  14. Not wanting to p*ss on your chips fellas, but Alberquerque is popular amongst Popcorn collectors, so unless the different flip is a pretty good track, the earlier release, although rarer, might not be as valuable as the later release due to demand only being from the Northern Scene (though I may well be talking out of my arse as I suspect most Popcorn collectors would be priced out the market by the price tag the flipside commands on the Northern scene) https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=7h9ktMUyyG8
  15. You love it really, I saw you tapping your foot so hard to Monguito Santa-Maria recently that your earplugs kept dropping out...
  16. OI ! Sorry for shouting....thought you might have yer plugs in! I'm not as bad as Roger am I.....! Anyway, I always thought you were just ignoring me.....though I did see something in your ear once, but Johnny Weston told me that's where you kept your chewing gum when it lost it's flavour
  17. Red vinyl is on Carlton and goes for £40 - £50. Was apparently pressed up in the 70s but for the R&R or Doowop market. Probably a run of 500 pressed max. Flip is a doowop tune by the Strollers that was actually released on the original Carlton, so kinda presume that was the 'main' side. It's quite hard to find, but when it does turn up, like buses, there's normally a few of 'em (Craig Moerer had a handful a few years back) Original is on Glad-Hamp (Lionel Hamptons label) Goes for £150+ nowadays...did go for a lot more when first started getting spins. Also a European (Spanish?) E.P on Vegara. This is a 4 track Lionel Hampton E.P that features the Anna Belle Caesar 'Little Annie' track Goes for around £150 - £200 with pic sleeve.
  18. No, not a fact at all. Are you therefore saying that MOST the records you now regard as quality classics, originally played as newies/unknowns at Northern Soul events from those glorious days of old, were known to you prior to been played at such NS events? This comment never ceases to amaze me.....surely the whole scene was founded on obscure/unknown records?
  19. I've used Aradite Rapid before. Mix the two parts together and add a tiny amount of black ink from a biro (remove the plastic ink tube and cut it below ink level and squeeze a tiny amount out.) The ink seems to slow the setting time down (hence using Araldite rapid instead of normal set) Too much ink may prevent it setting altogether. Best experiment on an old 45 to gauge how much ink and how long it takes to set. Apply in tiny amounts...it spreads and fills out more than you would think. It sets with a glossy appearence of vinyl, though not necessary perfectly flat. Be careful as it may run slightly as it sets, so try to position record in a suitable position whilst it semi-sets. Leave for at least a day to ensure no tackiness...you don't wanna be putting it in a sleeve if it ain't set properly Tomorrow I will be giving a lecture on how to make a flight box out of an old rabbit hutch...hope you can join us
  20. Quite hard to find either of his U.K. Pye releases, though I have had U.K. demos and issues of both in the past ....they go for a tidy £80 - £100+ nowadays. You've got more chance of picking up his 4 track French Disques Vogue 'Le Boogaloo' E.P. which has 'I'm gonna make it baby' on (presuming you want the UK Pye 45 for this side as it's the better track?) The French E.P. doesn't have Shotgun Boo-Ga-Loo on it, but does have the excellent 'It's Boogaloo time' which never got a U.K. 45 release. His version of 'At the Party' b/w 'No no no' also got a release on French Disques Vogue...both come with excellent pic sleeves Regards Mace
