  1. Noooooooo...you and that pesky Merv..
  2. I've been infomed by a few people that Jo Ann Henderson is 1954. Gene-R post # 11 on the following thread backs that up. /index.php?showtopic=27755 Its a raucious screamin' version of the blues classic 'Baby, please don't go' which gained pop status when 'Them' recorded their version in the 60s. Big record on the Belgium popcorn scene that has gained massive popularity on the R&B and Mod scenes in the U.K. First recorded in 1935 according to the following link, but no mention of Jo Ann Henderson amongst the endless list of artists who have covered the track https://www.secondhandsongs.com/song/18415.html
  3. Fair points Mike - but compare this record to a few other R&B 45s that have reached £300+, for example 5 Royales and Big Daddy Rogers. I believe Jo Ann Henderson is far rarer than either of these. Jo Ann Henderson is now gaining interest from collectors on the Northern Soul scene who have a liking for R&B so it is inevitable that the value of this item will increase. Not agreeing that it is worth £500, but I can see how such values are obtained. As always, the trick is get it while it's cheap (as well you know )
  4. Jo Ann Henderson fetched around $800 on ebay last year, so not really surprised it has gone for over £500 on Johns auction. Wether I believe it's worth that myself is irrelevant, but take into account that it is scarce (1954 or thereabouts), plus it's highly desirable on the R&B scene, Mod scene and Popcorn scene, it is easy to understand why prices can go so high. Glad I only paid £50 for mine though Had a 78rpm of it once - got it from ebay for $2 and sold it for about £40. Never seen one since.......
  5. Only just caught up with this thread..... My thoughts and prayers are with Nige, his family and friends...get well soon mate.
  6. You'd still be surprised what T-Cut can get out mate if you know the best way to use it (ie - wash it off before it dries into that that powdery shite that clogs your grooves up even more ) Bout time someone invented a machine to cut back into the original grooves so worn/scratched copies could be 'renewed' so to speak...now how much would that baby be worth
  7. Remember reading about your copy in another thread not long ago Baz. Can you not remove the label that is in the grooves so it plays better? Know it will make label look odd but surely better to have it playing correctly? I know I'll get abuse for this but T-Cut would probably work wonders
  8. Got a white demo meself but have seen an orange issue (can't remember who had it though) Prefer the look of that foreign jobbie tho
  9. On U.S W.B.(Warner Bros) £250+ though some may say a lot more. Some one recently had an avatar of it on a beauty of a foreign WB label (Argentina or Chile???). Regards Mace.
  10. Would say the U.S. one only fetches about £20 nowadays. Worth more on U.K. Gene (probably £40 ish) Had a version by an artist called 'Falcon' on Crusade Records a few years back that was okay. If you like this tune check out 'Tender Love' by Tommy Jay on Hi. Regards Mace.
  11. Serious question for you Kev. A few Stoke Soulies have asked me about the music policy for the VIP night at Kings Hall on August 12th. This is obviously on topic for this thread so worth asking on here. Will it be a Soul night as they are expecting, or will it come under the VIP banner of an Over 35s night with a varied selection of music genres to suit that age bracket? Regards Mace.
  12. Flipside 'Comin' down' is a great tune
  13. Sure this is the track Tot Johnson has spun out a few times....great tune if so
  14. Not like you to complain about 'owt Joe. Do understand your point though, I have a feedback rating of 1003, which is 100% positive. However, I have over 1570 positive feedbacks, so over 30% of my transactions are from sellers I have bought from before (as one seller can only leave one feedback per buyer no matter how many transactions) As it goes, I normally snipe everything, or else I could be down on many an auction as a possible shill bidder... ...however, I wouldn't give a monkeys to be honest, cus if other possible buyers checking out goofbay are put off by the thought that I'm a shill bidder, it may put them off bidding and I might get it cheaper.... .. clouds and silver linings blah blah blah blah.....
  15. Paul, you should check out BIDDS Allnighter on Sept 23rd. 200 capacity venue, dark and atmospheric, experienced and friendly doorstaff, large wooden dancefloor, late late bar ( ) and with quality DJ's such as Mick H, John Weston, Des Parker & Roger Banks included on the line-up for the September date I'm sure you will find the music policy to be top notch. Regards Mace
  16. Great news About time he was out and about, annoying us all again...
  17. I'll take the Diane Paine if it's still available Marc?
  18. Joe, I'm pretty sure you can send cash insured and get payed out for it if it goes missing. Remember something similar happened to Linda (miss-popcorn) and when she claimed they asked for proof that she had withdrawn the said amount of cash from her bank account. Sent a substantial amount of cash about 6 months ago, and enquired with Royal Mail at time, who said it was okay to send and insure.
  19. Thanks Mike. Still got it - rarer black issue in Ex condition - £60 Paypal accepted. Regards Mace
  20. P.Med you Pete. Please send me an MP3 Regards Mace
  21. I was gonna knock £50 off......but you can also forget that now...
  22. I know...you've been avoiding Fred Bridges for ages.....
  23. Did I??? Can't remember bidding on one recently.... Then again I bid on loads of stuff but I forget a lot cus I use esnipe.....just missed out on The Empires tonight after bidding over £1,650 so can't be that tight you cheeky tw*ts As for the Jo-ann Campbell, got my first U.S. copy a few years ago...remember mentioning to Roger Banks who looked at me in disbelief when I mentioned artists name Missed a U.K. one on ebay about 18 months ago...think it only fetched about £6 but I forgot to bid. Was selling them on U.S. for about £25 - £40 last year, so probably did only bid about £20 on a U.K. one. Anyway Mik lad...stop nosying at what I am up to on ebay...can't expect you to stay far enough behind me if you keep peeping at my bids...
  24. Two points about this post that made me smile.... First, that you would let anybody know that you once had a pink scooter... Secondly, that at the end of your list of weapons to be thrown at your Pink Vespa, you list... 'Bricks, broken bottles, and sticks' Wondered if this was deliberate, or were you playing owt by Dean Parrish as you typed this...
