  1. I think we are talking dubs here, arnt we, single copies for named DJ as opposed to massed produced boots for public consumption ??? Russ
  2. I agree with all the above comments, other than militant action. This has always been the case on the scene & is common courtesy..............I have even credited certain DJ's with records before playing them myself, if its a current indemander, even tho' they are not on the same billing. Instead of miltant action........maybe naming & shaming is the way to go & embarrass them into submission ????!!!!????. Russ
  3. What nut job is bidding $2000.00 on ebay for this. Read the blurb & see what you think: ERNESTINE EADY: "LET'S TALK IT OVER" b/w THE KAYETTES: "MOONLIGHT IN VERMONT". 100% original 7" / 45 rpm record made in the United States - Phil-LA Of Soul #302. Has the 'Frankford/Wayne' mastering stamp in deadwax. Incredibly rare single in good condition. Visually it's only fair, yet the loud production of the cuts allows the music to just predominate over any surface noise. It is well used and has a constant surface noise, but the recording is heard over the noise so you can still enjoy it to a degree...I did... There may be a few moments of light static, but entire disc does play through without skipping on my turntable. If your turntable tends not to tolerate any record below VG, please do not bid. This 45 is being sold AS IS. I do not have soundclips of this record, but will be happy to play it for anyone via the phone to verify aural quality. Fantastic record no doubt about that..........but in this condition who in thier right mind would be bidding like this ??????????. 24 hours to go.............let the insanity continue. My flabber has been truly ghasted................comments anyone ????. Russ
  4. Anyone ?????????????. Russ

  7. I like the design with the Footballer, looks really cool......slightly biased as this is the copy I have !!!!!. Complete with lolly stick on the back . Russ

  14. I was there last summer mate & to be honest altho' there are plenty of stores, its been well picked over on a very regular basis...............there are records there Im sure, but the likes of Tommy & plenty of US guys are working very hard there constantly. I found a few things, nothing to write home about, but the info on these stores is readily available on the net/yellow pages etc. I personally would get a little outside of LA & try the flea markets & yard sales & if possible see if you can make some local contacts before you go over who may have private collections or know of people who do. Good luck. There is also a litle record collectors leaflet that comes out & covers the California are, gives details on Record Shows too, unfortunately I dont have the copy I used last year. Also you could do worst than hook up with Tommy & Mike (both SS members) they always have sales & whilst you are not gonna rob anything, they have some great stuff for sale always. Russ
  15. Well here goes from the Vickers box & I must say I have no system what so ever for filing my records, the ones Im digging right now are at the front with the ones I liked last week following em, with a few safety numbers thrown in t'other side..........just in case, as I get something I wanna play out more, something that has gone of the boil for me goes back on the shelf for a rest..........bit of a 'hot box' system, but with records that I rate personally & hopefully without selling something to finance the latest purchase, altho' it has been known. Willie Tee - Funky Funky Twist Basic Sounds of Pitsburgh - Feel It Roy Roberts - So Much In Love La Familia Inc - Do You Love Me James Knox - Let The Music Move Ya La Jay Alexander - Say So Marvelle Hampton - I Truly Beleive (In Love) Willie Johnson - What Im Going To Do Brainstorm - Wake Up & Be Somebody Jesse James - I know I'll Never Find Another One (F***ing brilliant & in every box for a tenner !!!) Johnny Praye (AKA JJ Jackson) - Too Much Love The Voice Masters - You've Hurt Me Baby Lee Fields & the Spontaneous Generation - Take Me Back/Tyra's Song Chance & Tony (Mine & Shifty's 'Shadows' Cover up from few years ago) - Pretty Baby Jerry Butler - Some Kinda Magic/I Dig You Baby The Sheepherders Ft Bubba Bailey - I f Ever You Need Me Joy Lovejoy & the Joytones - My Hearts Been invaded The Lavells - Share Him William Cummings - Make My Love A Hurting Thing Kenny Smith & the Loveliters - One More Day Whoops 20, sorry anyhoo one from the front of the 12's box Loveman Ronnie Stokes - Touch You Again. As you can see a very wide eclectic selection, that are in a right jumble & deffo not in any 'play' order, Im the messiest DJ you have ever seen with records everywhere, but hopefully I seem to get away with it (most of the time hahahahah). Russ

  22. This was huge for me & Keith Woon at Abshott/Newbury some years ago, I think we were paying about 10UKP at the time, played it in the little crossover lounge at Bretby, were a certain DJ happened to be, a month later was played at Manch Ritz & it went mad. When I played this out at the 100 Club back then I was quite apprehensive about the reception it might get, need not have worried.......woooomph. Top tune. Russ
  23. I was at a Soul Night over here in the US a couple of years ago & my friend Brian Harris had been briefed to play a certain record at a point in the night & the promoter proposed to his girlfriend on the dancefloor on one knee, cant remember the tune he proposed to, but I had to smile at Brians choice of follow up record...........Guitar Ray - Your Gonna Wreck My Life I think that it was lost on most people but I thought it hilarious...............nice one Brian.
