  1. Baz, get yerself down to Bidds allnighter on May 23rd and you'll hear some quality, obscure latin tunes, all mixed in with Northern, R&B and allsorts Sorry...blatant plugging
  2. ALWAYS keep the Fania FFS. 'Magic Rose' was released on Uptite as Naatab...can't remember flip though cus I sold both copies of the Uptite and kept the Fania .....will have to check in case it's 'I'm satisfied' 2 sider on issue?
  3. I've got it......so does Des Parker (cus I bagged a spare) Andy Dysons blinding c/u that is packing dancefloors on the Northern and R&B scenes, not to mention the Mod Scene when I spin it at the Pow Wow Club in April Gonna be the biggest record of 2009 in my opinion
  4. Well I've had 3 copies through me hands.....

    Uk Wants

Dennis, what you looking to pay for the Johnny Nash? Got one knocking about that I might let go. Regards Mace
  6. I think the majority ( and let's not kid ourselves...it is the majority unfortunately) just reach a certain 'comfort zone' and are more than happy with their lot, so to speak. It bemuses me however, when these people slate off Rare Soul, unknown tracks etc...because they MUST have originally been listening to, dancing to, and happily accepting unknown, obscure soul records. Why they feel the need to critisize people still chasing those new sounds for doing something they must have done themselves in the past is a bit of a mindfcuk. Bizzare really...... Johnny Beggs told me that a well known Oldies DJ used to critisize a lot of the stuff played at the Raven Hotel in Whitchurch many years back.....the same DJ recently mentioned to Beggsy that all those tunes he used to moan about are now big well known classics, many classed as oldies.......ironic really
  7. There always seems to be plenty in Bidds who enjoy it (soulies not mods btw) Perhaps we should all be more openminded and a little less blinkered....
  8. A while ago...it was probably 20 years ago. It was on Invictus, that's all I remember. Couldn't have been that good if you can't remember it
  9. I think your somewhat tiresome views on 'crappy rare shit' cloud what could otherwise be a constructive post. If youngsters don't know the tune, it matters not on rarity or obscurity, but moreso on tempo and danceability of a tune....they don't know the tune anyway, so it's always gonna be 'what's in the groove that counts'. Whether that be classic motown, overplayed oldie, rare unknown, Northern, R&B or even godforbid Latin. If its an uptempo tune that is infectious enough youngsters will dance. Your example of Troy Dodds could be swapped with Diana Ross's 'Stormy' and the same lemon sucking theory would hold true. Do you really believe that every old Motown or Eddie Floyd single would have a positive dancefloor reaction for youngsters, where every rare, obscure, or virtually unknown one would not. I'd love to be able get 600 youngsters with no knowledge of 60s/70s soul into Kingshall and show just how wrong you are.....
  10. Beginning to sound like Dave Evisons playbox....
  11. Would you take trades on the sick green one?
  12. What condition is the box in?
  13. One finished on ebay last night. https://cgi.ebay.com/ws/eBayISAPI.dll?ViewI...em=190284441163 Sells for the flip 'Do the beatle', is the other side any good? Quite a hard 45 to find, expect to pay £100+ for a VG+ copy
  14. Not sure Micheal, send me a soundfile of Five Du-tones and I'll let you know. I'm hopeless at posting tunes up...can any kind soul post up Sammy Ambrose 'Monkey see-monkey do' for Michael?
  15. Sorry mate, but as I've already got it I don't give a shite
  16. Impossibly rare on London I'd say, being as it came out on U.K. Stateside There's a great R&B flip on 'Dreamsville' as well (Monkey see, monkey do) that's started getting reactivated spins on the Mod/R&B scenes recently, and will no doubt increase it's current value with the Northern and R&B collectors chasing it for different sides.
  17. I believe the Jan 15th flight 1549 New York to Charlotte , North Carolina, played Marlena Shaws 'Wade in the water' and Jackie Shanes 'Comin' down' during their brief, yet bumpy flight. More soul tunes were apparently due to be aired (unlike the plane) (before anyone has a moan, we all know everyone survived, so I'm joking about a miracle, not a disaster)
  18. Thought rentboys could sell their ar$e in any weather, but obviously not
  19. Davie, did you have your copy off me in trades? I had one a while back but can't remember what I did with it. Never had another since
  20. Comes up now and again.....
  21. I was kinda expecting your reply to be enquiring if I found this by searching for soul records or viagra
  22. https://cgi.ebay.com/CHARLES-WILSON-VIAGRA-...A1%7C240%3A1318 Or a hard on....?
