  1. I have bummed out sooooooooo much on the East Coast of the US, I thought I would see how many records I cant find on the West Coast . I am looking for stores & contacts in San Diego, LA, Santa Cruz area including San Jose, also San Francisco. I have also misplaced my contact info for Rich Rosen & Joe in Vegas, can anyone help me out with this please. Are thier any other record stores or contacts in Vegas worth checking out ???????????????. Thanks for any help...................if I can help any one out with anything while Im over there shout up. Russ
  2. I've even had a few sealed LP's from Thrift Stores, but its always a compromise. Thanks for the advise. Russ
  3. Hey Juddy Great advise mate. I'm assuming the best place to find out about Estate Sales is in the local paper ???. Pse could you elaborate on where you can get info on the sales. Thanks Russ
  4. I am trying to put together an article on the Shiptown/How Big record label out of Norfolk Virginia. I have found it incredibly difficult to get a full label listing so if any one can help I would be most grateful. Any other info on the labels or Noah Biggs would be great too. Thank you Russ
  5. Think this is it Gash Pearl Dowdell - Its All Over - (Saadia) https://www.soulclub.org/stream/Pearl_Dowel...ts_All_Over.ram Top tune IMO & £300+. Russ
  6. Chris Keith & Max are over mate, so may bring them up to Allentown too. Great crack last year......................again tho', no records for me thanks. Russ
  7. Hey Steve Im good mate, family are cool too, just getting frustrated at the amount of effort I put into the vinyl with very little reward, Im sure my last year will be fruitful tho'. I hope you are well, we'll have to have a beer when I get home next year. Best Russ
  8. Kev Sounds like a plan to me mate....................gonna get on me bike & get around the bizarres........................thanks for the advice, much appreciated. Russ
  9. Soul Sam is the man............................we all have our regrets about what we may have played in the past, but Sam has always been good for the scene in at least he pushes new sounds constantly & has the enthusiasm & passion for the scene/music that most should be thankful for. As you know Tony most of the DJ's were playing at least some dodgy pop including Dicky Searling. I appreciate that this is not meant as a knock to Sam.................................but should put the thread into context........................he's played hundreds if not thousands of fantastic soul records & his contribution to the scene has been massive musically. Now lets have a smile at his expense . Russ
  10. Hopefully Kev, I'll look forward to meeting you again mate. Russ
  11. An ad in the paper is a good shout tho buudy & something I have been considering for a while, any thoughts on this route anyone ???' Russ
  12. All good advise Dave & soooooooooooooo true, I'll have sales & hopefully $$$$$$ buddy, some good stuff last year, both private deals in the DJ Villa (still makes me smile ) & a few results at the Record Show, worth the trip for this alone & boy was there some heavey dealing going on. Hope that the SS ers will be there in force, what a week end......cant wait. Russ
  13. Thank you buddy, I enjoy the seach/chase so wont ever give in, just needed advise encouragement & enjoy listening to other peoples advise & experiences........so keep em coming . Russ
  14. I have lived in the US for nearly 2 yrs now. When I got here I could not drive to work or back without stopping at every Thrift Shop along the way. I have travelled a lot too & again, stopped at Thrift Stores along the way, much to the annoyance of my family. After hearing all the stories of Thrift Store 'finds' over the years from both Americans & Brits I thought I might at least find some interesting things....................but no, bugger all, not a bean..................like that wise old sage once said 'Russ, you are the worst record finder in NATO ????' & I think it might be true. Has anyone actually ever found a Rare Soul Record in a Thrift Store in the last decade ????. I have tracked down local artists, covered the Antique Malls, phoned the radio stations, visited the local Flea Markets, found one or two local collectors & DJ' In the hope I might get a lead. I have visited record shows & collectors fares........................& yes, you guessed again, bugger all really. In desperation, I am going public to appeal to you guys out there, where are all the records, I need advise please . Im not greedy either, if I find any I'll share em, honest. Oh & BTW when people go on about only being able to get records thru 'contacts' these days, were do you make these contacts, these contacts seem to be harder to find than a Frank Wilson in a Detroit Junk Shop . I dont expect my records handed on a plate, I like to sweat for em a bit, but this is getting ridiculous, I dont expect personal contacts that people have worked hard for, but any clues would be really helpful. Thank you. Signed frustrated. (Russ) Russ
  15. I'll have to dig it out to look mate. Was one of the anniversary singles. I will look tomorrow. Unless Adey is reading this. Russ
  16. Of course there is the sparcer 6ts single release of this, but I prefer the LP, with the strings n things. Russ
  17. Always on the bay Jordi & usually reasonable, if you contact seller might give you a better price for two. Hope this helps mate. Russ
  18. Personally Ken I dont care, dont even like the record, but its just one of those things that not many people seem to be aware of & I was just making sure Mark knew, he can then do what he likes. Maybe I have confused the situation with my choice of words ie issue, reissue, all I was doing was trying to make the difference between the two & generally speaking the first press is known as the 'original'. More than happy for you to make up your own names. All I was intending was for the information to be in the Public Domain, so buyers can make informed choices. Hope thats ok with you ,you miseable git . Russ Cheers mate Russ
  19. The originals are a very slightly different shade of label colour & there are differences in the credits. Danny Huff got these 10-12 yrs ago, maybe more. I saw the different copies together, so know this to be true, but my memory is not what it was, there was something about a band member/writer not getting mentioned on the label credits on the original press, so they were withdrawn & redone with the correct credits. Can JM, Pete S or Chalky confirm this or have I imagined the whole thing, bunch of moustachioed hairy gits anyway. BTW anyone remember Danny or seen anything of him, saw him at the 100 Club some years ago but not lately ????. Russ
  20. Beware the re-issue mate, slightly different coloured label & different credits, original withdrawn & redone as credits wernt correct on originals, Danny Huff bought the re-issues back from the US some years ago. Good luck Russ
  21. Was that the 12". Russ
  22. Doesnt state unreleased on the sleeve against this track where as it does against others ????. Anyone know for sure if this was released or not & availability.........c'mon you funky monkeeeees, bail out an old soul fan . Russ
  23. Gotta disagree this is awesome mate, cant see the problem with the arrangement............yeah there's loads going on, but it makes me wanna dance & thats all the criteria we need innit. Russ
  24. Anyone ??? Russ
