  1. Any chance of posting a list of the record labels, as I suspect most probably wouldn't realise owt was missing for a while? Least that way it could jog somebodies memory (unless they are on obscure one off labels of course...wouldn't want you to be inundated with a load of chancers making false claims )

They will be apearing live at The Brookfields Club (The Stables) just off M6 J11, Wolverhampton on Saturday 26th January. Tickets are available from New Century Soul via website below. www.newcenturysoul.co.uk Believe they are selling well, so I wouldn't hang around as think numbers are restricted to 380 max or thereabouts. Hope this helps Regards Mace
  3. ......I wouldn't quote the part about 'the legendary Torch club (Hanley)' if it need to be factual tho
  4. Not many on Dec 22nd though Plug plug....
  5. That stutters getting worse Joe

I had an issue which I sold for £100 a few weeks back. Tis harder than the promo mind.
  7. At the Stafford reunion in Burslem a few years ago we had to have 10 doormen throughout the night. Door bill alone was over £1200+ If they do insist on you increasing the amount of doorstaff your hire, then try and sort it so the extra body is only working the hours necessary (ie 11 p.m. - 3 a.m.) when your venue is at it's busiest, and when there is more chance of any local knobheads trying to get in.
  8. .....but if they run the risk of hassle from stopping pissheads getting in from off the street and working unsociable hours (especially at allnighters) then it ain't that great a wage. If your boss asked you to work all Saturday night and risk getting the odd slap from a pisshead for £15 an hour I bet you'd tell him/her bollox
  9. Just seen this on ebay....
  10. The whole shebang...but not one of mention of latin....absolutely disgraceful
  11. Up for grabs... Sugar Boy Williams 'Little Girl' on Herald 555 in Excellent condition. Monster R&B floorpacker. NOW SOLD.....thanks for looking regards Mace
  12. I've got a Tommy Jay 45 on the M.O.C. label (bought blind and in the junk pile )
  13. You could say that about any cover version of any track though Rowly. Including 60s British covers of U.S. blues and R&B tracks. It might encourage someone to buy her next/current CD and that could contain some quality original tracks for all I/we know? Plus, there's no way the Etta James version will be getting the airplays that this might get over forthcoming months.....but it could well get more exposure in the long run because of it.
  14. Totally agree with this post, surely it's better that decent covers such as this are hitting the charts etc rather than the usual drivel.....not sure the youngsters who hear it will take it any further, but some might just seek out Ettas original version and other titles by her, and that's got to be a positive thing imo. Coupled with the Sharon Jones '100 days 100 nights' track below, I think I might have to change my opinion on modern soul

You know that I hate to disagree with you Chalks .....but shouldn't quality and rarity dictate price rather than rarity alone.....a shit tune is a shit tune regardless of rarity. We may have varied taste (thank fcuk ) but I think the majority can recognise a quality tune, and if its rare to boot then the value will inevitably increase. Agreed that a dancefloor packer will attract more potential buyers (DJs etc) and will therefore push the price up somewhat, but on genuinely rare quality tunes I think the value would usually still reach a similar figure with or without the dancefloor reaction.
  16. I've got a spare copy if you are looking for one
  17. Pretty sure a few of us went up to the Carlton club on scooters from Stoke many moons ago. Seem to remember the 2 flight of stairs and pictures or posters of soul artists on the walls (this sticks in my mind as I'm sure I can remember one of Herbie Goins & The Nightimers amongst them)? Mace
  18. Already got it.....but astounded that anyone has paid £250 for it. But if its supposedly going for that kind of money it might be time to get rid.........
  19. Keith, does this mean it sold for £250 or was listed at £250? Surely no-one paid £250 for a copy of this
  20. Keep trying it mate - I thought it was really helpful. I had 3 negs removed when I first started selling on ebay....had a transaction dispute with some prick and he created a new ID and put over the top high bids on 3 items I was selling on ebay at the time. Day after he won them he posted neg feedback even though he'd never paid (obviously never intended to), but he'd also done it on a few other sellers and I sussed him out, contacted other sellers and we all contacted ebay...they removed the negs after a couple of weeks. Beauty of it all was I offered the items to second highest bidders and they all bought them even though prices were high...seem to remember a copy of Lou Johnson Unsatisfied on blue Bigtop went for about £70!!! Fall in a sewer and come out wearing a gold watch me...
  21. Pete, there is a LIVE CHAT facility on ebay.com which works like an Instant messaging system. Used it when I had a prob with logging on and they were really helpful and quick at resolving my probs...saves waiting 3 days for an automated email response! I posted a link to the live chat facility on a thread on here about probs with logging onto ebay due to 'third parties' accessing accounts (which seemed to be due to esnipe). Ain't got it too hand but let me know if you're struggling as I'll try and get it for ya. Regards Mace

....think one of those was the copy I have....I remember paying around £250 so presume it was the £263 one.

  25. I'll ask him, but I doubt if he can remember what he did last friday, never mind what he played over 4 weeks ago mate...he is getting on a bit nowadays Only £130 for 'Return to Spanish Harlem' Cheapskate...I'll pay £135.....
