  1. £200 - £300 Waaaaayyyyyyyyyyyyyyyyy too much. Anybody paying this sort of price should be singing.. 'Oh, oh, oh, I've been robbed, so many times...'
  2. Did consider the toilet humour line meself but opted for the porn side of things in the end...
  3. Think I heard it used in a film not long ago......might have been 'Chicks with dicks' or 'Whores with balls'.........
  4. Wheel / Torch / Wigan....??????? (someone will probably tell me it was played at Wheel now!!!) To be fair, it is a tune that does easily crossover in that Bud Harper et al group of Northern / R&B. Just like to throw a few lines out when these threads come up........always seem to catch something decent...
  5. Not really mate - have heard loads of tunes just by delving through record boxes at Hideaway and making mental notes.....not just R&B either. Then back home for 3.00 a.m. and straight on ebay!!!
  6. You have to try and get in there early mate....only takes a few weeks nowadays and the game is over Have heard things up Hideaway etc in the past, and have picked a few copies up off ebay within a week or so and then bang...every f*ckers onto it!
  7. I buy plenty off ebay, both for myself and to sell on. Don't like sending silly amounts of money overseas though, so prefer to buy any biggies from U.K. dealers...
  8. Not really debating where it was spun first Rachel, only ever went Stafford once near the end, so never heard it there, but got to know it off the mod scene in the late 80s....no question about it being R&B though..... Point being, if the Northern Scene hadn't picked up on it again a few years back it would still be £30 / £40 max.
  9. ...and don't jump down me throat about Darrow Fletcher not being R&B - I was referring to records on the mod scene that have escalated to silly prices...
  10. Darrow Fletcher is another one...what the f*ck is going on there £100+ lately.... Was a common joke on the mod scene that no Darrow Fletcher U.S. 45 would fetch more than £4..................they were everywhere!
  11. Probably right on A C Reid, but think £30 is fair - compared to £100 + I've seen it for many times (has anyone actually ever sold one for that amount? ) Used to pick them up on the mod scene for £4 in the late 80's.......along with many other items that are £50+ nowadays. Thought Willie McDougal was about £80, so if Chalky says £150 it will probably fetch £300 Result! Looking forward to having same conversation about Little Annie in 9 months time ...after seeing Jo Ann Henderson fetch £480 or thereabouts...looks like R&B is the new Northern....
  12. ...and that is the logic that is needed off everyone to bring prices of such items down to a realistic level. If everyone said the same dealers would have to lower prices...but not everyone will (and will admit to being a hypocrite at this point as I've done the same myself many times in the past) There are still certain records that I would probably pay over the odds to own, top wants and the like, but on the whole I have turned plenty of things down in the last year or so, to eventually get them much cheaper a few months later from a different source.
  13. Paid £25 about 5 years ago - saw it rise to about £60 / £70 about 2 years back and thought that was about as high as it would go....if anything interest on the Northern Scene seemed to die off after that. Agree with Joe - £100 max, though £80 sounds more than fair. Then again, this is what happens when R&B gets accepted by the Northern Scene. Same happened with the likes of A C Reid, which should be a £30 record in reality....(and a hundred other tunes to boot) So what's the going rate on Willie McDougal 'Don't turn away' nowadays? Glad I buy these things when the majority still class them as Rock'n'Roll
  14. My missus always moans during sex Last night she said... 'If you were a gentleman you wouldn't make me do this...' I told her if she was a lady she wouldn't talk with her mouth full...
  15. This is exactly what the scene needs, and I think this site is an ideal place to ensure the larger event clashes are kept to a minimum, if not avoided completely. Could someone post up weekender dates and other allniters such as Steam / 100 club / Marrs bar / Keele and any others in the 'Dates' thread in events. Mike, could you possibly set up a fixed section dedicated to 2006 weekend calender dates for such events as allnighters/weekenders etc so everybody can see at a glance what is planned, and avoid any further clashes. Soul nights are a different kettle of fish, as there are too many to avoid, and don't really affect allnighters, but I think mini allnighters should be included (4 oclock finishes etc)
  16. Nah, if you listen carefully Weller is definately singing... 'Eating trifles, eating trifles' Think the skinny f*cker would put some weight on eating all them trifles though.......
  17. Now this is so true. I remember when I was a young lad you'd see loads knocking about the town. There was one who used wander around Hanley (Stoke) whistling all the time...you'd get on a bus and hear the whistling from the top deck, or walk into some shop/cafe and hear the same. I have to say he was an excellent whistler, and always in tune.... He still smelt of p*ss though
  18. Now reading old lists like this has to be the absolute worst thing you can do...other than posting it up here so we all have a nosey and feel just as gutted as you Photocopy 'em and send 'em back to the dealers I say. Just to p*ss them off as well!!!!!
  19. I think you should keep away from the stairs, slippy wooden floors, and any steps or dodgy flags in the garden. Just in case like......
  20. Barbara McNair - The touch of time (flip of ...Love my baby) If you don't know it check it out........
  21. ................anyway, expect a flurry of them on ebay now - probably selling for half that amount.......
  22. F*ckin' nora.............. Paid about £50 for mine 18 months ago. Heard Ginger is after a copy of this - so expect it to double again if he gets one. I sold a 78 for £40 2 years ago, but buyer was a collector, not DJ, so he was happy to have it in what I presume would be it's 'earliest original' format ... He had a player with 78 speed so was quite content. Great tune but gone for waaaaayyyyyyyyyyyyy too much.
  23. I'm sure I saw this auction a few weeks back. The Graham Bond U.S. Ascot 45 is also worth a few bob.
  24. Not wound me up at all mate.......(yet) So what's wrong with old womens underwear....
  25. Hows about this for you 'chum' breath. Even let's your 'bitch tits' breath.... https://cgi.ebay.com/LARGE-BLACK-UNDERBUST-...1QQcmdZViewItem
