalls Welsh Highland Steam Train Looking towards the Snowdon Massif
  2. Back in Snowdonia earlier this week and I know they had a lot of rain last week, but still shocked to see a Great white shark near to "Lake Australia"(llyn bochlwyd) while walking in the Glyderau Mountains
  3. Another couple of days in Snowdonia and another reflection on Llyn Gwynant, a bit clearer this time as there was no mist. Also a friendly Robin around Llyn Elsi
  4. Seems to me that it's another league now, just like the europa league. And fans and clubs were against the "super league". Clubs complain of to many games and want a winter break so they can get in more exotic friendlies. Fans want to see their teams play but sometimes it's just too much, especially if you lose more than you win
  5. Thanks Peter. Conditions help, especially with a phone camera. All good thanks, hope you're good too
  6. Just had a couple of days in Snowdonia where the warm weather was spot on and the reflections were pretty good. Yr Wyddfa/Snowdon across Llynnau Mymbyr x2 Llyn Padarn x2 A Misty Llyn Gwynant x2
  7. A couple of the Highlands Coos near where we are staying
  8. Up in the Scottish Highlands at the moment. Winters coming
  9. Got a small viewing in a field out in Dunham Massey around 8pm before they cam back around 10pm in the back garden and outside our house in a street filled with led lights and near the m60 motorway, amazing with the naked eye
  10. Anytime after about 8pm when it gets very dark, although you could have a long and cold wait. Depends on location, any clouds knocking about, artificial lights from towns, street lights etc. And yes, in most cases cameras will pick it up but with the right conditions, we may get lucky.
  11. Just had a red alert for tonight. It'll probably cloud over later, you watch
  12. Nice colourful Hainan airline taking off on a nice sunny Saturday from Manchester followed by a TUI Dreamliner
  13. Autumn is coming with the arrival of Fred, the house spider, Mary the garden spider and some fellas having a well deserved rest at Dunham Park
  14. 2 for the price of 1 round here on Thursday
  15. Yes we have had then breeding in the trees most years along with squirrels. Like a lot of folk, we fed the birds bread and the like and also feeders, but the pigeons, squirrels and the occasional rat has put a stop to that. We still get the resident Robin and a few others passing through but nothing like years ago. A definite change going on
  16. We know about the dwindling of birds, from the small song birds, to the thrushes, blackbirds, swifts, swallow etc but what seems to be on the rise is the number of pigeons flying around. On any one day I must see at least 100, wether and in pairs or a small flock of 15 or so all just flying in all directions. Wether I'm sat at home, in the garden, walking or driving about. Pigeons seem to be everywhere. Have the predators gone and the farmers stopped shooting them
  17. A big car park right outside the entrance plus other spaces in the uni grounds. Unless it's all changed since January
  18. Looking forward to this. Always enjoyed Keele for many a year
  19. Had a few days in wet and windy Wales earlier this week. Not great photos as such but fun ones. The wife and granddaughter "clicking" on Barmouth beach And a couple of the steam engine's at Bala railway at Llanuwchllyn Station
  20. In Wales for a few days/nights at the moment near Bala. Plenty of wild weather to kill off all life, never mind wildlife
  21. Wildlife is very sparse around these parts, Sale nr Manchester, and the surrounding areas. I think that's why the photo thread is slow, certainly lacking in wildlife pics. Was in Scotland earlier this year and there's certainly a lot more windscreen splats than England, that's for sure. Midges are of course doing very well. Had to take the bird feeders in as a rat had decided it liked it more than the birds! No butterflies, wasps, very few bees, birds are thin on the ground and even the squirrels are very quiet this year. Walks along the rivers, canals and even the mountains are very quiet re wildlife. A lot of dragonflies though like others have said. Certainly noticeable, the climate, human race , has a lot to answer for.
  22. I got mine from Jones Boot Makers Manchester quite a few years back and still going strong
  23. Very sad to hear this news. Some great memories of listening and dancing to the rare sounds that Carl played down in the basement of the Greatstone Hotel in Stretford in the late 90's early 00's where he was a resident. R.I.P & Condolences to Maria and all his family A tape of some of Carl's tunes from the Greatstone https://m.mixcloud.com/andy-prolze/the-greatstone-hotel-1999/
  24. Reflections on Lake Vyrnwy and the dam
  25. Waterfalls. Dolgoch Falls next to the Talyllyn railway near Tywyn Wales Minffordd Gorge Waterfalls and foxglove on the Minffordd Path upto Cader Idris
