  1. I usually use a pre-amped mixer, with a audio-minijack lead (into p.c. line in) and Audiograbber software (free download)...works a treat and mixer gives all options of adjusting bass, treble etc. Tried it on mic input but sound quality was never as good, but now have a laptop with no line-in option so gotta use mic in...presuming quality will be affected? Will have to try it out next week....... Incidentally, I set up a USB deck for someone a few weeks ago, but after recording the files have to be converted afterwards (think Baz said this earlier?) However, if you download Audiograbber, you can record them direct from USB deck into Audiograbber and are compatible for burning down to CD straight away in Nero etc.
  2. Marve Josie is a great double sider (though I actually prefer flip 'You lied') and well worth £150. Would snap it up meself if I hadn't already got it
  3. Might not be as 'instant' as Sweet Memories, but still a quality tune that would probably sound 10 times better over a big sound system in a club. Don't really think any tune should be dismissed or disregarded cus it ain't seen to be as good as 'his/her/their other one'.......surely that attitude would take us back to the Top 500 only mentality?????
  4. Quite good, but I still prefer Sammy Ambrose version as well. Bought an answer song version by Wendy Hill on Liberty a few weeks ago but is was too poppy/teeny so got rid.
  5. Sure Nick Brown has a Shrine 45 that he picked up off the floor at a nighter in 3 pieces (maybe Stafford) and he glued it on top of an old worthless 45 and it plays fine..... Got a tiny edge crack on my George Blackwell that doesn't affect play as it doesn't reach the grooves, a C shaped crack on Jimmy McFarland that runs from middle of play grooves to label and has been glued on flip and a snapped Baby Washington 'Leave me alone' that is taped on back but plays fine (keep selling any spares I pick up, so waiting till I get stuck with a good copy ) Reminds me, I once had a 'Leave me alone' with a chunk missing out of outer edge, it just missed run in groove so I slapped it on the grinder and ground it even all the way round, polished the edge and flogged it for a few beers....it ended up just over 6 inches in diameter, and must have been a tw*t to cue up as it kicked straight in....
  6. ...only cus you didn't know any of the others... Anyway, got a red issue in Ex condition for sale....£20 with free postage to anyone interested. (Can't remember how much you paid....but hope that's cheaper than the one I sold you Mark... )
  7. As pointed out, I can't understand the end difference between using a snipe programme or sitting there at 4 a.m. and manually entering your max bid 6 secs from auction end. I first started using snipe programmes when I was still on dial up as I was forever losing items cus the auction page froze or wouldn't refresh quick enough. Too many bidders put early bids on stuff, which always pushes the price up....I've also had plenty of 'mates' put early bids on items then email me to say they have seen it first, and asking not to snipe or bid against them....what's all that about? I sometimes place my snipes on the day the item is listed...I bid my max amount and forget about it....I either win it or not....no bidding frenzy, no early morning rises to place bids, no forgetting about auction, no worries who else bids on it.....job done I've even had 'mates' email me after auction end to have a pop for outbidding them, even though my snipe was placed days before they manually placed their bid!!!! To be honest, I don't care how anyone else uses ebay, and how much they bid....their business, their choice. If you want it so bad then always enter your absolute max bid....end off. As for snipers always getting bargains....imagine what happens if 2 bidders snipe the same item for lot's more than its worth cus they both want it so bad....the winners gonna get stung big time....so it's all about being sensible about deciding what your max bid will be. As also mentioned, its very rare to actually lose an auction by £1 or whatever the min bid increment actually is, chances are the winner has bid lots more than he actually ends up paying on his winning snipe, he just happens to have chosen a higher max bid then you so he wins it, fair and square like any other auction.....
  8. Mark did you have an issue or demo off me a few years back? Sure I've got another copy somewhere....what's current value for normal issues/demos?
  9. It is the same tune, quite hard to find.....and it's terrible ....don't go there... Midniters version is great
  10. Only cus he's deaf as a post.....
  11. Thought it had a very similar feel to 'I need to fall in love' actually.....which I still have a spare copy (45) of in anyone wants one
  12. Steve, IJCTIAL only goes for about £40, and quite often appears on ebay for $25 or so. Love this L.P. track Martin, great stuff! Deffo no 45 release I presume (don't do LPs... )
  13. Used this method myself, have to lay the disc in middle of opened cookbook or like (big heavy job) and circulate hairdryer on low heat setting at a consistant speed so the heat is not concentrated in one area. As the vinyl softens, close book and add more weight to top and leave to cool
  14. Do a search on here, this thread pops up every few months. Brewery is co-owned by a soulie called Col Stubbs from Winsford, and is on the Chester Road, near Sandiway Northwich Cheshire. he's a great guy with a great taste in music (& beer!) You can visit the brewery, and they were in the process of setting up a bar area to sample the beers when I dropped a record off for Col a few months back. Also had loads of the old pump badges, so you may be able to buy/blag a few...I blagged 'em of course...
  15. Sure there is another version of this....by The Four ?????...somethings or others, can't remember group name and never head it, but it's supposed to be good. Her best 45 has gotta be 'He tells me with his eyes' on Philips, quite hard to find, also covered by Patsy Ann Noble.
  16. Hi Russ, my old white demo of Jesse James was same label design as Lindas above your scan. Never seen your label design before. Anyone else?
  17. Jesse James is quite a hard one....at least £75 - £100. Had a demo about 2 years ago, not had another one since.
  18. Nice tune, I recently found a cheap one on a website. Carl Willingham has a French e.p. I believe (no surprise there then ) Also believe it came out on a Canadian label?
  19. Mace

    Marva Josie

...and equally good flipside 'You lied' to boot....
  20. A nice Canadian copy went for a reasonable price on ebay tonight.... https://cgi.ebay.com/ws/eBayISAPI.dll?ViewI...em=220081590219
  21. They also did a nice track called 'Give me back your love' on Colpix
  22. 20 bon bons (lemon) or thereabouts
  23. ...or the memories of Ted giving me a tape thinking it was sales tape, when it actually had all your latest wants on it....
