  2. Do you know the Sheepherders 45 Steve ???.........pretty good in its own right & another v rare disc too. Russ
  3. Hi guy's just wanted to add some info on the Royal V11 disc that a good friend from VA has passed on, the Royal V11 were actually the 'Sheepherders' but minus Bubba Bailey......also I beleive that a reissue is about to surface soon possibly, so yes a white band, as although the line up was very transcient I think Bubba Bailey was the only black member (Its his vocal on the Sheepherders 45). Hope this info is some help to someone. ATB Russ
  4. Kinda like this myself...........doesnt get played out much down this way, so pretty underplayed, propper NS !!!!..........had a little reactivation at the Dome, but wasnt thrashed.........I think still has a few credible plays left in it. Good luck Phil. Russ
  5. So whats the solution..........wasnt there a big meeting in the 8ts of some sort, where the major players of the time got thier respective heads together & thrashed out a way ahead with regard to promotions/venues etc.............would it help ?????........& what are we trying to acheive...........I suspect that the local soul night crowd will always do thier thing at their local do, so is the solution to disregard this part of the scene to some extent, after all traditionally, the local do was were you went before setting off for ya nighter or the place were the youngsters went for thier first taste of Rare Soul, before attending Nighters, but really you didnt expect that much, as it was the Nighters were you generally heard the top gear. If you take the 'soul night' crowd who never travel to Nighters out of the equation, then you probably get a better picture of the true Rare Soul Scene & the numbers of potential punters your gonna get at a nighter, certain types of soul night give a false impression of just how popular the NS scene is. The 'Real' Rare Soul scene, is still quite small comparitively speaking, when you remove the more commercial promotions & thier punters who dont travel. I perssonally dont think there is an answer, punters will decide with thier feet & regardless we'll have a scene of sorts probably forever, whether its the kinda scene that the true beleivers wanna be part of is debatable tho'................time will tell, but personally Im into this for the long haul & I'll always find my bit of soul heaven some where out there. Russ
  6. Ever get the feeling of De Ja Vu..............its all happened before..........but look on the bright side, wont be long now if history repeats itself, like it seems to be doing, that, we'll be left with the hardcore & a venue that will break the mould & once again the 'real' scene will rise from the ashes Pheonix like once again.............some fantastic real deal veues about still, support them & let the wannabees, gold diggers, glory grabbers, hand baggers & tourists fall by the way side, as they did & as they will again...........the real Rare Soul Scene is still out there folks, ya just need to find it & its not that hard, support em and enjoy ya selfs doin it. Russ

  10. I have been married 20 years, my wife loves soul music, but not with the all consuming passion I have, when our soon was born, her enthusiasm has dwindles, but she still goes to an occasional local do & now & again travels.....................Im that sad, that when we married, I made it quite clear that I was on the scene for the long haul, its a lifestyle & that if she thought that in a few years down the line, I would have me feet up on the dog lstening to AOR, then lets call it day now...................harsh, but true.........................I love her to bits & she is a soul widow in the true tradition. Russ

Steve, Im almost certain this isnt it..........ironically someone told me who it was recently & then ive gone & forgot, funnily enough, in the same conversation the MFSB version was mentioned also..........Im pretty sure it was the 'something' Orchestra, I keep wanting to say Beleric Orchestra, but that isnt it, but something like that...........Im just teasing myself really mate, as I spose It'll be unobtainable !!!!. Thank you for your help mate. Russ
  20. Im assuming this is an acetate/dub a version of Back Stabbers by the Something Orchestra ????????. Any ideas, also want to know if available/format/price. Anyone with a soundfile could you PM me with it pse. Thank you. Russ
  21. The scene has suvived all kinds of political & financial, upturns, down turns, booms, crashes & god knows what else...........it'll carry on regardless, people will still discover records, buy records & sell records.............I'll buy new releases for a fiver & if Im more flush I might go for a more expensive buy from my dusties 'wants' I'll also collect anything inbetween that I LIKE too, irespective of price, its quality that counts. The only people this will really effect are those that bought discs at vastly inflated prices, on credit & did it for all the wrong reasons. I dont think this is going to really effect my record buying routines, no money cheapies, flush the more expensive bits & between your digging like a maniac, trying to find the next big thing, or fall over a box of sure fire sellers or what ever, its a lifestyle.............as the infamous Dave Moore often says.......'A record a day..........' & if Im honest, on balance I probably do buy at least a record a day..........still. Russ
