Was at Sussex Soul Club last night were this was played from the SEX 12'. Having only ever heard the Tabu 45 before (knowingly) wondered what the SEX 12' was all about, was it a reissue with a different mix/extended mix or what ?, any info would be much appreciated.........could some kind person also post both versions in refo soul please........BTW loved the 12' version. Was listening to the 6ts Anniversary Singles comp CD last night while driving to Sussex Soul Club, hadnt played it for a while & it blew mi head off......what a fantastic comp & tribute to the Legendary Club. Whats your fave comp from last year ?. Russ

The Scott Three - Running Wild - March........had plays the latter half of last year by Steve G, but a couple more copies have surfaced ( ) which will hopefully give it greater exposure in 2010. Holidays - Cover Up..........Blinding proppa Northern Soul. Relatives.........as Brett quite rightly says one of the best releases of last year, had plays, but now uncovered etc will reach epic proportions in 2010, certainly deserves to be huge............. Just listened to the sound file, havnt listened to this for a few months...........OMG the hairs on the back of the neck just went up immediately........just phenominal vocals & orchestration WOW. Russ

It just goes to show you Mike, 15 years ago at Abshott & Newbury & other South Coast events I couldnt leave the house with out it, I'm sure I would have heard it first at the 100 Club & my Pye copy came from Mick Smith in the record bar at the 100 Club...........I always tried to imagine the recording session, there is everything, including the kitchen sink, can you imagine the size of the orchestra & no doubt done in virtually one take, 'oh to have been a fly on the wall'.......I used to play this record always followed by the announcement on the mike of 'Eat your heart out Whitney'......... ..........a true powerhouse of a record, that I could never get bored of hearing. Its one of those records that make me want to weep, its that good, there's just something that strikes a chord within me & that musical 'hook' is so emotional, it kills me every time.........remember it from Wigan & have had an intense love affair ever since, the nice thing being you very rarely hear it out, so when ya do...........wooooooooooooshhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhh........... Heard some cracking tunes this year & would be impossible to name a top three, however heres a handful that I lurvveeeeeeeeeeeee....... Scott 3 - Running Wild - March Gwen McCrae - Let Me Do My Thing - Peppermint Jam Four Perfections c/up Avons - When the Boy etc....unissued Ady C 100 Club Stormer...... Also 'Cooking on Three Burners', has gotta be up there in the top 10, along with the Internationals - Beautiful Philosophy. Karl Heard has played some stunning stuff this year to great aclaim & Dave Abbott has to have a mention also, for continuing to search out & play some real stunners. The 100 Club as always has championed the unknown, lesser known & unissued, there have been some real hoofers this year, but I love the Avons. Best Cheapie award goes to THE DYNAMOS You Can Do It By Yourself DYNAMO Records Thanks to Dave Moore for reminding me just how good this is, available to any one who appreciates a good soul dance record & lets hear out more next year please. Love me Carolinas Soul..........too many to list, but many have become classics on the NS scene.........when ever i see this clip tho', whilst technically great, its missing any 'soul' or emotion, a little contrived maybe, you still cant beat a hot sweaty dance floor at a Nighter......... Russ
