Tickets are £5 on the door. Or buy in advance from We Got Tickets - https://www.wegottickets.com/event/551954/ Making her Crawdaddy! debut this month is guest DJ Valentina Savio. Valentina says: "My early introduction into the soul scene was in the late 90s. In my hometown of Genoa, the Black Trefoil Soul Club was for me and many others the soul music springboard into the Italian niter scene, leading to regular visits to up-front clubs like Breakout (Milan), Voice Your Choice' (Vincenza), Covo (Bologna) and the Rimini Soul Weekender - which I promoted for several years. "Those events gave me the opportunity to listen to great soul music played by Italian DJs and a lot of international guests. My thirst for soul music led me to travel to the UK frequently, especially the 100 club. Also, weekenders like Cleethorpes and Fleetwood (Tent) had a big musical impact on me and those are the places where I fell in love with 6t's midtempo and crossover soul. I feel so fortunate to have Dj’d both in Europe and the UK, but the real pleasure is sharing my music passion with so many like minded friends in the record bar or on the dance floor. "Here are some records that I am currently crazy over and will be playing them out for you to enjoy: "Martha Reeves & The Vandellas - In And Out Of My Life (Gordy) Little Reuben – In The Name Of Loneliness (New Records) J J Barnes - Lonely No More (Mickay's) Kenny Smith - Lord What's Happening To Your people (Gar) Curtis Mayfield - If I Were Only A Child Again (Buddha) Dionne Warwick - Meant To Be (Soul4real) Bobby Womack – Come L’amore (United Artists)" Tickets are £5 on the door. James Brown's 'night Train' - A Query
Gary Crossing replied to Gary Crossing's topic in All About the SOUL
Thanks Pete. You haven't got one for sale at the moment have you? -
I have bought three copies of James Brown's Night Train (Sue Records W1-360) over the last year or so and all of them have been terrible quality. Visibly they look great... but on two of them the sound is completely muffled, like JB is performing under a duvet. The third one seems to start off fine but after a few seconds you realise that it is playing at twice the speed. Is this a common problem with this particular record? Or have I just been unlucky? Cheers Gary
