  1. I searched for this track for ages and then got two within weeks of each other, sold my spare to Paul Mooney for a tenner. It is hard to find but suprised that it reached $250. I think if the ebay auction didn't have a soundbite he wouldn't have got more than $20. Tomo
  2. The b side of Ty Karim's "Keep on doing" on Sheridan House is by "Ty & Towana". Which would suggest they are two different people. Towana Hill also had a track on the same label. I was told Towana is Ty's sister. Tomo
  3. Godz, I got one of these too and your right it's a warning to other collectors about H LOVE, whoever he is ? I'm sure Uwe is a german guy who sends me links to his ebay sales. His ebay name is "bass creator" I must of dealt with him in the past and he's emailed everybody in his address book. Tomo
  4. Allanton at Shotts was a great nighter. Had a memorable 21st birthday there. A record that always reminds me of that night is Tootsie Rollers - Give me love - Me-o. Covered up at the time as Silky Hargreaves i think. Always had a good night north of the border and a trip back is long overdue. Tomo
  5. Teri Thornton - Molly Marlene - Mothers 100 Dee Dee Sharp - What kind of lady - Gamble (rarer red cards logo) 45 Dee Dee Sharp - What kind of lady - Gamble (black issue) 35 Royal Robbins - Turn me loose - ABC Paramount demo 30 Lovelites - (When) I get scared - Phi Dan 30 James Dockery - My faith in you is all gone - Soul Craft (blue) 30 Chi Chi - If you're gonna love me - Kapp demo 40 Drifters - You got to pay your dues - Andee 15 Solitaire - Fool that I am - MGM demo 30 Ric Martin - I traveled the road - MGM demo 40 Nick Ashford - When I feel the need - Verve 15 Hattie Littles - Here you come - Gordy demo 50 Ethics - I want my baby back - Vent 20
  6. Yes they were on Acid Jazz, haven't heard all there stuff but i know they had a few albums out. I've listened to a few soundbites on the web and it sounds like a right old mixture of stuff. Strange looking band too. Tomo
  7. Wizards Of Ooze - Trippin' . Done by a punky Belgian band in the 90s. Sounds like Curtis Mayfield from mid 70s. Tomo
  8. Did they record anything else? What's the Formations story? Knowledge gap needs filling here! link
  9. Went underground over a year ago when he got caught pinching records from me. It's funny you mention him cos i've just been thinking of him whilst on the punch bag at the gym. Every dog has his day. Tomo
  10. Theres no difference between the album and 45 version, exactly the same from start to finish. For those searching for it, it's actually the b-side of "That's the way ..." Tomo
  11. Definately wasn't the dolphin centre. They had stopped doing them there before 85. The buildings still there and last time i passed it was called the Plastered Parrot. It was a small venue, upstairs on the first floor. Tomo
  12. Jamesy, I think it was called something like The Durlia or delia club. I was 16 years old and only been to a few allnighters before that night, also the first live acts i'd seen. Was it Chris King who introduced the acts and mentioned that it was a poor turn out for two Detroit legends. He was pissed off that another soul night was on in Newcastle the same night. Much better turn out the following night at Stafford. 1985, was it really twenty years ago. Memories i'll never forget. I found this soundbite a few months back of Eddie Parker singing "I'm Gone" at stafford. Check it out, sounds amazing. https://freespace.virgin.net/mark.e.jones/E...20live!.htm Tomo
  13. Possibly "soulful eyes" I think it's on warner Bros. Sounds like a white Walter Jackson in parts. I've got an MP3 somewhere on my computer, i'll have a look. Give me your email and i'll send it to you. Tomo
  14. #14 Lada Edmund Jr. - La Rue ???
  15. I'm sure i've heard that the Herman Hitson acetate is actually a guy called Nate Adams. He has a 45 on Atlantic called "I'm gonna be good". I'll have to try and listen to them both to see if the voice is the same. In the 70s film Superfly, Nate Adams comes up in the credits as one of the drug dealers. Only presuming that theres a link between these three things. Ohio Players version is on the Trip album called "Superpak". Tomo
  16. Mike Charlton from Boro discovered the Curtis Anderson track. He came back from the states with about a dozen of them but left 100+. I think he sorted a deal for the rest of them then something went wrong and they never surfaced. I'd think you'd be taking a risk paying big money for it. £750 on manships auction. If these have been turning up lately, has somebody found the lot Mike left behind ? Donald Albert version can be picked up for around £15. Tomo
  17. The 7 mins version on the twelve is basically Part 1 and Part 2 from the 45 joined together. The b-side is pts 1 & 2, so you get the 7" version on the back of the twelve. If i was gonna DJ with it i'd stick to the short version. I'd say without any doubt that it's much rarer than the 45, which is not the case with the Brite Lite release. Tomo
  18. It's definately a boot from the early 90s. Remember getting one for a tenner, there was plenty of them about. The 10 track LP is called "The Hitsville Masters" and was pressed about the same time. It has 9 unissued plus Eddie Holland's "Outside looking in". Mines # 85 from a 500 run. Tomo
  19. Four Tops & Supremes - Do you love me just a little, honey David Ruffin - What you gave me Thelma Houston - Nothing left to give Three perfect crossover tracks Tomo
  20. Jordi & Dave's set was brilliant. Really enjoyed the night. I'll stick my neck out and say it was the best Orwell so far. Tolbert and 2001 Black Essence being my faves. Already looking forward to the next one. Tomo
  21. Just joined the forum to hopefully shed some light on this topic. Most people will know me as Tomo from M' Boro, and hello to anyone who does. I think the original is light blue but also a longer cut. It starts with a piano intro for about 15 - 20 seconds. The second issues or bootlegs (where they legit ?) also came in light blue aswell as the dark green colours. I've had both second issues and both had the intro cut. The one with the longer intro has "Superdisc" on the run out. Superdisc being the Detroit studio where it was cut. So i think the answer is in the grooves. Don't crucify me on my first post if this is not exactly true. Having sold the other two and kept the orig ?, i hope i'm right. Thanks Alan T
