You're welcome to mate......you might want to start using 'were' instead of 'where' as well.....
-
Dunno to be honest Pete, I'd pretty much lost interest when audio tapes, magazines and Scandanavian releases got discussed, and once the word 'Spunk' got thrown into the mix I was off like a dirty shirt.....

You think its bad on here, I was on BowieSource earlier today and they were discussing Northern Soul Reissues.... ......or was I??? ;o)

Who Is Behind All These Reissues? Please Tell Me So I Can Shove
Mace replied to dthedrug's topic in All About the SOUL
Are we discussing reissues of established Northern/Rare Soul 45s or the whole broad spectrum of soul...inc R&B/instros/Rockin' Blues etc. ? I believed the thread to be about the former.....I'm well aware of club nights successfully catering for a younger audience in regards the latter... The Northern 45 reissues I believed we were discussing, are typically sold to the ageing target audience I mentioned......I can't honestly see much of that material getting played in the type of clubs mentioned....or maybe I'm wrong? -
Who Is Behind All These Reissues? Please Tell Me So I Can Shove
Mace replied to dthedrug's topic in All About the SOUL
I'd like to know who and where these youngsters are that are buying/collecting reissues & boots? The younger generation of soulies and mods that I am aware of seem to only want originals....it seems to be the older generation who want these things....though if not for DJing with at their local tea dance, or hanging on the wall to cover a dodgy bit of decorating that they can't be arsed to sort out....then for whatever reason I can't really imagine. Probably to compliment their wardrobe full of Ben Shurmans and Additof trainers.... Is there really some mysterious underground movement of teenage soulies, hell bent on collecting snides over originals......who knows.....but a fascinating theory all the same... ;o) -
I know someone with a VG+ copy that was thinking of selling.....pm what you are willing to pay and I will pass it on as don't think he is on Soul Source.....

Met the guy in CA and even visited his home.....he's a decent guy who has been dealing records for a long, long time. I presume the payment was to be made via paypal, and so although you are happy to take the risk on cheaper postage and take the hit if anything goes wrong during shipping, he may well have been burned by other buyers in the past and is thus reluctant to take the chance again. Have you suggested paying by paypal gift or bank transfer, so that he can be 100% sure you cannot attempt to reclaim funds if the 45 goes missing or gets broken in transit. I'm sure that he would be happy to ship standard post if this was the case?

Pah...Monday is a no-goer for me sorry Adey....hope its a good one for ya!

Chris, read my post #6.....not sure if you have higher level of allowance over there but for U.K. limit is now £15 and should inc postage costs (which is $12+ from US) so effectively contents of package should not exceed approx. £7 !!!! However...I just rechecked with that calculator link and seems if contents exceed $23 value + $13 post then a customs charge is added....defionately read somewhere it should inc cost of shipping but cant find that info now.....

Whereas I read there is usually 2 DJs to choose from and so you can switch over from one to the other via 2 headphone channels as you like..... Saw a clip of it ages back and a huge crowd of dancers all singing 2 diff tunes out aloud as it played through their headphones.....not exactly silent and way out of tune!!!

Least the label artwork doesn't look like it was done on a calculator.....as in this case.... https://collectorsfrenzy.com/search?q=isley+your+love+instrumental&search-button=

Got one knocking about somewhere...and should be a £20 LP....I know little about LPs to be honest but can anyone explain the reason why this sealed copy went so high.....? https://collectorsfrenzy.com/details/380709772947/MARVIN_GAYE_Whats_Going_On_TAMLA_LP_SEALED

My point was to emphasise that we all have different tastes and collecting habits....the fact that you don't like the record doesn't mean it doesn't have a high value to some-one else. It's an extremely rare record, hence the values quoted....though I would have thought £2.5k was top money, but I wouldn't personally sell even if I was offered £5k, or a Bentley...so go figure?

Which is also akin to replacing all your originals with reissues and boots.... ;o)

As mentioned, I bought Roger Banks copy earlier this year....Carl Willingham had a copy a few years back but not sure if he still has it....one of the European guys found a copy in the States for $1 or something like that. Not heard the Jimmie Wiiliams vers for ages but seem to recall its not a patch on E Williams. Also a few YouTube clips of Jimmie Williams actually play the E Williams version.
