  1. That sleeve is a portion cut from the pic sleev to the album 'King of the Boogaloo' Would like to see label design if you could send me a scan Pretty sure my European (French Vogue?) 7" copy of 'No, no, no / At the party' uses same/similar sleeve design. Would have to dig it out to check. Doesn't the Bluebell release only have DM Boogaloo on flip? The French Vogue E.P. has the bonus of having 'It's boogaloo time' on as well, which is another great track and as far as I'm aware, only had a 7" release on this E.P and on Argentinas Music Hall label (2 track 33rpm)
  2. Yup, it's 4 track E.P with "I'm gonna make it baby", "Here comes Pete", "It's boogaloo time", "D.M. Boogaloo" P.M. me if interested.
  3. Now there's a name I haven't heard for a long time. Sorry to be off-topic but has anyone got a contact for Dave Darlow? I remember he used to hammer 'Chinatown' so much that some-one adapted a cartoon strip of his lookalike Roger Mellie from Viz walking around with a record box that had 'Victor Knight Box Set' written on it
  4. I've got a spare on the French Vogue E.P. with the excellent 'It's boogaloo time', and a cool pic sleeve if you want to make me an offer Also had it on U.K. promo a while back, but let it go when I got my copy of this E.P.
  5. I'd have personally thought that £400 - £500 for BV was a fair price nowadays. However, most who already own it don't seem to want to sell it at that price.....nor have hundereds suddenly flooded on the market with the recent auction prices. So if those that have it don't want to sell it, and plenty of others want to buy it....then this becomes it's current true value. Simple supply and demand. Warren recently stated that he would willingly sell his for a grand. Interested to know if he has sold it, or offered it up cus I bet his heart strings keep telling him not I wouldn't sell mine for £1000, and I ain't bothered if it drops back to £300 in 6 months time, and if I needed the money I'd sell plenty of other stuff first It's always gonna be top quality Latin boogaloo, regardless of how many times it has been played on the Northern/Mod scenes in the last 20+years.
  6. Seconded. Think the Frank Cherval is 'orrible to be honest Vocals are far too twee and teeny. I remember Nige Shaw trying to palm one off to me at Hednesford, many moons ago. Didn't have a player with us at the time, and he told me it was a great version. Needless to say it went straight back to him the following week
  7. Victor Knight - Chinatown - Ron-Cris (original) Ex- Condition - £140 Free shipping (fully insured).
  8. https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=WajgprrpWlY Got a nice Ex copy for £30 if anyone wants one.
  9. Well he has sold a few records lately so maybe he'll do you a good price on a shirt and and a pair of trousers I have a sneaky feeling Mr Bicknell knew exactly what he was doing when he started this thread.... Right, I'm off to bed.
  10. Just cus I love a bit of Latin don't mean I wanna speak it (Ya big poncy show-off)
  11. Not really. Telling a credible DJ such as Rob Smith to play what he wants doesn't mean he will lose all common sense on how to put a great set together and just play random tunes regardless of genre and tempo. It means that DJs like Rob get to play stuff they rarely get the chance to play. It means that you don't have to stick to the tried and tested tunes or let the dancefloor reaction govern what you play. It also gives the dancers a chance to decide if they like a tune or not, instead of spoonfeeding them the same old same old....surely that must be the laziest way to DJ? As for confusing advertising music policies, I don't think I can be any clearer with what we offer and deliver at Bidds.
  12. Maybe it's me, but it always seems to be the other way around, those who only want oldies slagging off the rare/obscure/upfront/unknown stuff as second rate 'B' sides / only rare cus no-one bought it in the first place etc etc etc. Everybody who I know who is into hearing different stuff (whether it's Rare/newies/R&B etc) seem content to just crack on with what they are doing I can attend oldies events from time to time and enjoy them for what they are. I still have plenty of Northern Oldies in my collection and love them as much today as the first time I heard them....I just don't want to hear them everytime I go out. Exactly the same goes for my passion for R&B and Latin. We are all made of different stuff, and we all like different stuff. It's what has made this scene as vibrant, passionate and varied as it is. Of course the socialising and atmosphere is enhanced by greater numbers, and the Rare Soul scene is definately a minority compared with the Oldies scene. It just seems (to me at least) that the latter is more bothered about numbers than the former....when it really should be about the music....otherwise, what scene is there?
  13. Chris, if I remember correctly you came to Bidds about 2 years ago. You seemed to hate everything about it, left relatively early (2 o'clock) and posted a lookback using bizarre descriptions such as "neo-doowop" after the event. You have since managed to bring this up every time there is a discussion on rare/upfront events. I don't even know why you attended in the first place as you clearly only want 100% known oldies all night. I personally don't set my stall out for Bidds by how many people are on the dancefloor at any one time. The night is geared towards obscure uptempo 6ts soul, R&B and latin dancers....but we don't set any bounderies. Some tunes work, some don't.....the whole point of the night is to try them out. Rob Smith has DJed there for me on a number of occasions. The first time he asked me what I expected him to play. I told him to play whatever the fcuk he wanted to. He then asked if he should play to the dancefloor...so I told him not to worry about the dancefloor and to play whatever he wanted....again, the whole point of the night. He loves the place and comes everytime, even if he is DJing at other nighters first. That's what it's about (for me) at least, not as though I need to explain myself. I don't honestly care if some people don't like what we do, there is more than enough overplayed oldies event on the calender to cater for these people. We will never have a full house on a regular basis, I know that. I could run it as an oldies nighter and fill it easily and make a shed load of profit, but I don't chose to. Que sera sera....... As I said after your initial lookback, thanks for coming along and giving us a go, and it's a shame that you didn't enjoy it. However, we have always clearly advertised our music policy, and I have always been 'upfront' about the venue and it's facilities, so I don't feel I need to add any more than that. Regards Mace
  14. I've been advised to use 'butt-plugs' a few times , will Spec-savers also be able to test if I definately need to Thinks it's more of an 'exhaust' issue, rather than an 'intake' one mind

    huh

Didn't Manship recently get £1000 or thereabouts for a copy. That latest ebay copy was VG with audible clicks and went for $1200, with the three top bidders over $900. ...and Hermann, even though you eventually persuaded me to part with Gil Bernal, I'm deffo not parting with this
  16. Reads more like an advert for The Holiday Inn 'Upside down' Package than a celebration of Soul in Stoke. A brief mention of the Torch & Kings Hall but absolutely none of other key venues such as Keele, Trentham Gardens. Still nice to see John O'Brien get a mention though....R.I.P. mate.
  17. Perhaps the first part of this statement has quite a lot to do with the second
  18. Full info on link below...
  19. I'm guessing a deffo no, cus I bought one off him a short while back. The £25 one was on Shiftys list. He told me afterwards it was in pretty rough condition but I think he fcuked up and won't admit it
  20. Very tuff to find, and £300 would be about right. Ted and Linda Couldstone used to sell it for around £30 many moons ago
  21. It's on Youtube, but you probably can't find it cus you've spelt Conner wrong. Mediocre popcorn 45 that used to go for around £70, but probably more like £40 nowadays.
  22. Hey bollox, I've still got all my hair.... Oh, and though he won't admit it, Beggsy has a small bald spot starting at the back of his head.....you can see it everytime he turns to face the back of the stage whilst giving it large on the mic Now, to save you spending all night arguing the toss about fcuk all, and in doing so, wasting a good dose of topomax, take the following advice and then off to bed young man...(plus Mr.Wiggyflat can have a good old singalongabedtime... ) https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=I2gw6S_K8Tk
