    The Q

Danny from Swindon way, who's second name I cant remember now, bought the second press back from the US in small quantity in the late 8ts early 9ts. I cant remember the exact details now Joe, but the original press was withdrawn cos the credits wernt right, the second/repress had amended credits & the label colour was a very slightly different shade. Remember it well, cos on the same trip he found a Cairos in a book shop, in the book, sleeveless. but in good nick I beleive ! ............I've hammered on about this numerous times, but no one can seem to remember the full details & others beleive it to be a myth I'm sure...........but its true I tell ya !!!. Danny, if your lurking about, pse put us out of our misery. Russ
  2. I dont care that much, but surely until the 'other' copies are verified its just speculation. Russ
  3. Las Vegas Connection is a bargain IMO & great too..........someone BUY it. Russ

...........Nik might be referring to the first press with slightly different credits & slightly different shade of label colour.........but then you knew that didnt you cheeky . Russ
  5. Oh well........i didnt start until 3 years later......didnt hear this until at least the 8ts.......those pesky Mecca DJ's !, however, was this a one spin wonder back then ?, as i cant imagine it being a very in vogue kinda sound then ?......some would even have difficulty with it now . Russ
  6. Maybe its a Southern thing mate...........? Russ
  7. I think Andy Rix was mainly responsible for giving this some plays, altho wouldnt wanna swear to that & certainly wasnt exclusive to him........love it to bits. Russ
  8. There was one for sale at Soul Essence last week, in a little box, as opposed to a dealer, was £250. I have loved this record for many a year, had assumed it had lost favour a little in recent times with the pace raising generally, but no doubt a class tune IMO. Russ
  9. The 100 Club is the best by far......I feel I know every lump, bump & pot hole........the floor can be the best in the world, but if the music dont move ya, it might aswell be a car park !. Russ
  10. The red issue is the harder first release. There is also another version of the song on the LP altho not as good IMO. Hope this helps. Russ
  11. Saw for £250 this weekend. Russ
  12. Allegedly one of the major iconic NYC producers fron the 7ts onwards, will regularly press up in demand 12's........ ........as they either owned the labels or produced the tracks, you could argue they have a right to do this, however if they no longer own the rights.........?. This is pretty much common knowledge & almost a joke within collecting circles of this genre. There are boots/reissues out there of almost every collectable genre & format, we are pretty clued up on the vintage soul stuff, but as we spread our wings its easy to get caught out. Russ
  13. It should be down to the promoters to ensure any music policy/ovo is upheld........ Russ
  14. Both, but travel mostly. Russ
  15. Whilst not a great lover of instrumentals (altho' there are a few exceptions) the instro of this is bangin'.....I played it out at the Dome many moons ago to critical aclaim....... Russ
  16. I personally mean both, but the DJ has to have some common sense as to how the set is 'mixed' ( )......you wouldnt go from the Mello Souls to Joey Negro et al in one foul swoop...........but there are ways & means & it shouldnt be a crusade either.......tunes have to be soulful & relative to fit, its that X factor thing again. Its just about playing good danceable soul records regardless of era or genre. Russ
  17. Not this one my friend ........I'll be there till the last record usually, whether it be NS or MS. Russ
  18. Does the same go for the the punters who didnt go in the better. oops sorry 'other' room & stayed in the main room ( ). Horses for courses. Russ
  19. DJ's will play an upfront 6ts tune, so why not play a suitable/appropriate new release or Modern tune.......just like it used to be, no bottle methinks , play everything thats any good together in one room...........the dancers will let you know what they like........... Russ
  20. Its all NS if it gets played & danced to, why do we have to pick everything to bits, as said previously in my little world in the late seventies, it was all played in the same set without differentiating & I would dance to most records, I thought of it all as NS..............wish it was like that now, the best soul records all played in one venue, one room & you just all get on with it, if you dont like a record dont dance............ Where's Pete............? Russ
  21. I,ve been looking for a vulture circling emoticon smiley thing, but cant find one............squarkkkkkkkkkkkkk !!! Russ
  22. Stop chatting & get the list up ........hope alls as well as it can be my friend........have you got my temps acetate going on that list BTW Russ
  23. Can I ask what happened with this promotion & why did it go belly up, last thing I read it was all systems go !!!. Russ
  24. Sheryl Swope _ Lets get this show on the road..........is hoofin' IMO Val, I've been playing this off & on for about 15 years or so & could do with a little extra support !!!. https://www.raresoulman.co.uk/searchartist....ERYL&Format My favourite SW track by a country mile. Russ
  25. Ironically..........most of these if played at WC in this format, probably would have been huge. Russ
