  11. I think in this case its perfectly exceptable........In fact I might do it myself !!!!!!!!. Russ
  12. Stick to your guns my friend....... Russ
  13. Promoters should employ the right DJ for the night...........why should a DJ play lowest common denominator sounds just to fill a dance floor if that isnt the kind of 'sound' they would normally play. Having said that I have turned down DJ sets in the past cos I knew that I couldnt/wouldnt go down well at the venue. I dont really care that much about these kind of events, on the whole they dont enter my universe, cos Im into NS . Russ
  14. There are two kinds of soul music..good & bad............if its got the 'x' factor, play it. The NSS was/is spose to be progessive, thats the whole point. People can debate until they are blue in the face, but they cannot change the FACT that new discoveries are what 'real' NS is/was about. The handbaggers, part timers & nostalgia junkies can crack on pretending, while the real underground scene, continues with the true ethos of the Rare Soul scene. Its just how it is. Russ
  15. LP only, loads out there & cheap too. Russ
  16. The Road To Addiction............ Posted by Russ Vickers, 20 February 2008 · It's the Spring of 1977 & my whole life was about to change forever..........working class family, Comprehensive School education, small town or should I say village upbringing in a typical Midlands semi rural setting. I was 15 years old & for almost 10 years the sound of the Rare Soul Underground had been pounding in the hearts of the 'In Crowd'..........to which I was completely oblivious !!!. I have alway's loved music. My memories from a small child were full of The Beatles, Elvis, Johnny Cash & many other pop hits of the time, that my family would listen to on the radio or the old record player. I was allowed to play the old 45's lieing around too, so from quite an early age, I was 'spinning tunes'. At school we talked about T.Rex, David Bowie, Roxy Music etc, but filtering thru the 'Glam' via the school disco I started to become aware of soul music, commercial disco really, I would go to my local record store & buy a lot of these 12's, I would also consult Blues & Soul for the recommendations & eagerly await thier arrival to be picked up at the store, much of my pocket money, would be spent in this way, & much to my Mother's consternation & the obligatory cries of 'Turn that Rubbish Down' I would play them constantly........I still have some of those early purchases.........& boy are they embarrassing now, but I wouldnt part with them for the world....... I still didn't 'really' get it, I enjoyed these records, but my heart was yet to be totally captured......the hairs on the back of the neck, had yet to raise to those truly soulful rythmns..............but the journey had began....... oh & what a journey.
  17. Clarence Carter............hoofin' record at a great price too, IMO this is pretty obscure & doesnt turn up too often. Russ
  18. I have the obligatory black fist & KTF.........had it sooooooo long looks like a lump of coal now !. Being a Navy Boy, where tattoo's where almost mandatory..........Ive seen some crackers.........for example the urban myth, of the guy who has 'HMS' written on his willy........but when he gets excited, shall we say, it reads 'HMS ILLUSTRIOUS'. Has any one ever seen the traditional tattoo 'The Fox & Hounds' probably not a very trendy tattooo these day's, but its a complete back & sides of a hunt scene, horses, fences, huntsmen, scenery the whole kit & kaboosh..........with only the foxes tail visible coming out from ya ass...................!!!!!!!. Also many years ago, some military guys would have 'f**k off' written on the outside of thier palm, so when ever they saluted an officer, instead of being a mark of respect, gave a whole new meaning !!!!!!!!. Also what about the 'W's on each buttock, that when you bend over say's 'WOW' . Russ
  19. Little Beaver still available, first come first served...........some one had asked me to hold this pending payment, but now fell thru...............pissed, cos there is another in the sales now, so best unridiculous offer will get it......... Russ
  20. Blatant boingggggg !!!!
  21. I know mate, but condition isnt perfect, altho' plays fine & the DJ at the radio station, wrote his name in black marker, so thought i would let some one get a bargain. Russ
  22. Updated & couple added.............more to follow later. Russ
  23. Pete Has the Lay Jay Alexander gone, if not I'll take it pse. Russ
  24. ........offers on the remaining discs invited, but be sensible please. Russ
