  1. To be honest, I'm way past worrying about boots nowadays, though I'd rather them not look identical with same flips cus some-one might just get mugged for a coin or two on t'internet......I know Jesse well and he's a nice guy, and certainly won't put them out as originals, but there's always some Cnut who might further down the line.....in fact we are supposed to be meeting up in the New Year at a friends house to play a few tunes....suffice to say I won't be taking my Ray Agee and a tape recorder to the meet ! ;o)
  2. Maybe Bob....but there's so many better soul myths....like hearing Andy Dyson didn't rub his head more than once at the last Lifeline, or Butch was seen smiling twice in any 2 consecutive weekends......or Kev Roberts has a 666 scar under his toupee..... Okay, we all know these are highly unbelievable, especially as Kevs hair looks way too real to be a syrup..... ;o)
  3. Not at all Phil, just my twisted sense of humour. Think about it.....now rumoured as an early bootleg that was supposedly incorrectly credited as Ray Agee (who can't remember singing it despite sounding exactly like him)..... then covered up as James Conwell and first played by Searling....or Rushbrooke.....or Raistrick....and obviously soon to be re-booted once high res scans and flip side sound files have been successfully sourced from Soul Source members who will then complain bitterly when it's all over eBay for £6.99. Its like a bad Fawlty Towers script........ .....my humour merely reflects this whole car crash of a thread..... ;o)
  4. Only worth looking for if your deck (or the decks you DJ on) have got the facility to pitch at -28. Tim Brown told me Quinvy once had one but couldn't remember what he did with it.
  5. It's actually Donnie Elbert pitched down at -28 and originally pressed on Rumoursville Records. I know this for a fact cus I read it on www-letstalkbollix.co.fantasyisland
  6. Another lookalike on its way then.....though would have thought this was still within the 50 year rule.....when was it released?
  7. I've been told that if item is worth more than £20 you wouldn't get a penny back as you should take extra insurance to cover full value. You are supposed to prove how much you paid for the item when claiming...so this could be classed as underinsured at standard £20 cover via Royal Mail, and this invalid for any basic cover. Don't know how true this is, but sounds quite likely....
  8. Sound files are on listing....
  9. Interesting point regards unreleased material..... As far as released material, is it correct that the rule applies to the last legitimate date of release....so if a track that was originally recorded and released in 1963 was also legally reissued in 1980, then 1980 is the datum point to commence the legal copyright ? Think it's a straight 50 years for released US tracks but might be wrong.....presume similar laws protect US unreleased tracks?
  10. Rainbow....what rainbow....? Just thought they sounded similar Ian, though if I'm honest I thought my choice just edged it ! ;o)
  11. SNAP ! https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=tLfQUnXdUj8
  12. Put it back on ebay with the snide labels pulled off....you'll probably turn a profit the way ebay pans out on boots and reissues nowadays... ;o)
  13. Well naughty......hope you sort it out pal, though can't see any reason why you won't get a refund....even main description states as 'Hem Records'....
  14. Give over Terry....that's you joining in at 1:38 ain't it.....? ;o)
  15. Which acetate?.....which Andy?......fascinating stuff!!!!
  16. Recently found a copy of the Magicians 45 in a box of old 45s and did a price check on Collectors Frenzy....it has sold quite a few times for decent money..$213, $202, $155, $133 as well as high double figures...so there must be some demand for it. Anyone wanting to offer an average of the above prices for my mint copy then please get in touch....discretion and confidence guaranteed! ;o)
  17. Marc's referring to the unreleased version that Johnny Beggs has been playing that knocks spots off he Grapevine release.....
  18. Delusional is the word that jumps to mind.....as a side note, and not wanting to lower myself to your standards, I think your set was mighty fine. It's of no consequence that it's 90% oldies, even after your edit (so not entirely sure if you're making it up as you go along)...it's a good strong set that was aimed as the dancefloor. Just a shame you saw fit to criticise me for doing the same.....now go wipe that egg off your face or you'll end up stinking the place out even more.....
  19. Now now Warren, one should never mistake the thickness of skin as an overcoat of humility..... Nor should you put down your coat and jumper for goalposts then take your ball home if you don't like the half time score. If you honestly see this as a victory on your behalf then I really should consider exchanging my gift of mockery for big old box o' pity...... Nice crossing swords once again... ;o) Rhinoskin Mace
  20. Ha ha ha ha ha ha.......you're a piece of work you Warren....guessed it wouldn't take long but figured on more than a week...... "Doesn't get much better than this" ...........................(Warren Wint this weekend) ".....I mean JT Parker - sick of hearing it." .................(Warren Wint last weekend) You've changed your tune (but not your tunes)....... https://www.oxforddictionaries.com/definition/english/hypocrisy
  21. Nice find, I love finding/seeing oddities like this on British that no-one seems aware of......I'd say value is probably best part of £60 - £70 for that one sided promo.... A good few years ago, I won a copy of Malcolm Dodds 'Tremble' on a UK single sided demo off ebay for pennies, and when it arrived seller had sent me the flipside demo by mistake, but after realising his mistake he sent on the proper side which gave me the pair......it does helps the sale to have both demo sides and sell as a pair, but doesn't affect value so much if you don't have it. Regards Mace
  22. There was never a nighter booked for Dec 28th, think it was added by mistake a while back including Dec 2014 (also an error) and only came to my attention this week. Bidds (now called Sutherland Community Project) is under new management and currently undergoing lots of rennovation, moreso since they were recently awarded funding of £50k from the Peoples Millions Lottery Fund. 2 new disabled toilets have already been installed in the main room. Plans are already in place for a major 2 room allnighter in April 2014.....watch this space!
  23. Massive thanks to everyone who voted....WE WON!... club has been granted £50K funding from The Peoples Millions!!!!
  24. For those unaware, Bidds, the venue I have held events at for many years, has recently come under new management and is now called 'Sutherland Community Project'. The venue has been undergoing renovation, but require extra funding, and are thus applying to The Peoples Millions for a grant to bring the venue back to a higher standard that is useable and suited to the local community.....not to mention those that frequent the venue for our allnighter soul sessions! Phone votes can be made until midnight tonight....the number is 08716268833 and costs 10p per vote and you can vote up to 10 times if you want to ;o) Their appeal film will be shown on ITV regional news at 6pm tonight for anyone who can pick it up interested. Please share this to anyone who might consider voting and making a difference......ta muchly.... More info can be found on the facebook page below.... https://www.facebook.com/SutherlandCentreBidds
