  2. I aplologise if I inadvertently offended you, not really my intention, but I still find it slightly weird that if you are out every week end, your a member of SS etc, etc your naivety with regards to NS & who, when, oldies, newies etc is deffo weird still, I think you sound very nice, but I think there is an element of 'fence sitting' here, regardless of when you were born, as this really has no bearing, as your old enough to have been attending venues for at least 18 years.........well, thats if you started slightly illegally as we did................ Russ
  3. Looks like I was right them. Russ
  4. Sandy Golden is absolutely awesome & always has been............played for many years & for many to come I hope.......... Brilliant stuff. Russ
  5. Errrrrrrrrrmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmm some of the posts just smack slightly of 'we love oldies', we're not interested in records that wernt played back in the day & any DJ that has an interest in breaking new sounds cant be any good..........Im also wondering if the original intent of the thread starter was not a thinly veiled attempt to suggest this anyway.............you naughty people. Here we go again, I'll get mi tin hat out............ BTW I love 'oldies' too............but new discoveries are the life blood of the scene, whether you like it or not & guess what some of the 'oldies' that we all hold so dear to our hearts were once newies & DJ's on occasion cleared floors with em............true, also as an aside think about this, if no new records had been discovered by DJ's who were prepared to risk the 'floor' we would still be dancing to records from probably just the'Wheel'........or I should say you would be............breaking new sounds is part of a DJ's job.............just depends if they have got the bottle or not. I also find it incredible, that anyone who is on the NS in the UK has such a vague idea of the worlds number one Rare Soul DJ.........I just wonder where you guys go ???????...........or maybe your just being a bit naughty again hey !!!!!!!!!!!!. Its almost as ludicrous as some one into NS in the 7ts, having a vague idea about Richard Searling...........very weird. Russ
  6. Jayne.............you've never heard Butch do a set ???????????......... Russ
  7. I think soul night DJ's can be more regional & could have a regional following, they may not even be known outside of thier local night............this doesnt mean they are not good DJ's, but would be hard to quantify outside of their locality. Russ
  8. The amount of people dancing is not the only measure of how good or bad a DJ is..............many other factors come into this, put any real Allnighter DJ in a room of punters that enjoy top 500, then they'll die a death playing thier usual set, like wise a beloved local DJ could die a death at a NS Allnighter. I dont think there is any fair way of judging this, however I beleive that the popular concensus of opinion is the mighty, mighty BUTCH is the number one Rare Soul DJ in the world & I would kinda go along with this............ Russ
  9. Rhetta Hughes - Relight My Fire - Tetragamation Maxine Brown - Out of Sight - Epic Two of the best LP's in the genre you like Shep........... Best Russ
  10. Well, missed the Anniversary this year, prior to DJ commitments in Espania, couldnt be avoided. As I feel cheeky approaching Ady...........pse, pse, pse could some nice person help me keep my Anniversay collection complete.......would be forever in your debt, well not really cos I'll pay for it.....PM me. Thank you. Russ
  11. Viva Espania.......................OVO.........original soul people too............soul, sangria & sun & like mided people who 'get it'. Russ
  12. Not by me you wont, cos this is the point I've been trying to make from the beggining of this thread. Russ
  13. It wasnt an issue for me Gav, remember double decking with you in the smoke at one of Kev's dayers in Brixton........you asked me if I minded, I didnt & you were very gracious as I remember, you could have played an odd thing you knew I had in mi box of CDR, but let me do the 'glory grabbing'. Russ
  14. ............Then uncovered rather unceromoniously, much to RS consternation . Russ
  15. Yeah, your right................see ya. Russ
  16. Look ...............you know very well what's being spoken about here, but I'll give you the benifit of the doubt & go through it all again...........unissued material is acceptable on any format for DJing..............now you may want to make some big issue out of this, I dont know.............I dont know how you feel about these things, however, it appears to me that its the DJ/promoters that play & allow these things to be played that seem to have the most objections to OVO............dont you think that says something in its self ............ Russ
  17. Give that man a round of applause............my god, common sense prevails........its what the entire scene was/is/should be based on & now people who still hold these ethics close are ridiculed, mocked, accused of being in the secret Police & any number of other accusations.........I some times wonder if entering into these debates is really worth it, I feel that I always come out looking badly, all I want to do is uphold what are after all the corner stones of the Rare Soul scene, these things havn't just been made up over night you know........I actually find it difficult to beleive that people would actually question the reasoning, but then of course if you dont play OVO you would do wouldnt you . Russ
  18. Dont worry about it Paul, cant be arsed............if I have to explain, you obviously dont get it............. Russ
  19. Bought mine about the same time Pat & have similar reservations, I had hoped these were wrong as they seem to have dried up a little & price seems to be going up a little on odd ones I have seen for sale too............mmmmmmmmmm we'll see. Russ
  20. Depends on the night etc. Russ
  21. LRSV - ST - 4526 A LRSV - ST - 4526 B These are scratched in. Russ
  22. I think that might be the scanner Val, my copy is orange. Russ
  23. Can someone PM me too, as I would like to know what the crack is & if mine is a real un or not. Thank you. Russ
  24. But it really is not intended to sound like that Roger, you know me & we get along I like to think, altho we dont agree on everything we agree I hope that we're both passionate about soul music.............fact is Roger the genuine local soul nights nobody really has an issue with. Im sorry but Im finding it difficult to express myself properly without sounding a knob, but my intention is to defend the genuine local soul nights, whilst pointing out, that some people Promoter/DJ wise will use this format as a vehicle to either make money or try to further thier dubious DJing careers. And I most definately do not think Im better at Soul Music than anyone else. Russ
