  1. Sounds kinda like it could have been the theme to an '80s teen movie
  2. If anyone's selling one for £50, I'd stick a cheque in the post for it. And add a fiver for postage.
  3. IIRC, the 7" version even at 4.30 was actually the short version- the 12" was about 7 minutes or so. One thing many forget tho' is that in general, 12"ers were never meant to be played all the way through - they were meant for mix wizards to do their stuff with. Just think, somewhere in New York or LA at some point , people were probably dancing to Curtis one minute and Anita Ward "Ring My Bell" the next, not realising the change point
  4. If the condition was that bad, couldn't it have been a normal label copy that had red wine spilt over it or summat?
  5. Yes, I know it's a totally different record - what I was wondering is that perhaps not everyone does and buy the one thinking it's the other. My "My Conscience" is LLR-01/ZTSC-142276. I haven't got "Get It Off My Conscience" - how much does that go for these days?
  6. For what it's worth there's no national Trading Standards as such - it's the responsiblility of local councils and therefore varies area by area.
  7. Interestingly enough my copy of the Lovelites doesn't have the pictures on, just "Lovelite Records" in big letters across the top. My first thought was that mine's probably a boot but on closer inspection it has the tall characters ZTSC stamp which as I understand it is a sign of legitimacy - so official second issue perhaps? Also, I wonder if the reason it's underrated/often turning up for sale is that people buy it thinking it's "Get It Off..." and on finding it's not put it straight up for sale again?
  8. First record purchased with own money: The Brothers "Sing Me" - 1977, pop/reggae thing which I think won "Opportunity Knocks" or similar First Northern: James Coit "Black Power"
  9. Hmm, this reminds me of a post I wrote in jest for one of the lists a few years back advocating the establishment of a "Regulation of Soul Committee", or RSoul for short
  10. https://www.apple.com/quicktime/download/ should sort you out, fingers crossed
  11. To download the files to your desktop (or anywhere): When they start playing, the right hand end of the Quicktime plug in bar should have a downward pointing triangle. Give it a few seconds and click on said triangle - a menu should come up including the option "Save As Quick Time Movie" - this will allow you to download the file, it will have the extention .mov tho', so you'll need to rename it to .mp3 if you want to import it into iTunes. Hope this helps
  12. 'twas actually on the B-side of her massive hit "Loves Coming At You" so probably not too hard to find
  13. Hmm, couldn't help singing "Can't Take My Eyes Off You" along to this one
  14. Staying on the soul/cartoon links, don't forget Patrice Holloway was one of Josie's Pussycats!
  15. Great tune innit, I've got the LP - "Soul" and "Gonna Find A Cave" are pretty good too...but then again, I'm probably biased being a fan of the Hanna-Barbera oeuvre
  16. If I remember rightly tho', Epitome of Sound "You Dont' Love Me" was originally covered up as Moses Smith and even bootlegged under that name...?
  17. I thought I had a puking smiley somewhere, can't find it tho' so I'll have to settle for
  18. And one would have to add to that list the young lady at Samantha's 25/10/04 who was practically bouncing off the walls all night! (ps - strange innit, we have 2 smileys for wanking and one for fighting but a dancing one I have to poach off SomethingAwful? )
  19. It does by me at Clowne!
  20. Out of interest, returning to the allegations Ady made in the first post, have these been reported to the BPI or RIAA for investigation? Because it strikes me that this - and some of the other things mentioned in this thread - are a much larger threat to legitimate revenue than the poor quality mp3s circulated via Krapzaa etc. which seem to be their main target at the mo
  21. Probably because the end bit of the chorus is a direct clone of "Downtown"...also the earlier part of the melody is borrowed from Trinity "We Love The Pirate Stations".
  22. Whenever I have a spot, you're on my guest list (if you promise not to do that) By the way, on this whole subject, I'm often reminded of this little quote I saw on a site one time: Sounds famililar...
  23. Must admit, I would have guessed at that one being a recent boot - the fonts on the label look kind of modern n'est-ce pas?
  24. For what it's worth, the wap thing works fine on my shiny new Nokia 6260 via 02 Active
