  1. Very rarely sell me own stuff Stevie. Scour around for second copies or stuff I'm not bothered about keeping to sell on to fund me habit. You could sell your arse but I suspect you would only raise enough for a battered Goldmine 7"
  2. No probs - will let you know either way. Regards Mace
  3. Might know someone who may be willing to sell a copy of this from their own collection. P.M. what price you are looking to pay for it and I'll as him this weekend. Regards Mace.
  4. --> QUOTE(Mike B @ Jan 29 2006, 10:44 PM) link that copy that went through a week or so ago that was won by someone on here - can't remember who but they live in the States near to the seller- well the seller is now no longer registered with ebay... Mike B Link to previous thread below.. /index.php?showtopic=23777 Be interesting to know if winning bidder collected the record personally as hoped.
  5. Anyone know if she released owt else on Decca?
  6. Sorry, slightly off topic, but just noticed Sheppard Grant in that group photo Chalky posted. Anyone know if that is Shep Grant who recorded 'You found my lonely heart a home' on Musicor? Cheers Mace
  7. A VG- copy for $18......looks like my shiny Ex copy might buy me a hangover yet
  8. Presumably Reatha and Patience were the ones you sold. Oldies R&B Have you heard another track by Mabel King on Amy - saw one the other day, but not sure what it's like?
  9. Some other great tunes in that style - Mabel King 'Go back home young fella' (Amy) Patience Valentine ' If you don't come' (Sar) Reatha Resse 'Only lies' (Dot) Mary Jonshon 'These tears' (Foxy or Queen) Top notch R&B - but Northern Soul to those that don't like R&B
  10. Is that you Mr Ferguson? Heard you were sniffing around on here 'Uptown jerk' is the crap one I seem to remember - is the other one on Uptown any good? Regards Mace.
  11. Bugger... You'd think half the track would be worth half the money One for ebay then
  12. Looking good...... that's the kinda reply I like to read! Anyone got info on 7" ???
  13. Fully expected it mate - nearly added 'No comments required from Chalky' but kinda knew you would anyway!
  14. Just got your message Mark. Sorry that we can't have you on board for Bidds Allniter, but fully understand your decision and hope you get yourself sorted mate. All the best for the future, wherever it takes you! Regards Mace.
  15. Just found a 45 in a box of oddball stuff that I know nowt about...anybody know if its worth owt?? The Whole Darn Family Ain't nothing but something to do / Half of seven minutes of funk Soul International Records (SI 105) Cheers Mace
  16. Nearly forgot 'Didn't lose a doggone thing' on Press. Great R&B tune. Got another tune by an artist called Cookie Jackson on Reena but can't be same artist cus it's really bad Country and Western (so bad even I don't like it )
  17. Cookie Jackson 'Try love' on both Cyclone and Progress is even better IMO Used to be around £400, but not sure if still the case. 'Good girl gone bad???' and 'Suffer?' ring a bell. Also one on Uptown but it's pants
  18. Have said it to dealers meself....both for over and underpricing - but again, won't name names.... Plus the price can always be dropped if they get it wrong and it doesn't sell...whereas it's too late if they sell it too cheap On the other side of the coin, how about this then - you see a record on a list you've been after for ages, in mint condition for half the value you think its worth. Do you... 1) Phone the dealer up and politely tell him of his mistake, and then offer double the price he listed it for 2) Buy the bugger as quick as you can then tell all and sundry you've had a proper bargain 3) Leave it where it is cus theres no such thing as a bargain
  19. Like I say, no matter how much some of us think we know, we don't know it all, so over and underpricing will always happen. The R&B side of things has definately upset the applecart on pricing, cus a lot of dealers don't know how to price it, cus it's an unknown market to most of them. I've had some blinding R&B bargains through this, but also seen relatively cheap and common tunes listed for stupidly high prices.....would love to give examples but don't want to upset anyone by naming names
  20. Great tune - got an Ex copy for sale at £35 if anyone wanys one Prices will always vary - same as if you go buy a car or a house or a loaf of bread. Shop around and you'll probably get a better deal. Haggle and you'll usually get it cheaper. There is no bible to quote from, even the price guides ar all over the place...we all make it up as we go along. Supply and demand will always push prices up, but who decides a relatively unknown record should be worth £50 or £100????? Experience and knowledge will always help...but I bet every dealer at some point has picked up a tune he doesn't know and thinks I'll stick £50 on that, same as they might stick £15 on it and get told it's recently sold for £150.
  21. Sold a Willie Mason for £300 last year - already got Nat Hall (Mr Bicknells old copy) and much prefer it to the Willie Mason version. As also said, got a nice flip on Nat Hall - compared to 'Knock on wood' on Willie Mason He's got a decent surname though.... Got the Willie Mason off ebay - it was listed by a U.K. dealer, hidden in the 60s pop section for £2 starting bid with no reserve Went for quite a bit more than that in the end, but still got it cheap.
  22. I personally believe that the allnighters will on a whole go back to being more underground with attendance figures dropping to 150 - 300 max, more likely to be at the lower end of the scale. One or 2 of the obvious big events may well continue being successful a few times a year, but I really believe the smaller nighters will become the main stay. The music will have to merge more to accomodate lower numbers so shite R&B will get played alongside wishy washy Northern and disco bunny modern Seriously though, this should allow more new tunes in all genres to break through.....as it used to do. Soul nights attendance figures will probably stay healthier for a lot longer due to the reasons outlined in previous posts, but a lot of allnighters have basically become extended soul nights due to the mass attendance expecting the same tunes they hear week in week out at their local soul nights....and the dancefloor dictates on such occasions. I think there is plenty of young DJs with plenty to offer, they may not be Butch et al by any standard, but they usually have limited exposure to play stuff they truly believe in, so time will tell. As for their choice of tunes, all said and done, one mans meat, is another mans poison.......
  23. Shane please keep my name out of it....
  24. Nah mate, just checked - she's still on there with tons of stuff... https://cgi6.ebay.com/ws/eBayISAPI.dll?MfcI...t=3&completed=1
  25. She must have run out of Eskew Reeder - Undivided Love........I had at least 14 copies off her She once sent me a box of 30 New Orleans Soul & R&B 45s for free, asking only for an indication of genre of music so she could describe them more accurately on ebay (yeah, yeah I know, why did she ask me then.... ) Maye even let me have records sent to her to forward on from U.S. sellers who would not ship out of U.S. Great gal...have to check ebay see if she's still selling....
