  1. Pretty sure this was a copy of the master tape, in fact I think there were two tapes, so strictly speaking whoever bought this doesnt automatically gain the rights to legally release it, unless they go through the usual channels. Best Russ
  2. Just when you think all the 'great' traditional NS Dancers may have been found ............this turns up & alongside other recent discoveries like The Royal Imperials & some of the funky thangs gaining needle time & exceptance on dancefloors it gladdens my heart to think that after all these years folk are still digging for the tunes & the dancers are still dancing to em..........this is what a propper NS scene should be about................ . Anyhoo wheres my copy then.........anyone ??? Russ
  3. Still hoping someone might take pity on me.......... Best Russ

  6. I used to go to both Bretby & Wilton & enjoyed both, I was also very flattered to have DJ'd at both, but as I was travelling from the South, Bretby would be the easier option sometimes, especially as this was before I could drive. The Modern & Crossover Rooms were exceptional, CK did play some thrashed oldies in the Main Room sometimes, but this was more than made up for by the likes of Dave Thorley & others. There were definitly records which were played at Bretby Nighters as newies, I'm thinking unissued Arthur Prysock for starters, which was a f*cking anthem...........think Bad Weather was Bretby & maybe the unissued Carol Anderson & a great resuscitated oldie Willie & the Mighty Magnificents - Check It Baby.........etc Best Russ
  7. I''ll take Powerhouse if its still available pse. Best Russ
  8. As far as I remember the Allnighters certainly, initially were promoted by Dave Thorley & Chris King, some great records played there, both when it was a Soul Night (Chris Anderton) & an Allnighter, the Modern & Crossover Rooms were fantastic, Crossover Room closed in the end, but I had many a great night DJing in there. Best Russ
  9. Some stunning tunes posted, but one disc that will definitley without a shadow of a doubt reach a wider audience this year & will become a stone cold Northern Soul classic is the magnificent SIR JOE a truly monstrous record - Mr Thorley - take a bow - its people like Dave (& others) who NEVER stop diggin' that we can thank for us still hearing newly discovered quality NS on our dance floors, thank the lord !!! If Sir Joe doesnt reach legendary proportions this year my cocks a kipper........... Russ
  10. Thx to everyone that has posted with information, off to bed now as its stupid 'o' clock here............I'll answer all the offer posts in the morning . Russ

  14. Cheers mate - Just shaking the tree..........I'm having to use 'wants' more than I would like these days, feel lazy, but I cant really do much diggin' out here in Iraq............poo internet connection, very limited phone connection etc, etc...........unless any one knows of an elusive Arabic copy of course lol. See ya soon mate Russ

PM with details pse. Many thx Russ
  16. I didnt want to comment when it was just in the sales thread, but this is absolutely appalling & how anyone could even contemplate passing it off as NS is being me.........OMG its beyond the pale, if its come to this I'll get me coat & 4k is just absolute piss taking of the highest order, anyone who paid 4k for this must be out of thier mind, I cant even comprehend anyone on this scene even wanting to give it room on the shelves, let alone in a play box . Russ
  17. An amazing record IMHO & one of my all time faves, should be heard out more.........proper NS. Russ
  18. Val/John.............. To be honest thats what I have been doin for all these years, but got to thinkin' about label collectors, I aint gonna own all the 'odd' records that I would like ever, so maybe I'm missing summat & might get 'the' buzz from completing label runs instead, like I mentioned before, dont think I have the discipline to be honest.......I'm always searching for 'my' next big thing & whilst I hopefully find some damn good records along the way, its a never ending search. Once you get em, it all starts again..........its an illness & its never ending . Russ
  19. Thank you everyone for all of your replies, a lot of food for thought, I just hope I have the discipline not to go off at too many tangents . I think Dave's suggestion of maybe starting with a less daunting label initially is good advise. Thanks everyone. Russ
  20. Wally Coco is an ALLNIGHTER record.............like many tunes on our scene, listening at home, can just highlight any imperfections, in the cold light of day through ya MP3 player it sounds a bit weak & not the most soulful of vocals.................but at 4am in the morning, sweatin' in the pitch black with a few hundred other like minded souls, this nasty fcker takes on a whole new identity altogether, screaming outta the bins of a huge system & pinning ya to the back wall........it stomps like a mutha to the beat of your heart & it never lets up..................I think we used to call it Northern Soul.............as Mr Fortnum used to say 'Shootin' Thu'........ WHoOoOoOoOsssshhhhh !!! Russ
  21. Thank you Tony, hope you are well buddy. Happy New Year. Best Russ
