  1. Your not that little......lol Russ
  2. I know the guy buys & plays boots, its just a feeble attempt at a wind up to create the smoke n mirrors, zzzzzzzzz its hilarious, just passing my Saturday night in Baghdad winding these clowns up...........cos if I wasnt in Baghdad I'd be on my way to a Nighter to do it, not gob off about it. Russ
  3. What has that got to do with records or soul music ? Russ
  4. Whats a chin stroker ?. Russ
  5. If you dont want people to believe what you post, why post ?.......oh, well two can play that game & you bit like a good un LOL. Reel the boot players in.......its sooo easy. Russ
  6. You chill, how long have you been waiting to get that in........deep breaths mate, let it all out. Best Russ
  7. You play boots & pressings cos you have no integrity but need an excuse.........anyone would prefer to play off the original vinyl/format if they could find em, afford em (in some cases)or could be arsed to do some serious crate digging & research.....you see, its simple, dont av em dont DJ, just wannabes who cant step up to the plate, so have created this weird world were this sh*t is ok & anyone who doesnt agree is ridiculed or villanised....... I repeat, the debate should not have to take place, its down to the boot players trying to justify themselves, I'm the worst for it, but really these people should be ignored when posting there ridiculous comments....... Best Russ
  8. All this business about what is considered to be an original or a legitimate play is just a red herring, anyone who DJ's knows the criteria inside out, if ya dont, then you shouldnt be DJing. Same goes for promoters. Its something that shouldnt have to be debated, you just know.....unfortunately extremists within both camps have made it an issue to some. Russ
  9. Lew still has stock...... Russ
  10. Until he was advised against it . Russ
  11. Just another bit of info on this, I first heard this from a great tape, well before it was widely known (unknown ?) from the LEG - END 'Ion the Greek', what a man & responsible for many a great tune, a great NS character, who I still see very occasionally, but is sorely missed by the scene methinks, we need more people like this on the scene, true soulful, passionate innovators.......... Best Russ
  12. Its only a guess Chalky based on some information I was given at the time, which of course could have been a red herring anyway. Best Russ
  13. Roy Smith was the main man behind the Delphi label Tony. In the 1960s he produced, arranged and played keyboards with the Georgia Prophets of "I Got The Fever" fame. He WAS white, but his voice was great IMHO. Best Russ
  14. Sorry John, I think I have confused the issue, I agree with everything you have said, but I'm sure there was ANOTHER dealer who had found the drummer too & who would get copies occasionally & well before Julian started selling em - with regards to the amount, I agree with you there also, my guess, as I mentioned earlier, was that it was a repress done years ago , as opposed to being done more recently, just a guess tho. I cant get any more info from the other dealer tho, as initially I dont think they were aware of the repress & sold these in good faith, therefore wouldnt want to tarnish thier reputation. Hope I have put this a little clearer. Best Russ
  15. They were, but I dont think they were aware of each other initially. Russ
  16. He wasnt really feeding was he.......he f*ckin flooded the market........however, there was another US dealer who actually had been feeding these out for a while before Lil Peddler, but it is my opinion he didnt know they were represses, he just thought he had stumbled on the old stock from a band member & was 'managing' the sales. Best Russ
  17. Carl have a listen to Ian's Mastercuts show first track particularly.....has a similar feel.......its in the audio section. Russ
  18. Disco.........& I mean that in the best way. Would prefer a good soulful vocal on top personally & a 12 inch mix with a seven inch or radio edit on the reverse.....if you did a 12 you could have the instrumental & radio edit on the flip. Best Russ
  19. Just went on Youtube to have a blast of this, as I havent played or heard it for a while........its really a brilliant slice of Carolinas Northern Soul.........dont do it Paul . Best Russ
  20. Done from the original stampers by a band member I believe. Has anyone ever compared the 2 together label wise, cos & I know this sounds a bit weird, but I cant work out if my label is shiny or or matt.....even matt labels can have a bit of a sheen sometimes...... Also, if memory serves me right (?) wernt they found in the bottom of the guys wardrobe or summat, so I always wondered if they were a rerun done not long after the original press, as opposed to being repressed more recently for the NS market......anyone ???. Best Russ
  21. Fantastic thread & what a breath of fresh air, what SS is all about IMHO. Thanks everyone Best Russ
  22. This is a f*ckin blinding record IMHO I have played it out a few times over the years, but whilst most appreciate it, its still well under the radar & I reckon this would rock any Allnighter to its foundations......sounds even better booming outta a big ol system too...... Best Russ
  23. Yes I do mate, only messin with ya Best Russ
  24. Oh dear, we're all a bit grumpy today arnt we, we could always go to the car boot & buy a load of failed British 6ts pop & call it Northern Soul.....whoops we already did that . I traded a load of Soul Pack stuff back to Rich Rosen years ago, he welched on a deal & refused to send my paid for records unless I sent him some sweet n deep type stuff, flanned a lot of poo in that lot too........ Russ
  25. If the venue has a CD player thats the best option, but alas many dont. Best Russ
