  1. If I find another Sir Guy I will PM you. As I live in the Tidewater area now might get a chance on one. Best Russ
  2. Great CD as was the first one, still available for sale both BTW. regents - what cha gonna do Brill sound IMO covered up by Saus years ago £300 (?) sir guy - my sweet baby Another great toon, other side is good too, got one earlier this year in Florida, strange as I live were this was recorded, but had to travel south to get a copy...........released on DPG,2 different issues, one is Atco distributed and a little easier than the local copy. Cant see this costing too much, around the £25 tops at a guess, cheaper from the US, if you can find one. Marc F was spinning the other side of this earlier in the year, as do I, Funky Virginia, dont let the title put you off as this is good IMO. barbara stant - my mind holds on to yesterday Top toon, £200 ish bernard smith - never gonna let you go Not sure on price of this these days, but love the other side too. wilson williams - aint that loving you ???????????????????????????? sheepherders - if you ever need me Brilliant chooooooooooon, got my copy earlier this year & paid big bucks even in the US, difficult to put a price on really, but these are extremely rare IMO, others may know better, Andy Killick was playing this in his sets earlier in the year............. who the hell was Bubba Bailey BTW ???????. I reckon £500 + on this & even more if the right DJ got behind it & spread the word. Hope this helps Russ
  3. Mmmmmmmmmmm what the fcuk is going on, I would rather drip sulphuric acid down my japs eye all week end than attend some soul in basket POOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOH like this, each to their own & all that, & I might be forty plus, but I aint past it yet, wasnt the NS scene once a little bit waaay a little bit woah, Jesus Christ I'm embarrassed to be associated with this Dinner Dance, cabaret crap..........Id comment further but Im almost beyond speech......................pass the drugs some one please . I thought I was still part of some dodgy underground scene, playing great music that few others knew or understood, the divs we once shunned & laughed at for thier straight life style are taking over . If I am to be judged by these kinda promotions I wont bother any more.......................thank goodness that their is still a real scene out there somewhere. And you can say what you like it aint right. Russ I apologise if any one is offended by this outburst but it makes my blood boil & needed to show this.
  4. Always wondered were this ended up................a Shifty find......nice one Russ
  5. I still like it. I also like FH & have had it & played it for years..........I like Soul records, I also like NS, I also like Modern & Crossover records, I like & encourage cover ups & if a record turns out to be rare & I own it, I like that too. Its all part of that rich tapestry we call NS. Not that bothered about song writing or musicianship altho' , it helps & I applaud these qualities, some times tho' its the amateurish qualities that endear the records to me, its more about wether a record moves me, & has that certain something, cant explain it, but we all know what it means & a massive production & a classically trained horn section (does this exist ???) doesnt always do the trick. Im pleased you managed to get your FH for a good price tho', give ya self a big pat on the back. Russ
  6. I cannot disagree more, each to thier own & all that, but this is bloody marvelous............what the hell has rareity got to do with it any way, I dont care how rare or not it is, its a blinding record, full stop. Russ

  13. I cant do sound clips Im afraid, sorry Russ
  14. Kind words David, thank you, I do put a lot of effort into my sets & to think that some one such as yourself appreciates that effort, even tho' I know you might not enjoy every record is very rewarding. And I agree with your comments with the two rooms too mate. Russ
  15. Not that far of Pete, Im living in Virginia at the moment, USA . Russ
  16. The best version by far IMO is by King Edward & his BD'S on ROGA massive massive vocal & shifts like a freight train wow. Russ
  17. I know what you mean mate I was just being contrary to be honest, I enjoy lots of different kinds of soul music, Northern being my main attraction & the thing that got me into soul inthe first place, but I love most soulful dance, dont get func BTW. gOT TO GO xmAS shopping byeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeee, back late for more banter . Russ
  18. I respect you opinion Pete, but surely virtually every venue since 1969 has played a Modern record, put into the context that a Modern record is about recording techniques, ie sixties as opposed to seventies. I really am not critising any one, if you dont like a record or particular genre, fine, but I cant think of any Northern Soul event since 1969 that hasnt played a seventies record at some point. Russ
  19. Im sure you know what I mean Pete, there are definitely people out there who will argue untill they are blue in the face that they are sixties only & then theyre up to Ace Spectrum or some old Wigan or Mecca 'exceptable' seventies track. Dance to what moves ya, I dont care, but folk who give an argument about not enjoying a genre then in the next breath are showing appreciation of said genre by dancing are wrong. Russ
  20. Yes, deffo on more than one occsion. Russ
  21. When I promoted The Abshott Soul Nights there was one memorable occasion at the bar, when I had some prat one side winging there was too much Modern & another in the other ear saying there was too much Northern, from this I ascertained that I had got the mix just right . Karen, your right of course, if you dont like Modern dont attend a Modern night, but there are those people open minded enough to enjoy all genres & before any one kicks off, no the people who enjoy all genres of soul are not better than the ones who dont or vise versa, I thught I had made my self quite clear on the issue of not trying to make people enjoy something they dont. Mind you Karen I have seen you dancing your gorgeous ass off to many a Modern toon over the years . Or doesnt it count if said Modern record has now been played successfully in Northern rooms. Russ
  22. I'm reading this post back & thinking my god this bloke almost sounds like he knows what he's on about, hopefully people who have heard me DJ wont let themcat out of the bag . Russ
  23. Pete What I mean is that there are sixties & seventies records that could follow each other quite nicely with out too much disruption to the floor, if done with a modicom of common sense you could then gradually over a couple or discs move to the kinda seventies or what ever you wanna play, its common sense really.....................not just choosing 20 records & playing them no matter what...............please do not think I am telling any one what they should enjoy with regards to soul music, If you totally dislike a genre, then you are not going to persuade some one to dance or even attend places that play things that they dont enjoy, but a lot of people will enjoy most danceable soul if it is presented in a manner that makes it enjoyable by promoters & DJ'S................for example you are not going to follow the Mellow Souls with Masters at Work, but a sensible DJ could get there over the period of several records that fit together in a set. Russ
  24. I do tend to agree with you aswell Andy, I'm not saying that all Allnighters should have just one room, only that it has been done & can be done with a little thought, after all what is Northern Soul, ok classic Northern has been pidgeon holed as four to the floor mock motown, but all Northern Soul really is, is a Soul record (?) made popular at a Northern Soul Allnighter/Soul Night. Russ
