  1. Sir, Of course the Black community in the US and elsewhere have suffered abuse, degradation, and wide spread ignorance, and lack of appreciation of its musical importance, way beyond the relatively narrow field of 'northern soul music' or even 'soul music', but get a grip, and read what initial exclamation started this ridiculous thread, and start your own thread on this wider, and undoubtedly more important subject that concerns you. dean
  2. There is no such thing as 'a northern soul artist' but there artists who have made records appreciated by the northern soul sub culture. dean

  10. Ian, It had a sleeve, Expansion Manchester so John would have sent it up from the Bowl, about 88/89 ish, and I never had marbles only conkers. dean
  11. Steve my old chapati, I can take a pounding: though I'm not sure how friendly it is. There is no point in me providing further input as I've already stated what I remember. Like a bad crime witness, additions may not be true: I don't think it was raining and I think John priced it at £25 but does that help? The color of my socks that day remains a deeper mystery. I wish, as previously stated, I'd never said anything but the ONLY reason I remember the LP is because I missed a trick not selling it to myself. So what other album would have caused that? It was in my sight for half an hour so sorry I can't really help
  12. Gosh Mr. Plumb have a sit down, We're talking nearly thirty years ago and the only reason I remember is because I regretted not buying it myself. If I recall I put it up on the wall and I don't think it was there for more than an hour. No I don't remember who got it. Yes Ivor, proper sleeve and, I think, green Truth labels not white. As I say, only remember it as a missed opportunity...Perhaps I shouldn't have said anything. dean
  13. Gordon: always a delicious slice of soulful fun A great loss to the world. dean
  14. Had a sleeve Ivor...You do recall who I Worked for then?
  15. Yes even in my decrepit old age [nearly thirty years ago] I can tell the difference between a 45 and an LP. I only remember the thing because of ...well you would?
  16. I sentiment that could be applied to an awful lot of records talked about on Soul Source! Gents both the Demon and Soul Brother reissues are described as...reissues not 'previously unreleased' material. I have no reason to fabricate this information: its not like I've got one to sell! dean
  17. Actually it does...snuck out in the mad rush of releases as Stax imploded. I have held one in my hands in Expansions back in the eighties [and I'm not mistaking it for the reissue-sold 100's of those] and foolishly sold it to someone other than me. dean
  18. Transferred £100 to my bank, and instead of going straight away as usual, I got a 'payment pending 3-5 days' message. So I phone them up, 0800 number of course, and a nice man said he'd cancel the transfer and then asked me to do the transaction again. All hunk dory...Except 50p went missing. Mmmmm. If paypal took 50p from everybody moving cash today that would add up to quite a tidy sum. Happen to anyone else? dean
  19. How about the 70's original on Truth?
