  1. ..........Hi Pete, hope you are well, not dissing the guy either, the mans a GOD, but find these releases extremely safe, why would you do it anyway ???........ Russ
  2. I would suggest anyone that runs an event without security is taking a huge risk, 99.9% of the time at a Soul event you wont need them, but there may be the one time you do & I can tell you from experience if someone is injured you'll blame your self for ever........I find that if you personally brief the security on what you expect from them you'll avoid any problems. Russ
  3. Who is David Gest ? Russ
  4. Lover - The Delites Trouble - The Agents This Man in Love - The New Wanderers Sad Girl - Carol Anderson Same Thing - Masquaders Mr Soul - What Ever Happened.......... etc............................. A living LEGEND who's contribution to Rare Soul is unquestionable....................so one question WTF re - issue THE EPITOME OF SOUND "You don't love me" c/w "Where were you" RUBY ANDREWS "Just loving you" MEL BRITT "She'll come running back" A man of RS standing & knowledge not to mention his connections, could rival Kent in the fantastic releases department with his new label, 3 battered oldies that are all available else where, very, very disappointed indeed, it could have been soooooooooooooooo much better, please try harder & dig deeper, RS must know/have some amazing unissued material or at least extremely under exposed that we would all be going mental to owjn if reissued, so why these three has beens . Russ
  5. Its an ok dance record which I would probably dance to & enjoy.......... Russ
  6. Can anyone tell me what an original copy of this would cost & if anyone has one for sale pse. Russ
  7. Brilliant Chris............. Russ
  8. I know this might be a really unpopular thing to say & I really dont mean to be negative, cos its great to get this kinda thing out there legally, but cant we get a while of it being a relatively exclusive Nighter play before it becomes available please. Whilst its great to be able to buy stuff legally, the 'shine' really does go off them as 'top' plays once they are readily available. Sorry, but just tryin' to be honest............... Russ
  9. I'll be honest Len, the inspiration actually came initially from seeing your record room & I have hankered after a room similar since, the nice thing with your room being, its a space were you & mates can chill & really enjoy the experience, I particularly want a glass coffee table too .........its important for me to not only have storeage, but to have a space to listen & enjoy too. Hope you & Nina are well. Russ x
  10. Anyone else wanna add to this pse ?. Russ
  11. Thanks Steve, I could spare a testicle at my age if anyone wants to pass a copy on lol Russ
  12. Wanda Mcdaniel and the Ultimate Choice - Gangster Boy - (AppleRay) Dave the Dentist, Jordi & Butch all have copies (?) & its had intermittent plays over the years, can anyone offer any more info on this disc & maybe a soundfile........if any ones selling let me know. Russ
  13. Thanks to everyone for all your replys, lovin' the IKEA shelves........ Missed you n Justin Sat @ VVV Theresa, I let Jenny out of the cupboard too lol, Best Russ
  14. Brilliant - thank you for your reply, I'm gonna be on the ground floor, my wife thinks we've we're going to have a dining room .........just waiting for the right moment to let her know the good news about the record room, I know she will be over the moon , but as we're having a large conservatory build, that'll be a dining room too, so I'm sure she'll come around to my way of thinking:yes: , especially as she will no longer have to compromise her TV schedule due to my record playing activities..............if I had my way I'd bin the TV & the whole lounge would be the record room lol !. Thank you for posting on this. Best Russ
  15. Thank you for all the replies & advise & pics so far, the Deconomix gear looks amazing, I cant access the area for the prices tho'......gonna be at least the New Year before I can get started on the project, but lots offood forthought so far. Russ
  16. Well looks like we'll be moving house soon & I may finally get the Record Room I've been after, not just a vinyl storeage space which I have now, but a proper room. This will be a space for not only storeage, but for myself & friends to lounge & listen to records. Whilst it wont be huge, I would like decks, contemporary furniture, memoreabilia, reference books etc, etc..........it will also mean I can enjoy my records at any time without disturbing the rest of the Vickers clan !!!...........I have loads of ideas. although a limited budget to work with, anyhoo got me to thinking what others may have done with thier record rooms & it might also give me some inspiration as well as being very interesting........ So get posting those pics of your record rooms & lets see if I can gain some ideas......... MODS if I have posted in the wrong area please move as you see fit thx Best Russ
  17. If more than one copy surfaces I will take the spare.....have the CD but need the vinyl, sorry to jump your thread Claire, just reminded me how good this is . Best Russ
  18. Thats really funny Karen as I was just reading this thinking tw*t & there your post was ....I'm happy to pay what ever you think sweet.....be home soon anyways......so I'll be in touch. Russ
  19. Loved this disc from the moment I heard it booming out at the Casino.........love the way it stomps in the break..........one of those records that you can really appreciate at home for its vocal & musical qualities, but which also takes on a completely different & tougher persona when heard through a massive system & your right in the groove, huge dancer, remember running to the floor for this every time..............not heard it played out in years & wonder how it would sound these days at a nighter & what the dancefloor reaction would be............not a forgotten record by any means, but one I have never heard played at a Nighter venue for many years & I wonder if it was played again at the right place, at the right time, by the right DJ ( ) if it would find favour once again on the dancefloors............I reckon it would be a contender..........regardless wonderful record. Russ
  20. Controversial but the 100 has probably been more influencial in the last 20 years, for people of my age it set the standards in the 8ts.
  21. Thanks guys.........I need the 'boingless' copy . Russ
  22. Hi Ivor Hope your well - remind me mate, is the Curtis 45 the mix without the sound effects ? Russ
  23. T'other side great too Tim. Russ
  24. To try & help with the initial question Keb Darges Deep Funk Comps might be a good place to start, altho not all tracks could be called Funky Northern, also try some of Wrighty's Comps too.......failing that you'll need a friendly collector/DJ type to knock you something up, or get ya self out to one of the more 'Up Front' Nighters, most DJ's are playing at least a few tunes that might be classed as FN. A whole set of this kinda thing,is too full on for me personally, although I love the sound & welcome the addition of this hard hitting, gritty soul mixed in sensibly with everything else. Russ
  25. Should hope so, slow coach - first played at the Mecca in the 7ts ..........hope your well, that nice Mr Abott has some fantastic Funky Northern & does the best CD's too......... Best Russ
