  1. ...in fact, just checked Collectors Frenzy and over 6 years ago copies of Stanky were selling for between $70 and $113. Link below...... https://collectorsfrenzy.com/search/page/5?q=stanky
  2. Phil, the ones at Val's 6 years ago would have been around $25......knowing that Des Parker is as tight as a gnats chuff there is no way he would have bought multiple copies of a 45 for more than it was selling back in UK....seem to think they were selling for £60 at the time. I know this for a fact, I was there when Des found the box, so unless the Burnley spins by Fred preceeded 6 years ago then that record certainly wasn't £10 a pop at that point in time....
  3. Des Parker and Johnny Beggs found a boxful of 'Stanky' on the stairs at Val Shivelys over 6 years ago, and it was selling for decent money back then....think they might have turned the box round so no-one else could read the title written on the box, and returned on several occasions to re-stock......perhaps Beggsy or Des sold one to Fred.... ;o)
  4. Surprised this wasn't on 'the list'.........always next year I suppose...... https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=fGZHsUXOI64
  5. Jonathan Capree was first championed by Mik Parry.....guess you're likely to hear it in the Pow Wow room at Lifeline Allnighter this Saturday!
  6. I think it's about time some of those shandy drinking southern promoters contributed to this thread....c'mon lads, you've seen virtually every Promoter from the North West have a pop on here.....get on board and get it off your chest! More the merrier I say!
  7. Consistently busy record bars in both rooms of Lifeline & Pow Wow........I suppose you need to keep the collectors interested cus if they attend, so will the record dealers....
  8. I've never received one, which is quite surprising the number of people I try to piss off on a daily basis!!!!
  9. Well, they might want people in as soon as possible to take up the bar takings but you can't enforce that Kev....the pub they used for Change would be packed to the gunnels til 10 anyway cus they do some great real ales, and if the truth be told, the time I attended Change it was pretty much empty come 10pm if not earlier....Beggsy and I have usually left and got to the Windsor room as it was opening (10pm) You can't have it all Kev, much as you'd like.....and as you get more than most Id be pretty happy with my lot if I were you.
  10. Kev, you can't honestly tell me that you thought Change was put on to compete with KH? It was a tiny room above a pub that was already packed out with soulies waiting to go into KH and gave them something to listen to till the entrance queues quietened down after the initial opening? It was a free event that everybody viewed as a warm up to KH....? You really do seem to have a major case of paranoia!
  11. Presume the copy and past quote below is the FB post you refer to Chris? If not please advise and I will remove. "Important announcement !! ::: Re The Box @ Crewe Cheshire .. I was asked by the owner of The Box to promote 2 All - Nighters next year, Jez Jones was invit...ed to be a partner in the promotions, Jez declined the overall proposals in terms of The Box Having given due consideration to the owners request I have decided due to the concerns and comments from several people within the Northern Soul scene to withdraw from the planned events on March 14th & November 14th in order to preserve my reputation within the Northern Soul scene. All the very best to The Box and Jez Jones. Chris Burton"
  12. Perhaps Jez should come on and put it to bed.......saw you reading the thread earlier Jez so now's your time to shine fella!
  13. Evening Chris....hope you are well. Welcome to Soul Source.......unfortunately, not everyone on here is on FaceBook.......perhaps you could post a copy of your reply on here for the benefit of those left wondering. Regards Mace
  14. Don't really see how that is the best bit at all......quite shameful behaviour of the manager of the venue if so, and moreso of you to gloat about it. Jez, if I was you I'd walk away from the venue and let them get on with it....
  15. Ah, let it run for a bit Joe.....most folk have gone bed now anyways......
  16. Did we fail....? I know I moved on cus I couldn't work with certain members of staff at the venue......the 4 promotions I was involved with were very successful. The manager asked me countless times to return, even when Chris Burton moved in......I could probably return tomorrow if I wanted..... Were you not involved with Chris at this venue and why did Chris Burton move away from the venue? Ha ha....comedy gold!
  17. I'm sure that Kev is referring to the fact that Chris Burton eventually went into the Queens Hall as well........ Come to think of it, are there any venues in Stoke that ain't been used for Torch Revival Nights.....
  18. Personally, I think the promoter glues it all together, but the rest makes it what it is.....after all, that would be like saying 'Keele is Neil Clowes'.....(except it's now Chris Burton)......
  19. ...and I thought it was a carpark...... An interesting post though Kev.....do you not feel those that attended and danced, the DJs and the music they played, alongside the building and atmosphere created play as an important role in the legacy of such venues as the promoter? A serious question btw.....except for the first line of course! Regards Mace
  20. I'm more astounded that Chris still wants to promote at 74! No wonder it's turned into a right old Saga! Apologies.....only posting to get my promotional signature on what looks to be a busy thread .....
  21. Same as far as I'm aware....
  22. Pow Wow Room at Lifeline Allnighter (Stoke) Federal Club (Crewe) King Bee (Sheffield) Ad-Lib (Lincoln) Hideaway (Manchester) All busy nights with excellent music policies. Also some quality R&B played at GoGo Children (Bristol) alongside Northern, Funk etc
  23. Not sure....she is on FB though pal....I'll send you her details
  24. Sold a nice copy to Jodie Lamb about 7 years ago for £25.....not sure if she still has it but worth asking?
