  17. We all know & love the classics from the Golden era & they are well documented on the whole, even the tunes played during the 8ts, after the tourists had left the scene for dead, when the REAL die hard's kept the scene alive & vibrant with a twist have become classics & in many cases been revived over the last 10 - 15 years & enjoyed almost like newies again by the returnees that missed them first time around, but what are the classic tunes POST Stafford etc, we are constantly told nothing could compare with the discoveries from the Golden Era, but I disagree & wondered what your classics from the scenes more recent history (comparitively speaking) are or maybe you feel there arnt any discoveries from this period that can be considered classics. Here's a few from me: Jimmy Bo Horne - I Just Cant Speak - Dade Fortsom & Scott - Sweet Lover - Pzazz Parliments-This is my rainy day-Cabel Hamilton Movement-She's Gone-Look-Out Vanguards-Good Times, Bad Times-Lamp Johnny Praye-Cant Get Too Much Love-Sidewalk Trannels-Im Blessed With a Love-Flo Jo Barons of Soul-You Need Love Lil Major Williams-Girl Don't Leave Me/Girl Your So Sweet-Paladium/Williams 111 Walter & the Admerations-Man o Man-La Cindy Carla Thomas-Never Stop Loving You True Image-I'm Not Over You-Super Smash Camaros - We're Not Too Young - D'ar Cha Soul Incorporated - My Proposal-Coconut Groove Mello Souls - We Can Make It - Mello Hyperions - Why you wanna treat me - Chattahoochie Annabel Fox-Lonely Girl-Satin Chuck Cockerham-Have I the Right-Mala Barbara Lynne-Moovin' On a Groove-Jetstream Ruby Andrews-Just Loving You-Zodiac Jesse James- love is all right-Shirley Joey Delorenzo-Wake Up To The Sunshine Girl- Mi Val All the unissued RCA from Ady Ben E King-Give It To Me Cody Black-Its Our Time To Fall In Love-Gig Eddie Billups-Ask My Heart-Peachtree Potentiall loads more...........so what are your post Stafford era tunes, you feel deserve classic status ???????????? Russ

  21. To be honest Im sitting here wondering why Im getting involved in all of this again.............but as I see it, certain issues on the NS scene are a matter of courtesy & tradition, yes, we should all question & push the boundaries, but as one of the only people to come out of the 'Police Box' on this thread, I dont see some of our traditions 'as the law' but just a guide line as how to conduct your self as a Promoter/DJ/Collector or punter, on the whole these have occured naturally almost, as a way of 'self policing'.........other wise we would have no ethical frame work or code as to what is excepted behaviour etc.....................f**k me, what am I on about ..........almost make it sound like a 'secret society' .........eeeeerrrrrrmmmmmmmm maybe we were once upon a time. Russ
  22. I think I am a fully paid up, card carrying member of the 'Soul Police' ............because I beleive in trying to do the 'right thing'. Some people use the phrase to ridicule those that speak out about certain things on the NS scene that they disagree with...........as with everything there are extremes, but if trying to do your best to promote & enjoy the music we love in the traditional manner, these traditions having been passed down through the years & is generally excepted as being the norm & the correct etiquette is being a Soul Copper then........ allo, allo, allo.............. instead of seeing it as a slur I wear my constabulary badge with honour !!!!!!!!!!!!. Russ
  23. Mike Would this record not have packed the floor if it had been on its original format............or are we saying, that said tune packed the floor because it was a re-issue/boot what ever ..............its not the record, its the format. Russ
  24. Sean, as far as Im aware, the Kansas City group have no connection. This is basically Tim Whitsett's Imperial Showband, with Tommy on lead & Dorothy Moore backing..............it was recorded in the grease pit of a garage !!!!............the fore runner to the Grits n Gravy Studios !!!!!. You are quite right in saying Marva Whitney was a one time member of the Kansas City TATD tho'. At present Tommy is in a care home confined to a wheel chair, I have tried to find out if he can get access to the internet, as we should email him to wish him well.........still waiting for a confirmation tho', Hope this helps, Dave Abbott did a lot of research & may be able to add to this. BTW This is deffo Tommy Tate, confirmed by TW & others. Russ
