  1. You're more than welcome....get diggin' !
  2. Sounds Of FM - Adolescents Theme (45 version) Dog rare on 45 (Mexican). I've not heard LP version but believe it's not as good. You can hear it on Mik Parrys mix on Jester Wild Show below (first track). https://www.jesterwil...-2011&Itemid=36
  3. ........"these reissues are getting thin now - not many around." Well they've always been thin, and most are usually round
  4. Wonder who chose the pic of the train for the label.......looks like clip-art from a ZX81
  5. T'was actually the 'Northern Cowboys'.....they did some great p*sstake flyers. Beggsy compiled a Northern Cowboys CD which included a small booklet that had lots of the flyers in it. Got a copy somewhere, will have to dig it out and post up some scans. Will have to remember to ask him when they took over, though he is knocking on a bit now so his memory ain't what it used to be....especially when it come to remembering it's his turn to the bar
  6. I first heard Quicksand at Jim Bates (Platters81) nigh on 25 years ago. I mithered him for months to sell it to me and eventually he caved and let me have it....still got it now, and still love the track as much as ever. R.I.P Kell.
  7. Needless to say, Shame has it's own coat hook in my house.......
  8. Not sure circa 79 as I was only 11 so couldn't get in Will ask Beggsy at the pub on Thursday night who did what when at the Bear.
  9. Please don't publish photos... I have vague memories of an 'I love London' type Tshirt and a tie that was about 10ft long.......and I'd rather keep them vague
  10. The soul events at the Princess Suite were usually in the back rooms from what I recall. They still had a massive cabaret room at the front of the building for the Chicken in Baskets crowd, but not sure if it was used much. Later on another room appeared somewhere off the 2 back rooms that I'd never seen before......was a much bigger venue than you'd think it was.
  11. I'm sure Keith did run some events there. Chris Burton definately did later on cus I did a few 2 room niters there with him, should imagine he had also used it prior to then though. A mate of Neil Clowes sorted me out for hiring the venue at the time but can't remember his name.... I remember he had a TV shop in Tunstall and he used to DJ round Tunstall /Burslem etc with Clowsey. Johnny Beggs and Duncan Pollet ran the do's at The Bear.
  12. PM'ed ya Sam.
  13. Alright pal, hope you're well. Don't recall going to owt when it was called Jollies, pretty sure it was renamed The Princess Suite by the time I was knocking about. I ran a Mod Allnighter there, as well as having my 18th there (1986).....also co-promoted a few R&B Allnighters there with Chris Burton just before his Dells gig @ Trentham Gardens.
  14. It's a lie.....there was no dragging required! Actually, I never was into King Kurt / Meteors etc though most of Pool Dam S.C. who I used to knock about with were....I was more into the mod scene than the scooterist thing. Coincidentally, when Twangy asks me about various R&B records we used to play on the Mod scene in the late 80s, I consistantly remind him he wasted too many years listening to that shite instead of getting into proper music at an early age.
  15. Yup, I also remember an alldayer at the same venue that resulted in a massive brawl between local Mods, Scooterboys and Skinheads....
  16. The 2 scans linked above on this thread are definately different records, the green background behind the TRI on the Nov auction is not printed all the way to the centre hole, whereas the Jan one is. If he's auctioned one a few weeks ago he's probably just reused same label scan for this recent auction.
  17. Now I've read link, the facts seem to be as I suggested, though obviously only for recording made 1962 and onwards (as of 2012) Sound Recordings and broadcasts 50 years from the end of the calendar year in which the work was created, or, if the work is released within that time: 50 years from the end of the calendar year in which the work was first released.
  18. Not read your link yet Joe, so might confirm this, but I believe the 50 year law is dated from first official release, not the recording date. For example, Billy & The Moonlighters 'Little Indian Girl' was first officially released in something like 1977, even though its(presumably) an early 60s recording...so it's protected by the 50 year law until 2027. So any unreleased 60s tracks that are legally released now would be covered until 2062......can anyone confirm if this is correct?
  19. The only solution is to cover the more obscure ones up. A cover-up a day keeps the booters at bay (for a while longer at least)
  20. I'd rather the lookalike ones remain that way to be honest. I can't see them ever becoming any more credible, at least I'd hope not......they are still fakes at the end of the day.
  21. As far as the boots are concerned, I presume most are produced as cheap as possible to maximise any profit from their £6 price tag (probably £3 wholesale). Also, I imagine some recordings of certain tracks probably come from dubious sources, especially rarer oddball stuff. The end result......you pay peanuts you get monkeys!
  22. Is that posh for 'Ta la'
  23. Think it was Mojo who auctioned the one that went for $70.....I'd had one for sale at £20 or thereabouts at the time (that's as much as it ever seemed to go for previously) and when Chris heard it he picked a copy up cheap and listed it on ebay...he was very happy with the result . Des Parker had also got a copy in his sales box for £10 - £15 at the time....you really need to start digging in boxes at nighters again instead of posting wants up on here
  24. Whats this going for nowadays? Used to be a £20 record but I know one went for quite a bit more on ebay last year. Not got a spare sorry......just wondering what price it's fetching.
  25. No comment.....
