Not sure if this has already been posted on Soul Source, but Shane also posted this on FB recently regards the funeral... "Had another good chat with Becky earlier. She was keen for me to advise everyone that she would be really pleased to see a few Hawaiian shirts at Joe's funeral. We all know Joe was known to have a few himself! She also added that people do not have to worry about what they wear. Come as you are basically. It's totally up to you. ... Thanks Shane."

Not sure yet, but he was apparently admitted into hospital a week earlier in the States with lung complications, but then had the rest of his holiday in the US before arriving home the weekend that he sadly passed.....

I only said 50% of the time mind.....
-
The first few years I was on ebay (on dreaded dial-up, and when you could openly see other bidders IDs) I regularly lost 50% or so of my bids to 'Chubbychops' who I later found out to be Joe Dutton....

Absolutely gutted.....had some great times with Joe over the years, but especially the last year or so when over Sheffield for the King Bee nights, sharing a fair amount of real ales in the afternoon on Kelham Island. We had similar tastes in music, humour and beer, and I will miss him so very much. Condolences to Becky and Joes family, my thoughts and prayers are with you all. Sleep well big fella, no doubt you'll have me a pint of IPA pulled ready for when I join you on the other side.

I've got one going up on my next website update at £350 Pete, nice copy with some slight label stain...if it was mint I'd have thought £400 was about its money nowadays. (...and no, I didn't get it from some dodgy geezer from Wolverhampton Royal Mail sorting office before anyone asks!). :o)

First of a few tasty updates on my website coming your way....lots of fresh 45s just in! https://rhythm-and-soul45s.com/ourshop/cat_870788-NEW-STOCK-45s-ALL-GENRES-.html

Its just another way of getting out of paying up......though Im about to send Royal Mail an email questioning this in light of the fact that they also only like to pay the seller their cost price of missing/damaged goods rather than the full selling price. If this is the case, then if I buy a record for £50, then sell it for £100, the insurance will only cover me for my purchase cost of £50....so why send it Special Delivery insured to £100 if all they are willing to pay out is the actual £50 cost (to me) value. For anyone who hasn't seen my rant on FB, I've had a recorded package go missing this week with an unreadable receipt signature that looks like spider scrawl (attached pic of signature below).... but RM say that is proof enough of delivery ........ also an International Signed and Tracked package with a value of £160 that has been returned from Portugal 12 weeks ago via Belfast and has now been sat in a Sheffield (????) processing centre for over 3 weeks.....they have said I might have to claim but don't want proof of how much I sold the records for, but rather how much I pad for them. W**kers .... end of script! Below is apparently an acceptable signature of receipt...... !
-
Recorded delivery is basically standard mail with a signature at delivery point. If you send a record which cost £51 (or more)via recorded and it's gets damaged or lost you won't get £50 back, you get nothing, as RM can insist you underinsured your package which negates their insurance obligation. Special delivery is sent via a different and more secure process than recorded, and insures up to £500....yet buyers still prefer to risk a £100 record loss by paying for recorded delivery cus ultimately, if anything goes wrong they will claim their loss back via PayPal and the seller is then left out of pocket.
-
Why do folk constantly send records worth more than £50 via recorded delivery. I'm led to believe if you send a package underinsured Royal Mail won't pay out a penny if it gets lost or damaged.

Obviously not a big money record, but never had a promo before and can only see one copy on Popsike....is it a lot rarer than the issue and is value any different? Also was there ever a promo boot? Thanks Mace

Hmmm, I find they sell for about the same, probably cus UK Sue 45s have always been desirable to the mod scene as well as UK Soul label collectors....on saying that, £75 should be its money imo.....in fact, there just happens to be one sat on my site at that very price (link below)....obviously Google must have been broken when JMs bidders were pushing his copy up to £130! https://rhythm-and-soul45s.com/ourshop/prod_3750702-Harold-Burrage-Ill-take-one-UK-Sue-Ex.html

Mace replied to Realpeoplesmusic's topic in Record Wants
Ha ha...'wallets at dawn' gentlemen..... -
The Northern Soul nest is full of cuckoos from many genres....probably more pop cuckoos in there than R&B ones. I'd actually rather not hear overplayed R&B records at Northern events cus they've usually had their day years ago an the R&B scene..... Little Willie John 'Im shakin' was already well overplayed 5+ years ago as a £30 record on the R&B scene never mind as £100 record on the Northern Scene nowadays....along with 'Somebody's always trying' and 'My baby likes to boogaloo' etc etc etc Still great tunes in their own right, but you're welcome to have 'em, love or loathe 'em in the Northern Oldies venues IMO.

Wonder how many copies of his similar titled ABC release will get mopped in error up off ebay now it's seems to have regained popularity?
-
Good luck to you Darren if you can get those prices, I just don't see this record as more than a £75 record in mint condition. Then again, nothing surprises me much with record prices nowadays.
-
I suppose the true mark of what it's worth will be proved by how long Steve Hiscocks copy sits on his site @ £50. If it is indeed worth £100+ it should surely fly out off the back of this thread alone???

I recently sold a Ex- promo copy off my website for £40.....some writing on label (see link below) Been sat on my site for at least 5 months at that price, and shows at top of second page on a google search. It actually sold on the same day that this want was posted. Sometimes Google is all it takes..... https://rhythm-and-soul45s.com/ourshop/prod_3581147-Lloyd-Price-Oh-lady-luck-Monument-Ex-swol.html

Yup, font on PG copy doesn't look right at all.....
