Jamaican Soul
Errol Dixon did quite a few 'soulful' recordings and this Glen Miller deep soul cut is bizarrely on the flip of a Dennis Alcapone Dee Jay record
-

Most inappropriate request to a DJ....
Why, if he was so disgusted by your request, did he have a copy in his box?!!

-
Cultural History
My aunty walked into a pub in Medway in the 60s where 'some American bloke was making a right bloody racket' and left after about 10 minutes. Found out later it was Jimi Hendrix!

The constellations
Wouldn't sell it for less than £150, have seen it go for twice that last year but to be fair the value seems to fluctuate quite a bit!

Glen Miller - Where Is The Love...history On The Northern Soul Scene
Mine has the push out centre also. Doctor Bird did do a few solid centre releases but I've never seen this Lloyd & glenn 45 as a solid centre, still don't think it justifies the asking price though!!

Is this the locally famous BUB?
Never knew or met The Big Bub, only heard about him from Stuart Cosgroves book. Seems like he was certainly a character on the scene who met his fate no thanks to Thatch*r. I really hope this is one of his 45's it would be a fitting tribute. RIP Bub

JM Recent Auction Discussion (split from comedy sales topic)
Exactly, apartheid has always been associated with South Africa but for some reason the USA has escaped the accusation

JM Recent Auction Discussion (split from comedy sales topic)
For a short time he did, as did Stokely Carmichael but he also said this: To be honest Malcolm x's (and the nation of islam) views have never sat well with me. The black power movement is much more multi faceted than the white power movement which has always been in favour of segregation and oppression by violent means. The black panther movement never supported segregation. The black power movement may not have been perfect and had internal differences of opinion but the ku klux clan, national front or Nazis they were not. IMO that's why I don't think they are comparable.

JM Recent Auction Discussion (split from comedy sales topic)
Black power is not separatist or racist. It is for the social and political empowerment of black people who have been subject to racial prejudice for centuries. It's not black supremacy or hatred of other races. White power is the call for separation of the races and the ideology that other races are inferior.

You can't seriously compare the two. Black Power acts on self love and equality, the other on hate and supremacy.
